  1. This whole strikeout pitcher and pitch count issue has gone a little too far. Imo this is true of guys with high K and BB rates. These guys tend to extend AB's to a lot of full counts and because they are walking batters they also face more batters/inning.
  2. it's even worse than that. Starters have a K/9 of 3.76. RP'ers check in at a still unimpressive 6.89. I think there has been a shift in philosophy recently. Meyer, May and Berrios were added in the last year and they all have strikeout stuff but it will take awhile for this to pay off.
  3. He has been used sparingly during 6 of those games while Hicks has been hopelessly flailing and needed some time off. If he Mastroianni had been available he would have played in more than just 2 games.
  4. 3 BB's, 0 K's in his last 5 PA's since moving down in the lineup. I guess that's progress.
  5. Perhaps you didn't notice this.
  6. Really? the problem is that this injury occurred during spring training and he has tried to play through it for 2-3 weeks. Most of the time he has been unavailable.
  7. At this point Meyer has the equivalent value of a very high draft pick that is a year or so away from the majors. That is probably better than any pitcher available to the Twins at #4 in the next draft as a comparison. Regardless of how Meyer turns out that was exactly what the Twins needed. If that isn't a good deal for the Twins then I'm baffled as to what it would take for it to be a good deal.
  8. Possibly but I never thought the BA would be high. I could see him hitting in the .260's with a .330 OBP. And he's pretty much the only option coming up through the system until Rosario or Buxton.
  9. It might make sense with the current lineup but Mauer is still a great 2/3 hitter. Of course the other issue is that there might not be a true leadoff hitter coming up for the Twins in the next couple of years.
  10. I agree that ETown is probably better than college ball but early rd college draft picks should dominate there just the same as they dominated in college. Imo until a college draft pick puts up good numbers in AA he's doing what he should be doing against lower level competition. It's encouraging that he has adjusted to starting though and hopefully he can move up at some point.
  11. ? I expect him to be better than Livan, Marquis, Ortiz, Ponson and the rest of the retreads that the Twins have brought in. Is that too much? Correia would be worth his contract if he had a 4.50 ERA and I would be very happy if it was better than 4.25. Do you feel differently?
  12. I think you might be reading a different thread than the rest of us.
  13. The great part isn't that it's a wash but it was absolute perfect for both teams.
  14. I look at it as what is the fastest you want to move him for the season. 2 levels in one season? 3 levels in one season? 4 levels in one season? I think the majority would say 2 levels in one season is the max imo. That puts him on track for a 'potential' September callup (like Arcia could have been) in 2014 or early 2015. that is really fast imo. Let him play half a season at each level.
  15. The evil part of me wanted Arcia to pass Hicks in hits. I want Aaron to do well but he's approaching (or passed) a historically bad start to a career.
  16. Correia is what he is. He won't be an attractive trade option. It would be a surprise to get any kind of significant prospect for him. The good news is that he's separating himself from the list of simply terrible veteran pitchers that the Twins have brought in over the years. Of course he should since he got a 2 yr deal. I will be very happy if puts up a <4.25 ERA this year. that's what he is.
  17. Nathan might be 40 but he will rack up some points in fantasy this season. Chacin isn't very interesting. He doesn't strike many batters out and walks quite a few. The Street trade is a pretty good one although if you end up missing the playoffs that could be become a valuable pick. Like Wacha or Puig (our two picks this year). I will be honest I hate closers in this league. I'm just glad that I was able to trade Austin frickin Hedges for Perkins. At least I have one. Picking up Shawn Camp and starting him led to me losing to Billy Buck this week. If he closes out that ballgame I might have gone 4-0.
  18. I think people need to stop talking about Arcia as a CF'er. He played there some in rk ball. He was forced to move due to other CF'ers on his team but he would have moved regardless of that. As a matter of fact he doesn't even project as an average corner OF'er. the only good news is that he will probably be much better than most of the corner OF'ers that have been out there recently. they are terrible.
  19. Options won't be an issue with Arcia since he just burned his first option this year. he will be up to stay before that 4th year. Easily.
  20. Let's not overreact to Slama's 'struggles'. These occurred in back to back days and I think Rochester tried to keep Slama out of the 2nd game and didn't use him until it went into extra innings.
  21. Imagine a time when there were too many pitchers for the Twins rotation.
  22. I'm hoping that the Twins do away with that 3rd catcher nonsense and Pinto seems like the perfect backup.
  23. There is absolutely no reason that the service clock should even be in the discussion. He will be up for 3 days and then sent down. 3 days of service time is meaningless unless he suffered a season ending injury in those 3 days.
  24. Nothing wrong with calling Arcia up for 3 days and getting him a couple of starts (my guess). It will be a surprise if they put him out there in CF though. If Mastro isn't capable of starting games to give Hicks a couple days off then they need to address that differently.
  25. Colabello keeps hitting with a 2/2 2BB day. The Twins version of Evan Gattis after toiling in independent ball for 7 yrs. Slama with a second straight ugly game. New Britain lit up top prospect Matt Barnes but Pinto is the only guy that interests me in that lineup. 1/3 2BB's. Sano! Morales 2/2 2BB's - he wants to be a prospect again. Zach Jones has 6IP, 7 K, 1BB 4 SV's this season Everyone hit a little as CR split its doubleheader.
