Amen!! "We" "sometimes" "bash" people for hanging around too long, or not being as good as we hoped. This guy has been in the game for 20+ years and for it to (potentially) end like that is so sad. It's great that some just care about it that much! It's unfortunate it takes something like that to remind us.

It's only 15-20 minutes, so if you have a chance, please listen and provide us with your feedback on doing such podcasts... and also on my 'conspiracy theory.' Am I crazy!?

The Twins just officially announced that Tyler Robertson has been DFAd so that the Twins can add OF Clete Thomas to the 40 man roster. Thomas has had a terrific season thusfar in Rochester, hitting nearly .300 with nine home runs despite missing nearly two weeks with an injury. Robertson, the Twins 3rd round pick in 2006, was designated for release or assignment, making him the second 2006 pick DFAd in the past week (Joe Benson, 2nd round). The left-hander debuted with the Twins in 2012 and was on the Opening Day roster this year. He struck out Prince Fielder in Game 3 in a crucial situation. The following day, he gave up a grand slam in a big situation to Chris Davis. The Twins now have 10 days to trade, release or outright Robertson. Of course, to outright him, he would need to clear waivers. There were rumors abounding that Thomas had a June 2nd opt-out as well.

I think they are committing to youth if they call up Thomas. They're committed to making sure the youth plays. Thomas isn't going to play much. Maybe spell Hicks once in awhile, maybe get a game in RF once in awhile. With the way Parmelee has been playing the last couple of weeks, he's earned him PT. With the way Doumit's been playing, he deserves to play. Morneau's not hitting for power, but still being productive, so he's going to play. Mauer will DH or play 1B when he's not catching. Willingham's going to play either in LF or DH. Also, right now, Arcia is only DHing because of his shoulder. Also, I mentioned Deibinson Romero as a possibility so that Escobar doesn't start two games out of three at 3B while Plouffe is out. That certainly makes Juan Francisco intriguing, just as a short-term, huge power (but not much else) option to just see if it works.

He's certainly not a flame-thrower, by any means. He'll hit 90-91 though. And, having three pitches is why he can be successful... My comments are intended to mean that he should move up to Rochester. In his first season in the organization, he pitched in Beloit, Ft. Myers and New Britain. He spent all last year in New Britain, and now half of this season in New Britain. He's pitching well and eating innings. I think it's time to move up... but that's just me.

It could. Chris Pettit has been playing CF for New Britain with Jordan Parraz generally in RF and Danny Ortiz in LF. They could send Parraz up and slide Pettit over. Or, they could just release Pettit. But then certainly, Morales to NB, Buxton to FM, and Kepler to CR.

Buxton has a sore thumb. He'll be out a few days. Sano just got a regular day off. He and Morales both.

There were plenty of solid performances throughout the Twins farm system on Sunday. There were three wins, an extra-inning loss, some good pitching, some good storylines and some very good offense. However, in Sunday’s game, there was a moment that hopefully helps remind us that these players are more than prospects, more than just pieces in an organizational puzzle. They are very young people with families. Sometimes we have to be reminded of that. Fortunately, in this case, the news at the end of the day was more encouraging than originally considered. (see the Cedar Rapids update for the story or this stories headline) With that, check out what happened in the Twins minor league system on Sunday: Rochester Red Wings 6, Charlotte Knights 5 Box Score The Red Wings got a very nice win. Andrew Albers started. He gave up four runs on seven hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out four. Aaron Thompson gave up one run in 1.1 innings. He allowed three hits. Shairon Martis got one out. Then Tyler Robertson came on and recorded his first save by getting the final four outs. Two of them came on strikeouts. Antoan Richardson continues to be an on-base machine. He went 2-2 with two walks and his sixth stolen base. Deibinson Romero went 2-4 with a walk and his first stolen base. Clete Thomas and Brian Dinkelman each hit their eighth doubles. Oswaldo Arcia walked three times on Saturday and twice more on Sunday. New Britain Rock Cats 5, Bowie Baysox 4 Box Score Logan Darnell gave up four runs on ten hits and a walk in seven innings. He struck out six. He improves to 5-4 with a 2.76 ERA. Though it wasn’t his best performance, he continued to rack up innings. In his last five starts, he has thrown 37 innings. Dan Turpen came on and struck out two in two perfect innings for his first save. Josmil Pinto’s three-run sixth inning home run gave the Rock Cats a 5-3 lead. It was his ninth homer on the season. Mark Sobolewski’s second Rock Cat homer cut the team’s deficit to 3-2 in the fifth inning. Nate Hanson was 2-4 in the game. Ft. Myers Miracle 8, Palm Beach Cardinals 1 (6 innings) Box Score The Rain and the Miracle won on Sunday. With two outs in the bottom of the 6th inning, the game was called. Fortunately, the Miracle bats got off to a very fast start and had a big lead. The Miracle scored five runs in the top of the first inning. Eddie Rosario singled in a run. Kennys Vargas doubled in two runs. That was followed by a two-run homer by Matt Koch, his second. In the second inning, the Miracle scored three more runs. Vargas doubled in another run. Koch and Jairo Rodriguez each singled in a run. Vargas now has 17 doubles. Rosario was 2-3. Levi Michael was also 2-3. Taylor Rogers was named the Twins minor league player of the week earlier in the day on Sunday. He was the recipient of the early run support in this game. Rogers went all 5.2 innings. He gave up one run on six hits. He walked none and struck out one. He is now 5-1 with a 1.35 ERA with the Miracle since his promotion to the Miracle. Cedar Rapids Kernels 2, Kane County 3 (10 innings) Box Score The story of this game, both good and bad, was Niko Goodrum. In the third inning, Goodrum came to the plate in a tie game and gave the Twins a 2-0 lead with a two-run single. He proceeded to steal second base. The next batter, Jorge Polanco, singled to left. Goodrum rounded third and attempted to score. The ball beat him by plenty to the plate. There was a collision, and Goodrum went down. He was on the ground for quite some time. His neck was secured. He was put on a back board and left the park in an ambulance. Before leaving, he did wave to the crowd. He went through some tests at the hospital but was released. He will be put on the Disabled List with a concussion. A corresponding move will likely be made early on Monday morning, according to manager Jake Mauer. Tyler Grimes and Dalton Hicks were each 2-3 with a walk. Michael Quesada went 2-4 with his third double. Hudson Boyd made the start for the Kernels. The right-handers had a Quality State. He gave up two runs on six hits. He walked two and struck out six in six innings. One of the runs came on the 8th home run of the season for 1B Dan Vogelbach. I mention that because Vogelbach and Boyd were teammates at Bishop Verot High School in Ft. Myers. They both had committed to the University of Florida. Boyd was drafted 55th overall by the Twins, and Vogelbach was selected by the Cubs with the 68th overall pick. Josue Montanez came on and threw two scoreless innings. He walked one and gave up two hits. Tyler Jones pitched a scoreless ninth, but he gave up a run with one out in the 10th to take the loss. Arcia won't/shouldn't come up for a couple of reasons: 1.) Where is he going to play? Parmelee is hitting. Doumit is hitting. Willingham's been better. Herrmann can be the backup in LF/CF. 2.) He's only DHing right now for Rochester due to his shoulder. I'm sure he'll be out in the field again soon.

My first thought was that it would be Wilkin as well, but had heard the reports that he wasn't going to be ready, or wasn't going to travel to KC. If it's not him, I don't know who it would be. And, I don't want it to be the case, but I woudlnt' be surprised if Colabello is also DFAd. HE'd very likely clear.

So, who do people think will come up? My thoughts: 1.) Deibinson Romero - not hitting great in Rochester, but Escobar should not be starting at 3B. 2.) Clete Thomas - Fans need to forget all of last year's strikeouts. He's not as bad as he was at that point, and he's done very well in Rochester. He'd be a backup in CF. 3.) Antoan Richardson - Also would be a backup outfielder. Not hitting for average, but an on-base guy. 4.) James Beresford - could be an extra infielder. Beresford is in New Britain, but he plays great defense at 3 spots and hits for average. 5.) Ray Olmedo - Can play all 3 positions.

Doesn't look like it. We'll see if he's in today's box score or not.

Yeah, it was in the Minor League Report comments earlier this morning. Jake didn't sound too concerned.

Just got a response from Jake saying the Buxton is 'just sore" and will likely get "a few days."

I actually agree with this more and more.

I understand he was working with the trainer beforehand, so there could be some minor injury. I'm trying to get some information on that. But even if he's not there, that lineup is fun to watch. Lots of great prospects.

Beresford isn't going to hit for power, never was. He's a Gold-Glove caliber middle infielder who would need to hit for average. But, he's done enough at AA at this point. Morales is a guy who will be a free agent after the season. He's in his third year at Ft. Myers. Mid-June is fine with me, but he needs to be pushed forward to New Britain.

Well, he was at Instructional League last year, and they gave him money, so I'm not completely surprised, though I too would have guessed he would spend a little bit of time there.

No, not until following the season, like a preliminary one. Then the final one will again be in the Minnesota Twins Prospect Handbook next January.
