Oh, you have no argument from me on the pitch clock. You seriously don't notice it at all. It's just like netting. Once it's there, you don't notice it's there.

I was taught to watch how a catcher is leaning or a fielder is moving as the pitch is delivered. Every play, there are tons of little things going on to watch that indicate what is about to happen. Same with football. Tony Romo's no genius, it's simply watching indicators that make things fairly predictable. Part of the fun of the game is trying to guess ahead of the action. When you start looking for that, there's a LOT of movement between every pitch.

That's just it. There's plenty of moving and shifting going on between pitches, even with no one on base, but between plays in football, it's a constant loop of the last play. With baseball, the coverage immediately cuts off replay the moment the pitcher goes into motion, so unless they know they have a moment, they don't throw a replay up.

This is the case in the minor leagues. You barely notice the pitch clock at all. The extra inning rules, on the other hand....

Nah, teams put enough value into their draft picks that if you threaten the draft picks, international pool money, AND revenue sharing money for teams that don't spend to a certain level, you'd get a pretty universal response.

Then no one should ever watch football. The ball is in play for roughly 7-12 minutes of an average 3 hours on a Sunday. There's more than just the "lack of activity" as any baseball fan knows there's constant activity between pitches going on, just like there is between plays in football.

As I view, the Twins are in the top 5-7 systems in the game right now. The Padres, Rays, and Braves are the clear top 3, and then there's a glut from 4 through about 12, though, so I can understand a lot of teams in that range.

The average major league team used 10 starting pitchers in 2018. Having a set 5 or even set 6 going into the season doesn't mean you won't see someone else get quite a few starts. I can tell you one team that would love to move a consistent #3/#4 guy with a few years of control for an outfielder...

The two I'd talk on would be the DH. I'm very anti-DH, but I'd like to see one rule across the league. I do think you could see where Jerry Crasnik's influence in the MLBPA begins to show up here. Crasnik once proposed an option that would be interesting where he suggested the DH be tied to the starting pitcher. Once the starter goes out, the team either has to remove the reliever when the DH spot comes up in the lineup to retain the DH or let the reliever hit/use a pinch hitter.

I didn't address this at the time, but on point A... You have Berrios make a full season of starts this year. That puts him firmly in the 20+ start category. Adalberto Mejia already has 25 MLB starts under his belt. If Romero were to take a starting job for two months of the 2019 season even, he'd eclipse 20 starts as he has 11 already. Chase De Jong is in roster limbo presently, but if he's around, he does have 8 starts to his MLB credit. Gonsalves has 4, and adding 16 more is simply having a rotation spot 5 times through. In the middle of the summer, you could do that in two months, though to open the season, it'd take more April through June with added early off days in order to make it. Stewart also has 4, so ditto the Gonsalves explanation. Littell only has 2 MLB starts, so he has work to put in. Obviously, guys like Thorpe, Jax, and Wells have none. The point is not to have Berrios and a band of inexperience in 2020. You utilize the rotation to see what you have in guys like Romero, Gonsalves, and more this summer so you can determine which guys are part of the 2020 rotation and which guys need to be in the minors longer and/or are no longer part of the long-term plans. That informs your ability to then enter a free agent class that has some fairly nice names in the 2019-2020 offseason presently: Madison Bumgarner Gerrit Cole Kyle Gibson Cole Hamels Matt Harvey Miles Mikolas Rick Porcello Chris Sale Justin Verlander Michael Wacha Zack Wheeler Alex Wood A whole slew of guys have options, Strasburg and Arrieta have opt-outs (as does Darvish, but yeah...), and there will be more non-tendered. Good time to hit the market with funds available and a rotation needing a few top arms...

Yikes... That was not a defense of the initial response. It was a defense of why people attending the rally and even the Black Israelites would be immediately triggered and on guard by that hat. No mud was slung, but if that's what you need to say to feel better, go ahead. This whole issue is really exhausting my faith in many people.

In this thread, multiple have referred to the MAGA hat as a trigger to those who are of different races and/or nationalities due to abuse received by those wearing those hats. Assuming that any issue with those hats IN THIS CASE has to do with political leanings is disingenuous.

Which whole video, Levi? You've come in ranting for folks to eat crow. I had not responded to the initial video. It sickened me, and it was something I wanted to just see go away in my feed. However, when suddenly every right-wing, conservative person in my newsfeed was ranting on how the boys were "innocent", there's crow to be served all over the place as more videos get released. Talking with a friend who reports with CNN about why updated/new videos aren't getting push, he said that the story is absolutely toxic. Producers and editors don't want to touch it, so they're told they can retweet blankly videos on social media, but they are to refrain from adding commentary. The first "full-length" video has now been shown to have been scrubbed in audio and edited in two places. Yet, it's still the primary video used as "the boys were innocent" argument.

It's funny that the national anthem before a sporting event is still a thing...

There are dozens of videos out at this point, along with long-form social media posts from multiple attendees of the Native gathering. When multiple people from multiple tribes (and anyone Native will know that a gathering like this is about the only time people from various tribes will ever agree) have very similar reports of phrases like "prairie n****r" coming from the boys once they arrived. That report was on a Reuters news report that I played with my children present (not knowing that would be in the news report, obviously). I've now had the conversation with my 4 Native children about what that phrase means. Two cried. One asked why someone would not like her just because she's Native. One asked if that will go away when they're adopted. The oldest is 7. That's what this moment has opened up.

The Black Israelites provoke anyone and everyone and did such to plenty of the people in the Native rally. That is not a statement attempting to say their actions toward the youth walking by were acceptable by any means, and that gross misrepresentation has already been attempted earlier. It's a statement of fact in that situation. They were trying to engage and enrage, and they found an easy mark in youth who had put on MAGA hats in order to provoke a reaction when they got to what they knew would be a crowd not for them. These boys were warned not to go to the Lincoln Memorial due to the Indigenous gathering and made the conscious choice to do so, and they added the hats along the way. Phillips was attempting to work to the middle of the Black Israelites and the boys to stand between both groups and was blocked by one of the boys intentionally. Phillips also then led a group to the church in DC that sponsored the rally the boys used taxpayer funds to attend, and he protested during their service, attempting to force his way into the service. There really were no persons involved here without tarnish. However, attempting to show tarnish on any one of them seems to turn into an explosion of misperceptions of what is truly said.
