  1. Careful friend; there are laws against posting under the influence.
  2. Amazing how medicinal one swing of the bat can be - dropped my blood pressure 20 points.
  3. Arcia? Hicks is on the bench today - some minor ailment.
  4. 76 pitches through 4 - this is not what Gardy wanted tonight.
  5. With Gooden I don't think that powder was rosin, was it...?
  6. Good job for Arcia, throwing to the correct base - if only he had done that earlier in the inning.
  7. At least this is included in the price of the ticket - no extra charge necessary.
  8. And there goes the shutout. **sigh**
  9. One batter in, and Worley is looking sharp.
  10. Thanks for the info. I am still glad we unloaded him last year.
  11. Actually, that's not the argument I am making. I'm saying the job of the GM is to anticipate and predict future performance. Obviously, some times those predictions will be more accurate than others. In making that assessment, statistical analysis of previous years will only be one piece, and sometimes a piece of lesser importance, in a much larger picture - it is one piece of data among several, and in the end it does require intuition and guesswork. That's what GMs are paid to do.
  12. Isn't that exactly what a GM's job is? To try to figure out who's going to produce and help the team in the future? Contracts are not offered based on past results. Contracts are offered based on anticipated future results. At the end of the year, you know whether the GM did his/her job well or not.
  13. Heck, at this point I'll settle for him keeping it from going to the backstop.
  14. So is this a comedy or a tragedy - or both?
  15. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is one of the uglier "quality starts" you'll see in baseball.
  16. OK, this is the inning he usually begins to unravel - c'mon, Pelf, hold it together!
  17. I can't say he's pitched well, but neither has he been in trouble much. It's ugly, but effective. That said, when he melts down, he melts down quickly. We need these insurance runs.
  18. I would be ecstatic if he make it through six, and we were still ahead.
  19. I like the way this game is unfolding, but I'm still leary of Pelfrey.
