  1. Do we know that this guy has no chance? (I mean, most players have no - or low - chance), but there are always examples of guys who surprise. And, Jhon Garcia has an elbow injury, so he's likely out a bit.
  2. Yeah, there is no negative in a signing like this. Caleb Thielbar was a nice signing last year, actually later than this. Chris Colabello is 28 and an indy league guy. Why not take a chance if they're seeing something.
  3. In his second at bat today, Miguel Sano hit his 13th home run. HR in back-to-back games.
  4. It seems disingenuous to replace a guy in the bullpen if the guy in the bullpen is generally pitching well. It feels like the Twins are waiting for an injury or for someone to implode in a few straight games before replacing someone. Obviously some have longer leashes (and bigger contracts) than others. At that point, you've got Slama, Oliveros and Guerra ready. I just don't know if you want a situation where you bring a guy (or guys) in and tell them that if you pitcher well, you'll get a shot... and then he gets a shot, pitches well, and then gets released. No question, at some point, Slama will get another chance. I hope it is an extended look.
  5. Parmelee has not been in the Rochester lineup since last Tuesday due to a sore chest/side. They are being cautious so that it doesn't turn into an oblique injury. Hopefully he can get back on the field soon.
  6. The plan is to have another "Adoption" period, a week after the draft where people who have not yet been adopted and draft picks can be taken. We'll figure out the rules for that.
  7. Dozier is still eligible. Parmelee is over the 130 at bat limit.
  8. For those that adopted a minor leaguer, be sure to post an update on your player every week to ten days. There are several players who have not had updates since late April or early May.
  9. http-~~-//www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?content_id=21777405&sid=t509 The new episode of Miracle Insider Show is now available. There is a great interview with their hitting coach Jim (Slice) Dwyer. He is a former long-time, big leaguer best known as a pinch hitter. Listen to him talk about development of hitters. It's incredibly interesting. There is also a great interview with LHP Pat Dean.
  10. Slama can be 'adopted' if anyone would like. From a tweet of mine yesterday: "Justin Greene strikes out looking. Anthony Slama strikes out the side. Now 1 ER in 21.1 innings, 12 walks, 36 strikeouts. #JustSaying" After yesterday's performance, Slama's ERA is now down to 0.42. In 21.1 innings, he has given up 13 hits, walked 12 and struck out 36.
  11. I just can't help but think that it's just bad luck, right? I mean, I just can't explain it. Bromberg's was totally bad luck. but you're right it's alarming.
  12. The reports I'm hearing from Ft. Myers are that Wimmers' elbow is not improving at all. I'd guess that they'll make a decision in the next month. Obviously I hope not, and hope that the rehab proves to be the right decision.
  13. The game was suspended in Portland after the fourth inning due to fog. That's why he went just four innings. The game was completed the next day.
  14. I'm a big fan of the logo too. Very much looking forward to taking the Territory Train to Quad Cities and Beloit this coming weekend to see the Snappers play!
  15. That's exactly right, and that's what I continue to hope for. The 'draft experts' had him ranked much higher than the 30th spot where the Twins got him. They must have seen something to tell them that he's more than a future utility infielder. From a distance, I don't necessarily see it yet. However, he is quite young for his draft class, did play big time college baseball and succeeded. Obviously need to let him continue to play and hope he improves.
  16. I guess my point would be that he's clearly a Top 5-6 pick, throws upper 90s. If nothing else, he would be something different on the Twins staff. Even if he ends up being a solid #2, it's totally worth the #2 overall pick.
  17. I'm going to keep that one with me for right now. I want to see how it plays out. For now, Waldrop had a good inning this weekend and hopefully that can continue.
  18. I don't get why Gausman can't be an "Ace" with some development. He has pitches. He's the best pitcher in the best conference. He throws 97. He has good secondary stuff... I don't think people realize just how rare 'aces' are.
  19. Thank you for the reports. That is great! I'm looking forward to seeing them play too.
  20. I'd add Texas to the mix. They need a 1B. I think that's a good place for Span too. They need a leadoff hitter and a CF. I agree that people will be disappointed by how much the Twins could get for Morneau at this point. I odn't know about A prospects, but if not an A, there needs to be 3-4 Bs (that the scouts/TR think can become an impact player). There's just so much risk with keeping Morneau.
  21. The people doing mock drafts are just guessing based on all kinds of reading. Correa's stock has flown up in the last 3-4 days. I would have no problem with the Twins taking Correa, none at all. Pretty much, the Twins could take Correa, Buxton, Appel, Zimmer, Gausman, Zunino or Giolito and I'd be just fine with it.
  22. Buxton sounds pretty legit. Defense, arm, speed, patience, all that. The potential is with the power. If it developes, he could be Justin Upton. If it doesn't as much, he'd be like BJ Upton. Either is worth a #1 pick. And, of course, there are the Jeff Jackson's, Willie Ansley's, Paul Coleman's and BJ Garbe's of the world that remind us there is no sure thing. Of course, there are also Ken Griffey, Jr's.
  23. Sano was 0-6 today until the 12th inning when he drilled his 12th home run, a 3-run blast.
  24. You're right. Koch (pronounced like "Coach") is plenty old for the level of competition. He had a couple of consecutive big games for the Snappers earlier this month. I have a very hard time ranking catchers because, unless they are a good prospect, they play about every other day. I like the .915 OPS, but 26 K in 77 AB isn't encouraging.
  25. Chance - I am completely unexcited about Michael... Ranking him #15 is actually two spots up from where I had him in my book in January. It's not due to anything he's done. A couple have graduated from the ranks of "prospect" and some injuries as well.
