  1. We might have something here in Gibsy.
  2. Hated it. Turned it off after a couple minutes. Thought we were going to get to see a baseball game. Not sure what the **** that was...
  3. Yes bring him back. He's had the best arm in the organization since we traded Santana. You won't be able to afford to bring in anyone better next year unless you pay twice as much as it would cost to pick up that option.
  4. The glass is pretty full. They need two players to make an enormous difference, but they would be two BIG players. They need a guy to hit behind Morneau who has the ability to hit like Shane Mack did. Doumit is an okay player, but this guy needs to hit further down in the order. They need an Ace/Stopper/Staff Horse. That guy will make everyone better and give them confidence, take pressure off them, and allow them to relax and not try to do too much. That is two guys who will cost the Twins a lot of money. But it would be better than 5 guys who would cost the same amount or less that weren't capable of the same kind of impact. It didn't even take 90 wins to grab the division this year. You can expect the same next year.
  5. The Twins don't need to get a top 10 pitcher in here next year to turn the staff around. They added Pavano in 2009 and he wound up having a great, bounce back year after 3-4 consecutive mediocre seasons. His presence led a staff that, by and large was pretty average at best, to some very good numbers in 2010. One guy with the right attitude, having a good season can make a huge difference, especially in this division. It would be a huge mistake to dump 20 million dollars or more into one guy like Grienke or Peavy simply because they are the best of an average group of FA pitchers.
  6. The guy has been a great ball player. That is all there is to that.
  7. Good luck to Casilla, but this team won't miss him. This organization already has 45 Casilla's and will likely draft 20 more over the next 4 years.
  8. The team that signs Grienke will have overpaid. He's alright, but he isn't even worth the money he is being paid now.
  9. The Twins might be gun shy regarding a trade involving Span. IMO they just wouldn't get back in pitching what Span can give you night in and night out. But who knows?
  10. His first AB is generally very effective. He sees a lot of pitches and seems to get on base frequently. It would be interesting to find out the Twin's record when Span gets on base and scores in the first inning. Although, the record for every team is probably pretty good when their lead off guy does this.
  11. That was a pretty rough game for Florsy. He can't have a whole lot more of those otherwise he's going to have an empty bandwagon.
  12. How will Carroll not get 400 PA next year if the Twins plan on moving on with Plouffe, Florimon, and possibly Dozier as the middle/LS infield? That is a lead pipe cinch unless he gets hurt. Dozier got a real fair shot and looked like the career minor leaguer he is destined to be. Plouffe is not the answer. He isn't any more accomplished than Dozier except he got hot for a month and hit some homers. Florimon is interesting. He looks to have the best package of skills in the organization. (of the players that are ML ready) I don't disagree with Florimon having the inside track at SS at this point, unless some other option drops into the team's lap this off season.
  13. TK thinks he should start. Says he has one of the better arms on the team and you should put your best arms in the rotation. In 2009 and 2010 he was combined 15-5. (were all his W's as a starter ?) Great ERA both years. It started to go south for him last year, but then it did for everybody. This year hasn't exactly been what you would call a bounce back year. I'll defer to Kelly in this case, because it is hard to get a read on Duensing. They might want to try designating him a starter this off season and quit jerking him around from the pen to the rotation 3-4 times a season like they have most of his career. That might be at the root of Duensing's problem.
  14. This is my absolute dream match-up. Pure entertainment watching these two guys throw. And it's quite possible that we may see two 10-walk no-hitters today.
  15. Gardy should stick around a few more years and do what TK did; leave when it looks like things are on the right track again. This team will be decent next year, at least to the point where they won't be out of things in July. .500-ish with a look at that last WC is approachable.
  16. Trading Morneau would be a terrible move. He has always been this team's best, most dangerous hitter, and for the most part, still is. He has a lot of baseball left. Players aren't as disposable as people like to think. Morneau's production would be extremely difficult to replace.
  17. De Vries has been very good. He's earned a crack, but I hope he isn't in the rotation. We need to be more formidable than that. But, I have confidence that if we lose a starter next year, which will undoubtedly happen, De Vries could step in and do the job...at least to the point where the Twins have a chance when he pitches.
  18. And GREAT numbers with runners on and risp. The guy is a dud. But at least he is versatile...
  19. This is an easy question. Florimon will be the starting SS when the team comes north next year...and it is the right choice. Dozier ain't got it. He's just another career minor-leaguer forced to play in a situation that is way over his head because the Twins didn't have anybody else. Dozier, Plouffe, Valencia, Hughes, Dinkleman, etc;....the list is endless.
  20. Doumit has become my least favorite player. Kind of hard to actually become that, but he wins. Has this guy done anything productive in the last 10 weeks? How many times has he come to the plate in a situation where he could do several productive things that wouldn't even include having to actually get a hit, and he decides to do the one thing you absolutely cannot do? It's irritating listening to people include his name in the "middle of the order mash" the Twins have when everyone is cooking. He should never be mentioned. The guy should be playing 2-3 times a week tops and hitting 8th. 300 AB's tops for this guy. That butchery in left only confirmed what I've felt about this guy for quite some time. The guy is a dud...
  21. I never check out. Not that I know anything about baseball, but it has always been my favorite game to follow. Football is a dying game. The ratings and profit margins for the league may say differently, but that is one sorry product. I don't even know what happened in the games yesterday. The Vikes won right? Whoopee!..................pfffttttt. I listened to the Twins game yesterday on the radio while dinking around outside and in the garage like I do about half the time. It's too nice to sit inside wasting the day. The season is played throughout the best part of the year up here. (for the most part) That might have something to do with baseball being my favorite sport. Never do check out though...
  22. Try to find another bat for the middle of the order. Find a veteran SP to take a spot in the rotation. Don't trade Morneau or Span this off season. Consider moving Span near the deadline. Morneau keep indefinitely. Pay Baker and Pavano. Let the 147 guys who have started games for the Twins over the last two compete for the other spots in the rotation.
  23. Tony O is my favorite ball player of all-time. There is no way to be impartial here. He is HOF. The guy was so great. As 70charger said, "a baseball machine". I saw him play. I talked to him. I love him.
  24. In the Chicago series, Bremer brought up the point that Mauer saw a lot of pitches and swung at very few. Checking the stat, Mauer is at or near the top in pitches per PA. This is an underrated contribution. Mauer works a count. He doesn't see too many good pitches. (maybe strike one so his critics can't use that joke) Other than his HR totals which may become more substantial as his career progresses, his numbers are outstanding. HOF worthy. Mauer will one day be appreciated for how good he is at what he does. In the meantime, if you are wanting Mauer to be a loudmouth in the clubhouse, or hack at pitches out of the strike zone like Puckett or Guerrero did, don't hold your breath.
  25. Casilla needs to go. He represents part of the problem. He plays way too much, primarily because the middle infield has been in shambles since Gagne and Knoblauch left. No more stop gaps here. No more "2-year, 2-million dollar per, play 2nd, hit second guys". Where is our Robinson Cano?
