  1. I see where gunnathor is coming from and his initial comment is, I think, quite valid. If we're going to be critiquing the manager on every nuance of post-game comments, it will be a standard that is impossible to satisfy. Personally, I'd rather he err on the side of being too positive than being too negative, but that's just me. And talking about human sacrifice, even in jest, detracts from the quality of this thread, it doesn't add to it.
  2. Is this a metaphor on what it means to be a Twins fan?
  3. Man, this bites. I can't get the feed - some idiot in the head office thinks Idaho is in the Seattle Mariners local coverage area (it isn't.
  4. Just got back in, checked the score...let me guess...Pelfrey melted down in the 6th again?
  5. With respect, these are both opinions, not facts.
  6. I think what needs to be done is have this analysis taken farther, taking into account game situation, perhaps using WPA as was discussed in an earlier article. If I remember correctly, the Brewers had just put 3 runs on the board, cut the lead to 6-3, and made it an interesting game. In that case, perhaps the risk/reward equation shifts, making it more acceptable to run than when the game is not close. Just a thought.
  7. Yeah, this thread is like the Twins tonight - starts off hot and is petering off to the end.
  8. Yeah, I remember last year they did a story on that. That's why he draws her initials in the mound before a start. Kinda puts it all into perspective.
  9. Sorry, man! There's no excuse for that behavior. Glad you and your daughter found a place to enjoy the game away from the jerks!
  10. Concur, but he did load the bases to set it up. Still, I'll take this from a Twins starter anytime.
  11. That's what I call limping in to a "quality start." Only bad inning he's had tonight, though (although the 1st could have been ugly but for a timely DP).
  12. Be kind. When you get to their age, the past sometimes gets a little mixed up.
  13. No, I didn't predict it - I just asked what the odds were. OK, I accept full responsibility. Thrash me with a wet noodle.
  14. So, the way he's pitching, odds on Walters going all nine tonight?
  15. OK, is anybody else worried about a slump in concentration on the part of the Twins now they have a 5-run lead?
  16. Let's see if everybody in the lineup can hit a solo shot tonight. We're already a third of the way there.
  17. Mauer (on seeing Dozier's home run the previous at-bat): Wow, that looks like fun. I think I'll try that.
  18. What is up with Walters today? 4 scoreless innings, 47 pitches.
  19. Do we have any nominations for "Fool in the Rain"?
  20. As long as we're touching on Led Zeppelin in this thread, let's try matching up Led Zep songs with Twins, past and present. I'll start: Whole Lotta Love - Joe Mauer Good Times Bad Times - Justin Morneau Babe I'm Gonna Leave You - Delmon Young Communication Breakdown - Ron Gardenhire Ramble On - Ben Revere Ten Years Gone - Kent Hrbek In the Evening - Jamie Carroll Dazed and Confused - the entire rotation Nobody's Fault But Mine - Terry Ryan/Bill Smith
