  1. Wade's the type of player with a good all around game, good enough to jump a few of those other college OFs ahead of him. His plate approach and strikezone judgment alone should propel him over a few of those guys. I think he'll surprise a lot of people in 2016, I guess you could call him a sleeper.
  2. Berto is a great guy, you can really tell he loves playing the game. I know that might seem like an obvious statement but watching him in GCL and Instructs, you could tell he was having fun. If it wasn't for a pretty bad knee injury he'd be further up the ladder. He described himself pretty well as an "undeveloped player", he does have all the tools and is athletic enough that it's not hard to see him putting it all together. His approach at the plate is advanced, working deep into counts which is seen in his BB/PA (10%) but also K/PA (24%). His swing is pretty but can get a little long, it has a natural loft to it. His power has to improve, and it should, but there was next to nothing of extrabases this year. His arm is strong and accurate which puts him in rightfield now. The wheels are still there even after his leg injury. Here is some compilation at bat videos I took of him this summer: 6/27/15 https://youtu.be/rCNT7jUY23U 7/10/15 https://youtu.be/D9Xu78AOE4k 7/11/15 https://youtu.be/_fZSa4lOT7U
  3. I find it ironic that you used the word "humble" as his friend/barber was describing him to me that Ozzy is a very humble guy wouldn't know that he's close to a MLBer.
  4. SWOLLEN, its a term the kids are using nowadays for being ripped/jacked/etc. The video I saw earlier today he was doing standing bicep curls, for the looks of it he's been doing biceps and chest in the gym. Apparently has lost fat weight and added more muscle weight already this winter
  5. Yes Oswaldo is here in SWFL working out. Just out of hapstance my barber next door is a former milber and is close friends of Oswaldo, wouldn't have believed it til he showed be video of them working out and hanging in his pool. Arcia looks SWOLLEN!! I get a personal meet and greet next time he's getting his hair trimmed.
  6. I'm not Seth but the time frame sounds about right. The TJ surgery was in March so the earliest he'll start throwing is around April which gives him about a June/July clock to begin game action as long as there are no setbacks. I'm not expecting the world when he first returns as the Twins will likely treat him with kidgloves, could be an AFL guy to get more innings at the end of 2016.
  7. I have a hard time seeing Sano out to RF, yes his bat has to be in the lineup but RF? Really? Yes he's got a strong arm and is more athletic than one would think but last I heard he's around 270lb that my friends is a defensive liability. And that liability becomes even more of an issue as the pitching staff is built around contact. OF is more than just flyballs, it's route running, cutoff men, backing up others, etc. Plus learning a new position usually isn't the best thing for one's development, less time working on his stroke and nuisances at the plate.
  8. Are you accusing him of using his exclamation points haphazardly? Do you just not happen to like exclamation points? You should learn to use them. Like the way I'm talking right now, I would put an exclamation points at the end of all these sentences! On this one! And on that one! ** Old Seinfeld skit
  9. Yeah no question that it was night and day difference when Olsen caught compared to HS kid like Kerby Camacho; the pitchers seemed more confident in their ability ie to spin off a breaking ball in the dirt etc.
  10. Video of Brian Olsen at the plate in GCL: https://youtu.be/4sHUApOBSgg
  11. Looks like Tyree Davis didn't get his wish. I had talked to him just as the Instruct season was winding down and he said he really wanted to play Winter League ball but wasn't sure if the organziation was going to let him. Davis didn't play much at all in 2015 as he was rehabbing from an elbow injury which could have needed surgery.
  12. Video of Callan Pearce on the mound in the GCL this year: https://youtu.be/wJwES2ap9Aw
  13. Video I took of Lewin Diaz going yard in GCL. Love watching the kid hit, I probably have close to 20 minutes of video on him just this year alone. https://youtu.be/OdwZVDpy8C4?t=18s
  14. I've got no problem with him talking about God and don't consider it controversial. I'd consider him saying he worshipped Satan controversial or he thought the coaches sucked lol. Baseball is steeped with religion past and present, if a player feels it helps him - more power to him.
  15. I'm pretty sure I've got some video and/or pictures of Rowan at the plate...if I find them I'll post them. What was interesting about Ebersohn was that he was obviously adjusting thru the season, offensively and defensively. Thus he looked better at season's end then when it started, not a lot of guys can say that. He looked like he wanted to play another month or so lol. Defensively, his running routes on flyballs was poor, I saw him get turned around a few times and lose the ball but by season's end his routes were cleaning up.
  16. You don't get too many players (especially newly drafted ones) saying something controversial, goal at this stage is stay out of the press.
  17. While in GCL, Olsen had a much further developed plate approach then the rest of the catchers on the team thus why he didn't stay here too long. What I was most impressed about was his defensive game; showing off good gamecalling framing, along with good pop times behind the plate. Even if there was a language barrier with some of the pitchers, Olsen didn't show it. As a 34th rounder, can't complain too much; his big test will be his first pro season in 2016.
  18. I got to see Rowan play in the GCL and he was overmatched at times but like he said himself he's used to seeing a 90 mph fastball and these kids are rocking 95 mph with a plus breaking ball. From what I could see towards the end of the season, he started to adjust at the plate with his hands appearing more set and less pre-swing load, in his final 9 games, he was 8 for 28. Interesting kid, always love seeing players from other countries and the Twins work that well - Australia, Germany, South Africa.
  19. Of the kids in GCL and Instruct camp, Kolten worked the counts probably the best of the crew which is also why he had 24 K in 70 AB. His swing is long with obvious holes in it, making him very susceptible to pitches letter high. In batting practice, kid hit some monster bombs, it just didn't translate into game action. Hopefully next year, it will. As for the conditioning portion, that's where he needs to improve the most, he looked winded and fatigued regularly. The coaching staff (namely Lepel) nicknamed him "CottonTop", which I don't think he enjoyed too much. My funniest moment involving Kendrick came in Instructs with Kendrick playing first, Stephen Gonsalves on the mound, and a BoSox runner at first. The runner had a sizeable lead, Gonsalves showed a plus move to first (ala Steve Carltonesque), it was so good that Kendrick was fooled by it (he was looking at home) and the ball sailed past him at first. Here is some video I took of Kolten at the plate https://youtu.be/KlNXYQMaLhE
  20. The power will come especially as he adds more muscle and weight to his frame, he's apparently known for his strenuous workouts in the offseason. Having met his dad Wayne during the season, Trey has the genetics to definitely bulk up. I'm more concerned with his flexibility as he's already had a stress reaction in his lower back this season costing him valuable time in Instructional League; he just finished rehab a few weeks ago.
  21. I was actually just going to write the same thing. Of course Carter is on his third team... Power is such a commodity nowadays, ABW is never going to win a batting title, hell he'll likely never hit above .240 in the bigs but a line of .220/.300/.450 is "do-able" it just might not be for the Twins.
  22. Yeah in all my time on the backfields, I've only seen Sano play and take grounders at 3B and SS. His huge frame at SS was a sight to see !! LOL
