  1. So Doumit, Parmelee,Worley, Duensing, Keplar and Bard wouldnt get you a top 100 prospect ?or how about say Burch Smith?
  2. Alone ,No , but he could have ben packaged with a couple of players who wont be a Twin come opening day along with a prospect or 2 who wont be revelent to the teams success in the future , and yes we could have gotten a prospect or 2 with higher upside
  3. Whe Ryan signed Ricky , I was yes nice job Then he signed Hughes, and I thought ok young with upside good splits then came Mike , and its like um Terry been there done that ... Now we trade an asset (yes asset even if its not a big asset) for a sore armed 88mph fastball throwing lefty, and you know what ....Curly you just never learn, do ya? Once again our payroll is lower then the starting payroll of 2013 Yes the off season isint over , yes he might sign Reynolds or Suzuki, but to me they are not much if any thing to brag about
  4. I like this move from Atlanta side, they identified a prospect who had no real value for them and found a taker, a year early from having to be protected....As for the Twins side they cleared up some 40 man space, and brought payroll back down to 2013 level, but they got a poor mans diamond in this soft tossing controll pitcher, topping out at 89 mph and working mostly in the 87-88 mph range .So basically we gave away an asset for nothing
  5. You could even package them with a prospect or 2 who isnt revelant to the Twins future , or include Trevor Plouffe in the package
  6. Mark makes Trevor look like brooks robinson
  7. 2011 payroll 113.5 million so 30 million less
  8. My top 5 reasons for resigning Mike 5. If he fails as a starter , we can use him as a big foot mascote 4. Dominos can have a new add for when Pelfrey starts, 30 pitches or less quarentee 3. We can trade him to the wolves as a small foward 2.If we didnt sign him , Jim would have kept the money 1.It came down to Mike or Boof, But Boof wanted a 5 year deal
  9. Does that include the money from MLB-TV and internet feeds?
  10. I was suggesting that it would get us to 2011 attendence or more, let me ask you this, would you like a rotation of Grienke, Sanchez,Nolasco, Hughes and Correia? would you say that is a legit rotation top to bottom? well the only thing that keeps us from having it is money, (that wont be saved) that the shiny new stadium brought in
  11. Apperently they might cut former Twin Danny Valencia loose as well. Would Terry bring him back as a push for Plouffe?
  12. Kinda have to dont they, how many years will fans cling to we will be better next year ? 1 of the most confusing thing last year, was not finding out about certain players
  13. Just like the shinny new out door stadium , the fans of Minnesota want nothing more then to cheer for there teams , especially if the owners are willing to live up to there promises, signing both these guys would have driven up season ticket sales, and increased attendance, while i wouldnt expect them to go 29 -12 pitching with last years Twins defense, I would expect a 10-12 game swing directly from there efforts, and I would also expect the rest of the pitchers to step up there game, getting us to a .500 club and with that i would expect an additional 600-700,000 in attendance , maybe they wouldnt pay for them selfs, maybe ownership would have to cough up an extra 6-10 million per season...but to me it aint **** compared to having a chance to knowing your gona get bent over game after game..it also is ...they would ABOUT pay for themselfs
  14. hedge? ok ,I will accept that , but we couldnt hedge it with Hammel? why take Pelfrey again? or how about we already had #3-5 filled , and hedge with a #2 ?
  15. My prediction is after seeing the number Justin puts up ,Joe asks to be traded to the rockies and plays 3rd base and wins another batting title and the 3 amigos get there ring they should have won in minni....
  16. Bello and Diaz should be looked at very hard, and if they are thought to be ready or to be near ready ,we should spend what it takes, as we need another catcher and a Shortstop, both of these guys could grow up with the team and be part of the future
  17. Just because some one from this site hadnt wrote an article about rebuilding , doesnt mean most knew we were not in contention and some thing was up in letting free agents walk away, for picks, if that didnt mean we were rebuilding , not sure what does.Maybe you were confused ,because Terry didnt rebuild much Just 1 starter and 1 reliever were added during his rebuilding ....
  18. ticket prices were an average of 31.50+ in 2013 and if you add in concessions and merchandice ( whats the cost of 2 beers and a bag of peanuts?) We drew 2.4 million , it is reasonible to think the fan base would get excited by making 2 big signings and we would have an attendance over 3.millionor even 3.1 million , so with an increase of 700,000x 50 + the 10 million not spent on Pelfrey and Correia , these 2 about pay for themselfs(yes jimmy doesnt get his cut, but to me if hes looking to Pocket more profit from a team that flat out sucked for the last 3 years he is more greedy then most believe)
  19. As for Grienke wanting to come here, didnt he prefer to be in a small-mid market venue since he has that disorder? As for the arguement that the timing wasnt right to add quality players to your team ...bullcrunch, if you are doing your job and not worring about bonuses, you add as many quality players as you can afford to sign...and in 2013 we didnt....did we? Look I dont care, bottom line I dont care if we are rebuilding or going for a championship , but stop blowing smoke up the fans skirts, if we are rebuilding then Terry did a piss pour job of it, he picked up 1 pitcher and a reliever...and if we were going for a championship , well then he did even worse....66 wins not kewl, the only thing you get from straddling the fense is a case of the blue balls
  20. figure 5 million per 100,000 tickets and you will see that those 2 would have about paid for themselfs and the fan base would be happier, huh? would you be giddy to have those 2 in the top of our rotation?, would it have been nice to poach Sanchez from our foe?
  21. you dont think players look at being down 6-1 after 3 innings and after seeing this time and agian just dont have the same spirte, the same ummph for the game? Good pitching breeds good pitching, setting the bar highes makes other pickup the efforts, same as good hitting is contagouse...
  22. While I agree Worley showed nothing last year, dont forget, he was damaged goods when we traded for him, Do I think he will be the pitcher he was his first half season with the Phillys? No , But me thinks there is a 4-5th starter in him if healthy...
  23. Now they line up to trade twice broken pitchers and failed AA starters
  24. That is what is wrong with this team,HOPE We hope that Pelfrey becomes a better pitcher then his career stats We hope Hughes does better away from New York (im 1 of those ) We hope Willingham bounces back We hope that florimon can hit .240 and keep up solid D We hope Kubel Bounces back to Arizona type play We hope that Worley rebounds to his 1st year caliber play We hope that Plouffe can play average defense and remember how to hit We hope Hicks, We hope Mastroianni , We hope Presley, we hope we hope we hope we hope, about the only certains are Perkins and Joe
  25. So what would have happened if the Twins had signed both Grienke and Sanchez last off season?would have cost 45 million? But you would need to subtract the 10 million from Correia and Pelfrey, so it would have been 35 million, or a payroll simular to 2011s, What about an increase in ticket sales, instead of a decrease?Could 1 not make a point that those 2 would have paid for themselfs, and made the team better at the same time?
