  1. They refused to move tallion or Cole for Upton so why would they do it for wilingham? Adding fillers wont help. Best case is we get hermida.
  2. He also has a pretty good bb/k ratio of 7/9. I'm all for moving up Buxton when the time is right but like a lot of people I don't think that is till the all star break. Also, his sb/cs ratio is pretty poor at 5/3. A player with his speed shouldn't be caught at that high of clip.
  3. Spend it all or trade it all, i dont care. Just don't leave any money on the table. This is one more asset the Twins get and need to be smart with it. Lots of teams are going to be looking for extra money.
  4. Needs to cut down on those walks. If he can do that he is going to be a stud
  5. While he didn't have Windle on the list, it must be an error, he did have another UM LHP Shelton on the other names to know list. He also had two Minnesota HS players in his top 50. Also, I completely disagree that Manaea is a lock at 4 unless he gains his cape cod form back. Twins proved last year they are taking the BPA regardless of position. While he easily could be the BPA at 4 he isn't a lock IMO. Way too many question marks.
  6. Keith law has Stanek at 10, dropping from 4, on his updated draft list. When BA did their updated list a few weeks ago they had Stanek at 18, was 5, but since then he has had 2 good outings. Hopefully he keeps it up and gets back into the top 5 discussion.
  7. Keith Law released his new top 50 list today and I was surprised to see Windle absent. Law had him ranked #40 on his last list. Everything else I have read about Widdle has him moving up so I'm not sure why Law dropped him. I hope to make his chat tomorrow and ask.
  8. Keith Law released his updated top 50 list today which has Gray, unsurprisingly, at 2 behind Appel. ESPN had a good AND free article up about the "rise" of Gray. Link below: Oklahoma's Jonathan Gray has climbed MLB draft boards this spring - college baseball - ESPN
  9. Keith law talked to Kiley McDaniels this week on his pod cast, behind the dish, about the draft. The most interesting part to me was their conversation about Mr.Anderson and why he might drop in the draft. While Kiley still has Anderson in his top ten Law has dropped him from 12 to 24. For anyone interested in the upcoming draft its a great listen AND free! Behind The Dish - ESPN
  10. He has Meadows at 3. Manaea has upside be he does worry me a bit with the decrease in velocity and inconsistent slider. Both were plus to plus-plus pitches in the cape cod league.
  11. What a great day for Twins minor league baseball. Gibson and May pitch, fort Myers goes for win #12, and kernels play a double header. Count me in as a person who checks the Twins box scores constantly throughout the day. This is the best overall group of talent that I can remember in a long time and it will only get better in June!
  12. Under the new draft rules the Twins could actually spend an extra ~$410,000, right under 5% of their total draft allotted, with out losing any future picks. This would give them ~8,674,400 to play with. The Blue Jays used this strategy last year. They would have to pay a 75% tax on ever dollar spent past the draft allotment though.
  13. While it is great to see Stanek, or any other draftee for that matter, improving their stock he still has a long ways to go to get back into the top 5 discussion.
  14. No one has said either side has won the trade yet. While Meyers has not thrown a pitch at "the major league level" that doesn't change the fact that he is one of the few pitchers in the minors who profiles as an ace. These dudes don't grow on trees. Heck, the current draft has only two college arms who profile as aces and they most likely will be gone in the first two picks. You have to give value to get value.
  15. Baseball America released their first prospect hot sheet of the year and the Twins started off strong with three in the top 10. Arcia at 3, Buxton at 4, and Sano at 8. Getting the weekly honor for helium prospect was Tyler Duffey after throwing 7 perfect innings, which he dedicated to his mom who past away last year, against Beloit. They linked a great article about the win and Tyler Duffey which is well worth the read. It was a great week in the minors for Twins fans and let's home they keep up the good work. Link to BAs hot sheet below: Prospect Hot Sheet: Tony Cingrani Leads The April 12 List - BaseballAmerica.com I will update this whenever a Twins is on the list.
  16. "probably doesn't fit until the back of the first round unless the velocity he flashed earlier in the season returns." Stuff-89-93 fastball with issues commanding it, slider was still a wipe out pitch, fringy curve, and an average change up.
  17. I have stewart ahead of manaea and Denny but other than that we have the exact same list. Well, I also have Stewart, manaea, and Denny in a different tier from the rest of those arms. The twins are the n a really interesting spot at 4 and I can't wait till the draft.
  18. I have Denny ranked 7 on my personal top 10 list for the draft. The fact his bat will play almost any where takes some pressure off his catching status.
  19. Oh and regarding drafting high school catchers and success rate law answered a question about it today. Jumped into the chat late...why do you think HS catchers have has such a failure rate as high draft picks? [h=6]Klaw [/h] That's a $2 million question. Are their bodies too worn out by the time they get into pro ball? Do we obsess too much over catching/throwing skill and not enough over the bat? The last drafted HS catcher to amass over 3 WAR as a big league catcher was Brian McCann in 2002. That's a pretty big sample.
  20. From callis' April 10th chat How far is Ryan Stanek falling? Jim Callis: He’s starting to turn it back around and I see him going in the teens, with the possibility of moving up further in the next two months. Reading the rest of his chat you can clearly tell callis doesn't have stanek as an option for the Twins at 4 currently. Hopefully he can find some consistency and pitch his way back into the picture.
  21. From Callis' April 10th chat about the Twins and windle. When the Twins draft at 43, will Tom Windle be worthy of that pick? Jim Callis: Yes, but may not last that long.
  22. From Jim Casllis' April 10th chat regarding Buxton. While the Twins are noted for moving their prospects along slowly, do you believe Buxton could merit a bump to Ft. Myers sometime this season if he continues on his current pace? Jim Callis: As much as I like Buxton, I’ll take the under when it comes to maintaining a 1.515 OPS. Even if he tears up the Midwest League, I still think the Twins will keep him there for all or most of the season. Clearly the minor league season just started, no reason to overreact to small sample size, but is there a chance Buxton has a better hit tool than expected? Jim Callis: No. As you mention, small sample size, but I think most clubs evaluated him as a plus hitter and some gave him double-plus grades. I know you can't just much off of a handful of games- but WOW, Byron Buxton, man. As a Twins fan I'm thanking HOU for passing on him. This dudes ceiling seems limitless. With his overall game, do you see him surpassing Sano as #1 Twins prospect? Still look like a Mike Trout comparison? Jim Callis: I ranked him ahead of Sano on my personal list coming into the year (though Sano was close behind him on my Top 50). He might have the best package of tools and aptitude in the minors.
  23. Currently no one is arguing that Manaea or Anderson or Shipley or Stewert or Stanek or Gray or Appel wont be the BPA by draft time. This isnt pitcher vs hitter. This is people saying they don't want the Twins to say I'm drafting X no matter what. What the Twins need today might not be what they need in a year or two. Anyways back to Buxton....in a different thread I think I remember seeing Seth say Buxton could steal 80 bags this year. Setting the over/under at 60. I'm going with 54.
  24. A million bucks is a ton of money! Don't think I said it wasn't. I just don't think it is a no brainier as people make it out to be.
  25. This makes me sad. Im really enjoying following all our minor league teams this year.
