1. As I've stated, I would probably lean toward Stewart or Stanek at this point. I'm just not going to pretend I know more about these players and their tools and upsides than the Twins scouts or others. (Note - I also went on the record last year and said I would have taken Gausman.)
2. Whoever they draft at #4 likely won't be ready next year either.
3. Is that the Twins scouting report on him, or is it the scouting industry's report on him? Maybe the Twins love his defense (which does matter) and believe that he has the size, swing, strength, power, approach to be better than average at an important position? I'm definitely not advocating taking McGuire... But he is a consensus Top 10 guy which means he isn't terrible.
4. Video Highlights & Clips - MiLB | Miguel Sano talks about his time in Fort Myers - Video | Fort Myers Miracle Multimedia This show includes information from Andy Leer and an interview with Miguel Sano.
5. Nice work... thank you! I would say that not all power hitters have to look the part. I kind of agree with you on Harrison. I didn't think he looked huge, but he's really strong, very strong hands. And, he'll grow more.
6. This is a great article... and wasn't Michael Beasley's secret weapon Skittles too?
7. Pinto is a prospect. he's got to play every day, not split time with 2 other people.
8. Richardson is Ben Revere, just 3-4 years older. He's had some big league time, primarily as a pinch runner. I don't think the OBP is maintainable in the big leagues. The reason I would call him (or Clete Thomas) up is that it would be best for Aaron Hicks, not because I think that Richardson would be any/much better than Hicks now. But gotta like these stories. He's been in the big leagues. He's been in independent leagues. He's done very well with the Red Wings too.
9. I think this is the key. That's the key. Get some success. Start feeling confident, then worry about the other stuff.. Nice article!
10. Manae a May be available when the Twins make their 2nd round (maybe 3rd round!) pick.
11. Great work, Chris! This is wonderful!!
12. More and more, I'm intrigued by Ball. Hard-throwing, high upside (high risk) lefty. Much more interested in him than McGuire.
13. Cuz he's a top prospect and they need to do the right things for his development. People think the inconsistency thing is just an excuse but the numbers say that is very true. He's now been good 3 out of 4 so he's about there. No, I don't think there are five better than him, necessarily. As I've said many times, the money (arbitration and especially free agency) should be an issue for the twins and all other teams. The Twins have shown time and again that those things don't factor in.
14. I would completely disagree with this. Oliver's throws gas. He's coming off of the Tommy John, May get into games later this year. Definitely not a guy to give up on! Boer was just a 2nd round pick a couple years ago. Sure, he's struggled as a starter. He can move to the bullpen. His current injury (off field) certainly doesn't help, but way too early to give up on him.
15. Us, I think that's what I meant... thanks!
16. Baseball-wise, very little. It's entertainment. Real-life, sure. But to be overly cautious with brain injuries... I'm completely good with that.
17. Trainers just diagnose. Then they had a doctor look at him. I don't think he's taken the imPACT test yet. Either way, with a brain injury, they should always err on the side of caution. This is a non-issue.
18. Sorry... responded as u submitted edits.
19. He needs to play. And, now his shoulder is hurt.
20. Beresford is very underrated because he doesn't hit for any power, but he's great defensively. Santana has all the tools, but he lacks defensive consistency. No one in the Twins system has more errors, and that includes Sano or Harrison. He also started out slowly.
21. I don't believe that Gibson's call-up is related to the Super 2 date. I also don't believe Morales and Buxton are directly tied. Buxton's been playing himself into staying in Cedar Rapids longer. Morales should move up soon. Goncalves can certainly take CF in Ft. Myers for awhile. Or JD Williams could move up. Or Jon Murphy could play there. Or Murphy could go to Cedar Rapids and Adam Walker should move up (he will soon too).
22. It's a 7 Day move in which he may play 2-3 games. Can't make anything out of that.
23. You can view the page at http://twinsdaily.com/content.php?r=1778-Ramirez-to-7-Day-DL-Herrmann-recalled
24. The Twins announced following the Sunday afternoon game in Detroit that outfielder Wilkin Ramirez would be put on the 7-Day Disabled List, a result of his collision in left centerfield on Saturday afternoon. As a result, the Twins have also announced that catcher-outfielder Chris Herrmann has been promoted to the big league club. Herrmann has struggled in his transition to AAA. Through 38 games, he has hit .238/.311/.285 (.589) with five doubles and a triple. Although he has primarily played catcher, he continues to get time out in left field as well. When he was in Ft. Myers, he got some time in centerfield, but that is not an ideal situation. This means that the Twins really do not have a backup option behind Aaron Hicks in centerfield. Interestingly, had this move been needed a day or two earlier, it likely would have been Joe Benson promoted, but he was lost on Saturday when he was claimed by the Rangers. Ramirez will likely undergo more testing and the team will evaluate him over the next seven days to determine his status.
