How crazy is it that the Washington Bullets changed their name because of negative connotations regarding bullets and violence while Redskins still remains?
It was true when they were here in 2008. A lot of the games are dominated by the visiting team fans here. Boston, Chicago, New York, LA, Milwaukee all draw huge crowds. Most of the people I know in Colorado are originally from somewhere else.
I think Morneau would make some sense in Colorado. It's one of the few places where he'd be an upgrade at first place and I could see Justin going there in the offseason to replace Helton. Has a friend on the team in Cuddyer and a house in Scottsdale, where the Rockies have spring training. Could serve as an audition.
Perkins really isn't a need for the Rockies. The back of their bullpen is a strong point. If they acquire anything it will be a starting pitcher. But they've never been aggressive at the trade deadline. It's far more likely they sell.
Brandon Shipley out of Nevada is another one who could get into the conversation after Appel, Gray and Bryant. A bit raw as he is a relatively recent convert to pitching but has really good stuff. Mid to high 90s fastball, excellent changeup and a curve that has potential. Seems similar to a pitcher the Twins were supposedly interested in last season, Kyle Zimmer.
Doesn't sound like he'll be as cheap as hoped. From Ken Rosenthal:
Source: #Dodgers only will trade Dee Gordon for significant return. Still view him as young player with big upside, stolen-base potential.
Lannon made 5 million in arbitration last year so his salary would have likely been close to the same this season. Way more than he is worth on the open market.
