1. From Keith laws chat: Bobby Wahl - dominant at Ole Miss this year. 1st round pick this year? Can he continue as a starter going forward? [h=6]Klaw (1:29 PM) [/h] Reliever. I don't think he's a day one draft, although it only takes one team that thinks he's a starter to do so.
 2. From Keith laws chat: Odds that either Frazier or Meadows falls to the Red Sox at #7 in the draft are? [h=6]Klaw (1:13 PM) [/h] Given the top 5 I projected above, I think at least one gets there, very good chance both do. Any chance Frazier or Meadows falls out of the top 10? [h=6]Klaw (1:27 PM) [/h] Very unlikely. Meadows more likely to slide than Frazier, but neither would get very far anyway. I think both guys and Reese McGuire go in teh 6-10 range.
 3. Regarding Stewart today in Keith Laws chat: Law- Having talked to more scouts this week, I think I'll have Stewart a little lower on the next top 100 because of concerns about his durability. It's top-of-the-rotation stuff, but there are real concerns about whether he'll ever be a 200-inning guy. Can you expand a little on why Stewart may not be durable? Are there mechanical issues? [h=6]Klaw (1:15 PM) [/h] He's had a lot of minor injuries or other issues (not makeup stuff, all physical) that have kept him from making starts on time. It's a minor red flag, but something to consider if you're looking at him with a top 10 pick. I still think he's the best prep arm in the draft.
 4. BA released their All-Prospect Team for April and no surprise Buxton and Sano made the list. Here is what they had to say about our two studs: Sano- While you wouldn’t want to bet the house on Sano continuing to hit .441 on balls in play, he could make a run at the FSL record for home runs in a season—Jim Fuller with 31 in ’71—and he led the circuit with a .368 average, nine homers, a .747 slugging percentage and 17 extra-base hits in April. Buxton: Not often do elite raw tools turn into elite production this quickly for teenagers in the MWL—Justin Upton put up a .757 OPS for South Bend in ’06, for example—but Buxton led the circuit with a .392 average, .684 slugging percentage and 25 runs scored in April. The Twins, Braves, and Mets were the only teams with two prospects and the Indian's Lindor was the only other AL Central prospect to make it. 5. Great read and thanks for sharing. I think this first month we have been so spoiled with our top prospects performing so well we sometimes forget they are human. Meyers is going to be a beast!
 6. Jason Churchill did a mini poll of his sources, mostly crosscheckers and scouting supervisor, on Stanek, Eades, and Manaea and this caught my eye: What about Manaea? "He has a chance to be the best of the three," the senior scout continued. "The problem is there's more hope involved. When your'e drafting a college pitcher that high, usually the preference is to avoid a lot of risk like that." Manaea only has four more starts till the draft so hopefully he can show scouts something. I know his risk scares me.
 7. An interesting comment by Jason Churchill: "In most of my conversations over the past week or so, clubs appear to want to draft positions players, and in some cases it seems they may reach a little bit to get one, rather than taking a pitcher. This means a lot of teams in the middle of the first round could end up targeting the best position player available. The result of that may be that prep arms such as St. Ignatius Prep (San Francisco) lefty Matt Krook, fall to clubs like the Atlanta Braves at No. 31, the fourth pick in the sandwich round." Why I find this interesting is because Law on one of his pod casts mentioned he could see people in the later part of the first round going lots of college pitchers. This isn't the NFL draft where people can trade picks so I don't think either of these are smoke screens. If this plays out like this there could be a ton of solid HS arms at 43 for the Twins to pick from.
 8. The only thing that can stop Sano and the Miracle is the rain....
 9. Just because next year looks like a better overall class that doesn't mean the Twins would get a better prospect at 5 next year. This draft is weak because of it's depth, not the top level talent. Who ever the twins take at 4 is going to be a great prospect be it Bryant, Stewart, Manaea, or whom ever.
 10. Definitely a fun read! I love how it starts. "It’s a pretty easy claim to make. The Miracle finished April with the best record in the minors, 21-4. They are third in the minors in run differential (+50) and fifth in runs scored despite playing in the high Class A Florida State League, where runs are scarce. As you would expect, the four teams ranked above them are all clubs that play either in the California or Pacific Coast leagues, far and away the two highest-scoring leagues in the minors." Maybe BA had it right when they had Sano AND Buxton in their top 10 to start the year.
 11. For those of you following the Twins minor league system it should come as no surprise that the 21-4 Miracle are BA's pick for best minor league team for the month of April. Not only that, the 18-5 Cedar Rapids come in second on the list. Its a great article that is well worth the read. I don't really have anything else to say but.....GO TWINS! 12. It's hard not to get excited about the draft after seeing how well all the recent draft picks are doing already. We have one of the best, if not the best, farm system in baseball and in a little over a month we will be adding more talent. While who the Twins will draft is still up in the air, no matter what we will still be getting a top 100 level talent at 4.
 13. I have Stewart at 3 on my board and Bryant at 4 so I would be happy with either. There is risk in all players college or HS, Alex Wimmers, but I understand the concerns about taking a HS pitcher that high. After saying that, I'm not to worried about Stewart. Smart kid, already has 2 above average pitches, and is super athletic. Worth the risk IMO.
 14. From Christopher Crawford's chat today regarding the Twins at 4:

Comment From Kyle With the lack of top tier pitching prospects in the organization should the Twins only consider a pitcher at #4 or should they go BPA?

3:02 Always, always go BPA. That being said, I've heard more pitchers connected to them, though I know they like Kris Bryant a lot, too.
15. From Christopher Crawford's chat:

Comment From Matt is there any chance stewart still goes to school?

3:09 I think a slim, slim chance. Ten percent or so. He's just too talented to not end up on a baseball diamond though.
16. From Christopher Crawford's chat:

The Twins took a bunch of college relief pitchers last year with the hope to convert some to starters. Can you give us some names that fit that bill? Thank you.

3:23 One that could fit that would be Andrew Mitchell, but he's not going to be around for them to take. Not a real strong relief crop this year.
There is information on Andrew Mitchell in the Potential Second Round College Arms thread.
 17. From Christopher Crawford's chat:

Do you see a chance for any CUSA guys going in the top 39 picks

3:11 Absolutely, Aaron Blair, a right-handed pitcher out of Marshall should go on day one. 6-5, 220 with a plus fastball and good breaking-ball.

How far has Jonathon Crawford's stock fallen? Is he likely a 2nd rounder now?

3:14 Going to depend on his signability and if a team thinks he can start. I think he probably goes day one, but I wouldn't take him. Reliever.
18. From Christopher Crawford's chat:

Best player that slips to round two?

2:51
Really hard to answer that on June 5th, much less May 1st. As a guess, I'll say Conner Jones.

As of today, what do you think the odds are that Hunter Harvey is on the board when the Giants pick?

2:58 Right now? 75 percent.

Can you give us your thoughts on Kyle Serrano? I really like this kids stuff.

3:20 Really intriguing. Mechanically a little weird, but plus fastball and a ridiculous slurve. He'll go very early come June, assuming he doesn't wanna play for his dad at UT
19. From Christopher crawfords draft chat:

Who ends up at third? Moran, Bryant or neither?

2:52
Both not an option? I think both guys have a shot. The most likely scenario is Bryant's in RF and Moran is at third.

20. This isn't about Mr.Windle but his team mate from Jim Callis' weekly chat: Any reports in DJ Snelton and where he could be drafted? Jim Callis: I think Snelton, a Minnesota LHP, he’ll go in the 5th-10th round range. He strained his elbow and got a late start to the season, but he’s a 6-foot-7 lefty who gets good extension in his delivery. He can touch 95 mph, throws a decent slider and changeup. Scouts don’t love his arm action. In Keith Law's last draft board update he had Snelton in the other prospects to know section.
 21. From Jim Callis' weekly chat on Gray: We know that Appel will be ready almost immediately for the big leagues. How quickly will Gray be ready for the majors? Jim Callis: Gray won’t need much time either. But if they do go 1-2, the Astros and Cubs aren’t going to be good next year, don’t really see much reason to get them to the big leagues in 2014. Why were the Royals unable to sign Jonathan Gray out of high school? Jim Callis: Not sure what he wanted to sign, but he was basically a raw HS arm at that point. We rated him the top HS arm in Oklahoma, as he could hit 93 mph and had some power to his slider, but he wasn’t really ready for pro ball (or at least a major investment). He lacks consistency and command, needed to get in better shape. Had a scout tell me the story kind of reminded him of Stephen Strasburg’s path.
 22. Tons on Kohl Stewart from Jim Callis' weekly chat: What are the chances Kohl Stewart signs if drafted? What sort of prospect ceiling would he have? Jim Callis: I think he’ll go so high that it will be an easy choice to sign. And while he may want to play QB at Texas A&M, it’s no lock that reigning Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel leaves in a year. So Stewart might not get to start at QB for the Aggies until 2015. He has a huge ceiling–potential No. 1 starter. I’d take him as the third pitcher in the draft, behind Appel and Gray. Can you compare Kohl Stewart's current and potential to any HS pitchers from past few drafts? Jim Callis: Talked to a scout who said he may be better than fellow Texan Jameson Taillon, who threw harder but couldn’t match the depth of Stewart’s repertoire. The same scout said on the Texas spectrum, he’d put Stewart behind Josh Beckett and ahead of Shelby Miller. Can you see the Astros going with local, high-upside Kohl Stewart 1-1, saving some money as they did with Correa? Jim Callis: Let’s shift to lighting-round mode … Don’t see that happening, and no HS RHP ever has gone No. 1 overall.
 23. From Jim Callis' weekly chat: How high will Colin Moran go in the draft? Jim Callis: I think somewhere from the No. 6 and No. 10 overall picks.
 24. A) Awesome adopt a player thread. You have a ton of good info here. Definitely went above and beyond. In Jim Callis' weekly chat he answered this question about Mr.Meyers; What kind of timeline is Alex Meyer on to the majors? Also, has Trevor May looked more like he could be a good starter in the bigs, or do you envision reliever? Jim Callis: Meyer: Arbitration considerations may delay him, but could see him up after the break. May is a reliever for me–don’t trust the control or command.
 25. From Jim Callis' weekly prospect chat on Buxton: Thoughts on Byron Buxton thus far in the MWL? Has he exceeded expectations in the first month? Jim Callis: Tremendous. Though he was the best player in last year’s draft but would need some time to adjust. I was wrong about the second part of that statement. Please rank: Best outfielder in 2018: Buxton, Myers, Taveras, or Puig? Jim Callis: Buxton, Taveras, Myers, Puig. All four could be studs.
