  1. No, its been good. I'll delete the post.
  2. How does that chart look for guys tied to a draft pick? Those are guys who sign late and the Twins aren't interested in them, reportedly.
  3. I'll concede that a Hall of Fame with a Jack Morris 10 inning world series game 7 shutout display and a Mark McGwire-Sammy Sosa HR chase display could be a heck of a lot more interesting than one with say, Rafael Palmeiro... hitting a HR in another hopeless TX playoff loss. edit: Out of curiosity, has anyone actually visited the Hall? I have not.
  4. This is also the agency representing Kershaw - who reportedly turned down a 300m extension offer from the Dodgers, and Greinke, who very openly said he was looking to get a payday out of FA. Its tough to say for sure, especially since its not clear who Bailey is actually represented by, but I have to believe that players don't hook up with agencies randomly. I like Bailey but if Excel is Bailey's agent and the trade price is higher than Perkins then I'd probably walk away. Heck I don't even know if I'd make that trade at all.
  5. Interesting. MLBTR says Bailey's agent is Excel and BB -ref says its Hendricks Sports. Lot of Hendricks clients did test FA - Cuddyer, Guthrie, Jeter, Kershaw, Pettitte, and Greinke. Alex Gordon is one who signed a team extension but there aren't many others that I can tell. Hendricks looks like a smaller outfit with a lot of lower profile guys. The biggest name is probably Huston Street who tested FA too although he may have just wanted to get out of Denver.
  6. I doubt that. Team control is the mitigating factor with bailey. 3 years of Perkins for 1 of Bailey straight up should be enough to get it done really
  7. A lateral move, and an expensive one. They have Philips on the books for 4/50 and Choo is going to fetch what, 5/100 or something in that neighborhood? Would Hammer + Perkins get it done? The Reds would fill 2 holes instead of 1 and cost a lot less. Maybe the Twins could even leverage a prospect or two out of that.
  8. Again I don't see how, based on this, you would vote Thomas but not McGwire or Bagwell. edit: I see you do have Bagwell up there. McGwire then. How does he not make the cut?
  9. Yea I don't touch VD's either. That is my rule number one in any, uh, transaction.
  10. If they bring Chapman into the rotation then they might like a lefty reliever to fill his spot in the bullpen. They did sign Skip Schumacher today too. So they have a lot of infielders. Corner OF looks like their other weak spot.
  11. We may need to rope in a 3rd party to take Philips. Yankees?
  12. I watched Thomas tee off on Twins pitching all through the 90s and 00s and agree - he was a 1 man wrecking crew. But I'm still waiting for a reason why he should be voted in before any of these other 1Bs and DHs.
  13. Now that we suffered through the last half of his recuperation might as well bring him back. He should be better next year. I just hope the plan isn't to do the same with Gavin Floyd next season.
  14. With only 10 votes, I would start with positions 1-2, and 4-9. I can't pick from this crop of 1Bs and DHs and defend my choices, they are all too close IMO. Maddux Glavine Clemens Schilling Mussina Kent Piazza Bonds Raines Trammell
  15. What about Palmeiro and Martinez, would they get your vote too? McGwire? Sammy Souser?
  16. You're a senior BBWAA writer, you get 10 votes. How does your ballot look? The candidates: • Jeff Bagwell • Craig Biggio • Barry Bonds • Roger Clemens • Tom Glavine • Jeff Kent • Greg Maddux • Edgar Martinez • Don Mattingly • Fred McGriff • Mark McGwire • Jack Morris • Mike Mussina • Rafael Palmeiro • Mike Piazza • Tim Raines • Curt Schilling • Lee Smith • Sammy Sosa • Frank Thomas • Alan Trammell • Larry Walker http://www.mlb.com/news/article/mlb/greg-maddux-tom-glavine-headline-stacked-baseball-hall-of-fame-ballot?content_id=64183074&partnerId=as_mlb_20131126_14982564&vkey=news_mlb&ymd=20131124
  17. How many more NPB guys need to successfully transition to MLB before we accept the validity of their success over there? In my mind we have already crossed that point. We are talking about the best pitcher in Japan, that's really all we need to known about him IMO.
  18. Twins trade to Rockies: Michael Tonkin, Chris Colabello Rockies trade to Twins: Josh Rutledge, 24, middle infielder Why the Twins should do it: they need middle infielders that might hit. Rutledge's inconsistency to this point may or may not be due to issue with his leg kick, which if Dozier is any indication might be something the Twins coaching staff could solve. Why the Rockies should do it: they need bullpen arms and bats and are trying to get them on the cheap
  19. Another trade Twins trade to Brewers: Josh Willingham, Chris Parmelee, and Chris Colabello Brewers trade to Twins: Norichika Aoki Why the Twins should do it: Aoki will be 31 which is not really young but technically younger than 34, he could leadoff, steal bases. Clears two roster spots. Why the Brewers should do it: Aoki figures to be the odd man out in an outfield of Braun - Gomez - Khris Davis. They are looking for 1b bats and have been rumored to be interested in Corey Hart but might get outbid. Nobody will be outbidding them for Parmelee or Colabello.
  20. Fair enough. If his bat is good enough to stick then by all means I'd have Pinto in the outfield instead of Rosario. God knows he could hardly look any worse than Arcia out there. A good defensive catcher who can also hit is pretty invaluable. So is a good starting pitcher. So is a corner outfielder who can mash. If the Twins can fill two of those holes by making one, I think they would be wise to consider it, regardless of the names involved.
  21. I'd think about Fielder. He's the anti-Mauer in terms of durability and obviously has greater power potential.
  22. I'm not holding my breath for Parmelee or Plouffe, so Rosario would be my answer just because he hasn't busted yet. Trading Arcia would hurt. I like him, a lot. I think his talent is real and he seems to have an edge to him which I think this team is in desperate need of. But you know what they say about trades - in a fair one, both sides walk away pissed. I just view C and SP as bigger holes than corner outfield.
  23. Uggla is still only 33. I wonder if they'd throw him in as a salary dump? 2/26 left on that deal. Possible bounceback guy.
  24. http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2013/11/17/red-sox-could-benefit-from-snag-japanese-posting-system/U1FrWM12FW8iXfvQ7bThcM/story.html In order for the posting fee to count against luxury tax, MLB would have to re-open the CBA, so, doubtful.
