  1. If Arcia is on the 40 man why was Carson playing in Sept and not Arcia? Carson is a 30 yr old and not our future. Even if only 20 ab's (Carson had 45 in Sept/Oct) he gets the taste of great food, good travel and nice hotels would give him a little boost going into the winter to really "get after it" next year. 45 wasted ab's on a career minor league player that has no long term future with the team just doesn't make any sense, imo.
  2. When do Hicks and Arcia have to be put on the 40 man?
  3. They should spend whatever it takes to give us a good team. They are the richest owners in pro sports, if they lose a few million it's like most of us getting that big gas bill in Jan. It puts a dent in the wallet but you get by. Target field is a cash cow and the fans spending the cash and helping pay off the field deserve better than what we've had the last 2 years.
  4. I'll ask again how is Baker going to be ready before Gibson when he had his surgery 9 months later?
  5. They traded with the Angels to get Bruno.
  6. Joe signed his contract before the Twins had played a game at Target Field. He still was under contract for 2010 when he signed (March 2010) the new contract that started in 2011. Small error. I would listen and consider any offers. Joe while a very good some say great player he isn't the kind of player to carry a team. For 23 mill a year you should, at times, be that player, imo. Twins pr is bad enough right now trading him would cause a riot.
  7. He plays for the Yankees what other reason do you need or is this a Minnesota nice trick question?
  8. No save the money for the sweet swinging DeRosa.
  9. I would agree. Plouffe at second base and his bat is suddenly good. A 2b with some pop is a good thing. Youk would be a good hard nosed player to have on the team and he would be another right handed bat. If it means Plouffie has to bat second maybe not. I have no doubt that with Vavra's coaching the entire infield play will improve. Vavra has a long distinguished career of infield instruction.
  10. De Rosa in 2012, .188 ave, .247 slg, .547 ops and an ops + 52 he swings a big (?) bat the problem is he misses most of the time. Makes Butera look like Babe Ruth. Maybe you should define swing a big bat!
  11. Time to look forward no more old retreads please!
  12. I don't understand why people keep bringing up Baker like he can be plugged into the rotation day 1. Gibson had his surgery last yr late summer. He is now building arm strength 14-15 months after his surgery and he is several years younger. Baker had his surgery in late March? so on the same time frame as Gibson he'd be starting to pitch around the end of spring training. It would likely be late May or June before he'd be ready to help a rotation. Now if everything went perfect you might get 15-20 starts out of him in the second 2/3 of the season. This rotation will need help when the season starts, in May or June they may already be out of it if the don't.
  13. online fan voting = stupid award, imo.
  14. They should offer him the Red Wings job if Glynn is promoted!
  15. The list above that I posted (all pitchers #1-#9 from 2001-2009) indicate that their floors were probably not Scott Baker and that it was unlikely that they hit it. Despite evidence to the contrary, I will believe what I want. Words to live by!!!!
  16. I would like to see them bring in Omar Visquel as the 1b coach and infield coach. He just retired and they were talking about him wanting to coach during the last series against the Jays. Might not have the credentials for the job like Vavra, however. I agree with Seth on the "pay your dues" requirement as nonsense.
  17. No reason to compare him to Baker. Baker is coming off TJ surgery, no way to tell if he will be any good after that, some are some aren't. He likely won't be back (starting) until May or June and he isn't under contract unless you pick up the option. Baker is a non factor until he proves he can pitch again and he is signed. Shields would likely be a top 5 starter in the Central. Besides Verlander and Sales who is better?
  18. Can't really think he'd be cheap probably at least 2 of our top 10 prospects or more. Giving up multiple top prospects with the chance he walks after the season is not a typical TR type deal. I think he moved away when he was very young but he could give us a discount like Mauer did! I still think a deal centered around Span and Shields makes the most sense. Fills a need for them he is from Tampa and it saves them a bunch of money.
  19. "Sabermetrics has proven wins and losses is an antiquated stat." Not sure this is true sense they still use that antiquated win/loss stat to decide which teams make the playoffs at the end of the season.
  20. Isn't this a little like going to the Dr and he says I have bad news you have brain cancer. But the good news is we can cure it by cutting off your arms and legs.
  21. Wonder where the brain trust for Twins Daily has been all day? Odd they would be silent on all this.
  22. "Ah, but the "Triumverate" of Gardenhire - Anderson - Ullger looks like it may remain intact." It would appear so. It may be time for a contest to name the three ____________ examples are: little pigs, kings, amigos, blind mice, horsemen, musketeers, wise-men and my favorite stooges!
  23. I wonder if the Red Wing job could go to Redmond?
  24. It would seem you start at the top work your way down. If this is the top down move then Hattaway indeed could be next. The bullpen coach probably has the least impact of any coach. His basic job is to answer the phone, get the right guy up to warm up and tell the pitching coach when he's ready. Now is it possible that Stelly has bad phone skills, possible, or is it possible he didn't keep enough sunflower seeds on hand, seems more likely.
