  1. So what will Hunter's real value be to the team ? Only time will tell. Some times we ask why the Twins signed player A instead of player B. Maybe player B didn't want to sign with the Twins.
  2. Imagine if you had Vargas, Pinto and maybe even Sano as your 1B/DH combination. Maybe they should be looking at Mauer in the outfield.
  3. How about Nolasco to the Dodgers for Either? I would even eat part of Nolasco's contract.
  4. We all know that ace pitchers grow on trees. All you have to do is pick one off the branch. Ha. I would rather have three or four really good quality starters, Three quality late inning guys, a good defense and an offense that scores runs.
  5. I would add Eddie Rosario, Jorge Polanco, Jose Berrios and possibly Nick Bundi to appear in Twins uniform before the end of the season.
  6. I believe he needs to change his stance. If he lowers his hands in his stance his hands will naturally come up or stay at the top of the strike zone when he strides. Todays game showed that his hitch and pitch recognition need a lot of work. Bad habits are hard to break. I hope someone can get to him before its to late.
  7. A very good article. As I mentioned before, the great Ted Williams had a hitch in his swing early in his career. His adjustment was to lower his hands in his stance. As he triggered his hands would come up to the top of the strick zone. He could then hit the high pitch as well a recognized it. He also could drop the barrel of the bat down on the lower pitchers. Maybe the recognition part of his set up was the key.
  8. Am I looking at the same Arcia that everyone else is? Yes, he has power when he makes solid contact. However, that solid contact is very streaky. I actually see him as a .200 hitter that may get 20 homeruns. He has some real holes in his swing that major league pitchers recognize. I fear his plate discipline may not get a whole lot better. With some good minor league hitters coming up, why not put him on the trading block? If he is as good as everyone believes he should bring some real value.
  9. I have been asking this question for a few weeks. Is Pinto the future Twins catcher? His throwing may never be much better. Do the twins want to put their young pitchers in his hands?
  10. Ted Williams once had a similar hitch in his swing. His adjustment was to lower his hands in his stance so that as he would make his stride his hands would naturally come up. Arcia needs to become more of a student of the game and make these adjustments. Sometimes simple adjustments will bring great results.
  11. Lets looks further down the road, say 2016 or 2017. If Buxton and Arcia pan out then how about guys like: Adam Brett Walker , Daniel Ortiz or even Max Kepler. At least one of these guys should be ready. Rosario could also be in the mix.
  12. My predictions for what its worth. 1. Twins will pickup two free agent pitchers. Who those two will be is any ones guess. Meyers will be up by July and be successful. Gibson will have his ups and downs through out the season. 2. Mauer stays somewhat healthy and hits .320 with 15 dingers. 3.Willingham and Doumit will have better seasons but not great years. One or both will not finish the year as a Twin. 4. The Pinto situation depends on the Twins bringing in a veteran catcher. He will end up as an above average offensive catcher and a little shaking defensively. His defensive skill will continue to improve and will be the starter by years end. 5.
  13. Very good article. Tempo and command seem to be his biggest problem. What he really needs is a few weeks working on those two things. Would he qualify for the 15 day DL, based on his previous injury?
  14. Escobar should be the regular SS but he may be too valuable in his current role.
  15. Good Post. Diamond's performance was also encouraging. Who would have guessed that the Twins pitching has been pretty good early in the year. Burton and Perkins have been outstanding as well.
  16. I agree with RodneyKline, that the walks are not an encouraging sign. He is getting himself into too many two strike counts. The book on him is pretty simple. Throw him fastball, fastball and then a breaking pitch. Has he had a hitters count all year? I'm still high on Hicks but he needs to change his approach at the plate.
  17. It looks like Sano may be ready by next year. They need to move him up the latter soon. That is great news for Twins fans. If Hicks can straighten out his game and Arcia can handle the pressure of the big league the Twins could become an exiting team to watch. If two or three of the young pitchers can make the leap to the bigs, then the Twins could be in the hunt next year.
  18. I am big Willingham fan and would like to see the Twins keep him. They need his right handed bat in the lineup. If the Twins wanted to put their best lineup on the field, they should go with this lineup: 2b Escobar, C Mauer, Lf Willingham, 1b Morneau, DH Parmalee/Doumit, Rf Arcia, 3b Plouffe, Cf Hicks, SS Florimon. If Florimon faulters then Escobar to SS and Dozier back in the lineup. The pitching staff is another question.
  19. What is the Harden situation as of now?
  20. It appears that the Twins do not have a centerfielder in the organization that is ready for the majors. What is the solution? Trade for a centerfielder or try another prospect to see if he will step up. Lets see if the GM can get the job done.
  21. Coachable players make great coaches. Many young players need to fail before they will accept the advise that may save their careers. Is Tom Brunansky a great hitting coach or at the right place at the right time for some of these players?
  22. It would be good to see Plouffe step it up but he still looks like a stop gap player untel Sanu is ready.
  23. Ok, so we think Buxton is at least 4 yrs out. Who in this draft will be the first to play in a twins uniform?
