  1. Good to see Danny Santana getting his bat going the last couple of weeks. If he continues to trend upward what is his avg/obp threshold where the decide they have to give him a look?
  2. Great article. I also love his upside but am nervous what early success would mean with Boras as his agent. Can't imagine he would be a Twin for long..
  3. "He pitched two days ago with a high of 95".....um, is he a reliever by trade at this point or are they abusing him a bit?
  4. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/08/twins-outright-blackburn-nishioka.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+MlbTradeRumors+%28MLB+Trade+Rumors%29 Nishi and Blackie off the 40 man...who's coming to mpls! Round 3 for Hendriks?
  5. I was listening to the game last night on my way home from a wedding (Gladden didn't kill me this time but one of these days I will fall asleep behind the wheel and accidentally crash into, and kill, a family of 6...which is why it's irresponsible at best to allow Gladden near a microphone), and good old G money briefly mentioned some sort of roster action involving Blackburn coming in the next few days.....any idea what he was hinting at?
  6. Somewhat unrelated but...if Rosario wouldn't have ate that grounder this year I wonder if he would have been in the conversation for September. With him coming up (and escobar getting brought in) I'm assuming that's a pretty good hint the Twins don't have much intent for Casilla to be part of the team past this year?
  7. Agreed, good article to start the work week. I keep hearing about him being undersized and destined for blah blah blah but I don't think I've heard anyone talk up his smooth delivery which makes me feel even better about him. Excited to watch his progression.
  8. With the players coming up that could potentially be available as early as sometime next season (especially at 2nd....shortstop iffy) I would say leave those spots alone and focus any transactions on acquiring pitching. The WE NEED PITCHING argument is getting old to talk about, but we are going to have to repeat this frustration for a loooong time if something isn't done there.
  9. By far the best Twins community out there, great job guys! I followed the content and forum discussions on my reader for a while before I even signed up to start contributing...great stuff!
  10. The way Escobar's stats look up to this point It would seem he won't ever have more than a cup in Minneapolis if that.....especially with Rosario coming through. I agree with some of you though...I would rather trade for a few guys that can at least stock the farm and give those managers a little consistency than let him go for nothing after he sucks again and loses what little trade value he had. Frankie will most likely no hit the twins...but then he will absolutely s*** the bed in the playoffs and the universe will be right again.
  11. LOL this video made me happy. I haven't been a huge fan of Gomez since he traded in his potential as a leadoff hitter and turned into a self proclaimed masher Willie Mays Hayes style.
  12. Any good links on him that are worth reading? My google foo is letting me down on him.
  13. Trading him will be the safest bet.... It's very unlikely we will get the appropriate amount of value from a sandwich pick if we let him turn down the qualifier unless we take a risk on a high upside/low likelihood guy that works through our system and finds top of the rotation stuff (keyword RISK) If we sign him to an extension we are counting on the bubblegum and his new best friend butera fixing him for good and being the guy we always hoped. Unfortunately we all know how frankie is, and after 2 more years of incredible disappointments and brief flashes of brilliance his value will be shot and we will get nothing in return for his departure but the fantastic(?) memories (holy RISK) We may not get A talent from trading him, but at least we will get some bodies that will most likely spend some time in Minneapolis.
  14. Are we really a bigger market and bigger revenue team than all of them awarded? http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/07/competitive-balance-lottery-results.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+MlbTradeRumors+%28MLB+Trade+Rumors%29 I'm at work = don't want to do any fangraphing
  15. When we signed this kid I was pretty excited with what was being wrote about him as a 16 year old as a possible top of the rotation guy down the road (barring about a million things). Does anyone know why he has spent the year as a reliever? Or is it protocol to start out very young players this way (turns 17 this month)?
  16. You were one of those people that argued with anyone that got happy for mauer on that shot last night huh. Weird how this is becoming such a thing.
  17. When it's raining out and the bottom of your jeans get wet for the rest of the day.
  18. The twins really have had awful luck with pitching prospects. I don't know what is more frustrating.....having all our prospects go down with TJ or finally landing a true ace and watching him leave once he gets those dollar signs in his eyes.
  19. I don't know why all the rush for a league ready pitcher. Wouldn't it be smarter to get a very nice prospect that is 2 or 3 years out instead of a league ready 3 spot guy that will waste his first 2 or 3 years throwing on a noncontending team? There is more risk that way but I believe our potential depth at both leadoff and OF justify it. We aren't EVER getting past the yankees in the first round if we don't figure out some way to get some true top of the rotation talent.
  20. There's nothing better to me than a pitcher's dual. Every pitch has purpose, and every pitch could turn the game around.
  21. Mauer ratio of the day: The pigskin route: Injuries sustained at Florida State > Snaps taken at Florida State My guess... 9 to 7
  22. I don't know if this is a Good Will Hunting reference, but if it is, you sir just made my week.
  23. Good call bringing Sano into the convo, we need to have some ready for his call up. Plouffalouffagus has been a household name here lately. Not sure what it means but fun to say when he blasts one out.
  24. This is a good, recent example: http://www.startribune.com/sports/154883415.html He sounds like that buddy everyone has that is about 5 beers deep and starts handing down baseball knowledge after watching a weekend game if he's not busy and maybe baseball tonight a few nights a week.
  25. Throwing upper 90s doesn't make you a major league caliber pitcher. If that were true, baseball would be overrun with capable pitchers and the Twins would make it past the 5th inning with their starters more than 20% of the time (too lazy to look up the actual percentage). I think Hicks has a MUCH, MUCH greater possibility contributing as an outfielder than learning a new skill at age 22.
