  1. I had the same situation a year and a half ago. Same size lot. Takes me about 45 minutes to cut. The guy at Lowes told me not to bother with electric, if the grass gets too high they can't do the job. Plus you aren't saving anything, I'm still using the one gallon I bought last year, and we cut pretty much year round.
  2. About the relief pitchers, do they take these guys thinking they know more than the college managers? I didn't look to see if other teams do this, but if not you would think you could get them in later rounds. For all I know it's standard practice for MLB teams to convert college relievers to starters, but it seems like they used some relatively high picks to do so. Of course at this point it's hard to argue with the results.
  3. Looks like Buxton went from home to 3rd in about 10 seconds, 2nd to 3rd in about 3 seconds. He didn't take the best route either, which isn't to knock his base running skills but to point out how fast he is. He's like a track star when he gets in high gear.
  4. I will concur and take it one step further: I think Arcia will eventually hit 20-30 hr consistently, especially if he gets any bigger and stronger. Also we are about 3 years removed from signing a guy with 20 HR power for $1M. Those all power no average and/or glove guys are out there, the A's have half their roster composed of them. What they can't do, however, is sacrifice defense for a few home runs. Personally I can't stand one dimensional ball players like that excepting for a DH. Watching Michael Cuddyer carry a piano and let fly balls drop 20 feet in front of him for years has its consequences.
  5. In order for the Twins to field a team that could compete for a championship this year, they would have had to sign free agents for damn near every starting position and 4 of 5 starting pitchers. Neglecting for a minute the impossibility and unprecedented nature of this feat, it would have cost 300 million dollars. But the Pohlads surely are rich and can afford it so why not, right? Seriously, there isn't a need right now to load up with long term contracts for mediocre pitchers to win 83 games instead of 72. Wait until May and Gibson are up and Sano and Buck are knocking on the door, and use FA to fill some holes or add a good starter.
  6. Isn't Gibson still building up arm strength? If so are the Twins really that concerned with results? They know what he has, it's just a matter of time before he's up.
  7. Polanco sure likes to swing the bat. Not quite Danny Santana-like but he doesn't walk a lot.
  8. Dougie ball game thought they were throwing at Sano. After he hit the tape measure HR he got kicked out. there's a story on TD: http://twinsdaily.com/1600-sunday-minor-league-report-fireworks-palm-beach.html
  9. Walk off wins at the dome from something cheesy like an error or wild pitch were great. They would get so riled up they would threaten to punch each other in the neck. Usually they only threaten violence against other teams' fans.
  10. Jesse Crain meatball! I remember those!
  11. Ok Donny, we need you to come in and throw 4 balls to Mauer.
  12. Someone wake up Gardy and have him give Hicks the steal sign.
  13. Good now they won't bunt. Let the young man hit!
  14. Two gift runs. Not going to win many games doing that.
  15. I'm hoping Bruno helps with this. They have a lot of hitters who aren't very selective.
  16. They seriously called that routine fly ball a hit? I think I could play errorless OF in MLB today. I wouldn't get to anything, but if its off your glove and not an error?
  17. This. What is the point of having Hendriks go back, again, to AAA where he'll look great. If anything this could be worse for his development because whatever he's getting away with down there is not fooling anyone up here.
  18. IMO Willingham should have been in right field starting last year, he's got a good enough arm that he provides value out there. Parmelee has looked adequate enough though that he's not hurting you. At this point they're not moving Willingham from left though. If they are planning on keeping Arcia around and sending down Hicks I'd play Mastroianni in center 50% of the time and have Arcia in the lineup full time either in center or right. I don't care what they do with Doumit quite frankly. Parmelee needs ABs more.
  19. I'd love it but I don't think the Angels would.
  20. I like Bourjos but why not just let Mastroianni play there. Why give up any assets to win 71 games instead of 68?
  21. Now I know you are just looking to be inflammatory. Webb:
