  1. It was Parmelee but he was a late scratch with a sore groin. Escobar can't hit but he is a very good glove at all three spots. He is an acceptable utility guy.
  2. Did anyone catch Molitor's comments on Arcia? He restated the concern about him showing up a little out of shape. But what really caught my attention was how Molitor broke down his approach. He said Arcia does most his damage early in counts and panics a little as he gets deeper in the count. That strikes me as a big deal and something that might take more time than we appreciate strictly from Arcia's numbers. He has clear talent but might be a little further away than I thought.
  3. That international spending is a little low. They spent their cap and will again next year when they have the 4th highest amount. Can't do much about draft spending without forfeiting future picks.
  4. I still hate Tom Petty because of those concerts. He played the same set both nights and threatened to not have Vedder come out unless the crowd cheered more. I thought he should stop sucking. Crowd was ornery though it was fun. But we got half the Pearl Jam for twice the money. Riot Act is probably my favorite album.
  5. I like it, wouldn't say it is my favorite album (mostly because of how much I like many of their other albums). I would agree that it really does well live. I do have a story about Binaural that can bring it back to baseball a little bit. The day that Peter Gammons had his brain aneurysm (June 2006) Pearl Jam was playing at Xcel. They knew Gammons pretty well (he is a huge fan) so they asked for some good positive energy from the crowd on his behalf and then they dedicated "Light Years" to him, which was his favorite song at the time. Every time I hear that song or anything off of Binaural I always think of that moment. It was pretty awesome, especially since he recovered.
  6. I like Dozier but he is a marginal big league regular, it really shouldn't be that surprising that he struggled during his debut and it wouldn't be shocking if he ends up back in AAA at some point this season as well. I'm glad to read about some of the positivity on him though. It would be nice if he could stick for a while, perhaps even in the 2 hole, and solidify that position. At least until Rosario is ready.
  7. I wouldn't be shocked but a little surprised. Mostly because it appears he has clear things to work on and they won't have to add him to the 40 man until the 2015 season. There is a chance he could dominate and force himself on to the big league roster but I would find it doubtful they bring him up merely for a cup of coffee at the end of the year because of the roster considerations.
  8. I predict some clamoring to move Rosario to AA quicker than the Twins will move him but I would hope no one confuses success in Hi A with the potential to jump right to the majors.
  9. So now we are comparing Rosario to one of the best pure hitters who ever lived while simultaneously not allowing for any differences in baseball in the past 45 years?
  10. No Butera either.
  11. I mean without even being sneaky. I have brought sandwich bags or to go boxes from restaurants and there is no problem. Same with water.
  12. You can bring your own food and water into Target Field. Beer might be a little tricky.
  13. I think it is probably important to note that Lohse probably has some offers right now just not the money and/or years he wants. Twins won't get him for a huge discount.
  14. If your blog is as informative as the rest of your takes on this site I'll pass.
  15. mnfanlife - how long have you been following prospects? You have very interesting evaluations and expectations.
  16. This is the right point, though I don't think the presence or absence of Gibson will have much effect on ticket sales. How the Twins handle Gibson will be a good barometer of what the Twins front office truly thinks of this season. I think he goes north. If he ever has to be sent down due to ineffectiveness then they will make sure he is down long enough to impact service time.
  17. Of course I love Boom, but the organ is the only instrument they have really added outside of the guitars and drums. I am typically a huge fan of strings or horns on top of guitar/drums, would love to see Pearl Jam experiment with that at some point.
  18. I don't thonk they're in a hurry to get May to the majors. I would still wager he ultimately ends up in the back of the bullpen over the rotation.
  19. Grohl is a great talent. Big fan of Nirvana and Foo Fighters as well.
  20. I don't know if that's entirely fair. They play a range of styles and their sound has evolved quite a bit over two decades. They haven't really added instruments, they don't do a ton with percussion and Vedder's voice is what it is. I still see them as the quintessential garage band and they are extremely good live. That probably impacts my opinion as I have probably seen them 15 times in concert and they never disappoint and always mix up their sets.
  21. Tampa got that control by signing an extension well before free agency. Exactly what the Twins should do with Gibson if he is healthy and effective and rendering these service time machinations moot. If he's ready start him with the Twins.
  22. That sounds like a you problem. It's not for everyone.
  23. Most definitely. Can't beat two days at Alpine Valley, over 60 songs with one repeat, and a Temple of the Dog reunion.
  24. I'm on board with this. The Twins obviously have the money and if Gibson/May/Meyer all develop the team is not that far from contention in a year or two. A two year extension could lead to Morneau playing meaningful ball for the Twins.
  25. I'm an irrational Pearl Jam fan. Every album.
