  1. Looked like it - got the tag on the right shoulder/arm just before he reached. Edit: Just saw another angle. He was safe. But I'll take it.
  2. Florimon! Ramirez! Yes! Watching that play makes up for having to sit through the previous three innings.
  3. Yep. Classic 1-1 pitchers duel.
  4. Is it possible to give both teams an L? Neither has earned a W.
  5. Thanks. Always wondered about that.
  6. So just why exactly is that rule in the book anyway - dropped 3rd strikes?
  7. Couldn't resist posting this - Twins need every help they can get.
  8. OK, I'm not a "Super Moderator" but even I know this is called "trolling.":o
  9. I know what you mean. Normally when a pitcher only gives up 2 hits through 5 it's a good sign. Usually.
  10. Yeah, I wasn't trying to be critical - just felt the need to post something uplifting. We've got our share of fire problems in Idaho too. Then Friday we had a flash flood. Figures.
  11. Jeez. Watching Pelfrey pitch makes me nostalgic for the good old days when dentistry was done with anesthesia.
  12. Is his wrist acting up again? He had been out a few games until he played last night.
  13. I had a golf partner who used to always go "Oh fiddlesticks!" when she hit a shot wrong. I used to tell her "It's OK. You can say 'fudge' if you want."
  14. Wow, this thread is full of doom and gloom today. Maybe this will help: I just love mountain pictures.
  15. Is this an example of Cleveland playing down to the level of their opposition?
  16. Bernier! Edit: conference on the mound after - "What just happened there?"
  17. The trick is to be insane before you go - then it won't matter. I think I'll see it tomorrow.
  18. Probably because hitters in Triple-A are not as good as hitters in MLB. He can get away with mistakes and borderline pitches easier there. We've seen this before. My guess is that the scouting report on him by other teams is: "He makes mistakes. Be patient and you'll get your pitch to hit." He also seemed to lose confidence yesterday. The first couple of innings he had a lot of first pitch strikes and was usually ahead in the count. After he gave up those 2 homers, he began throwing mostly first-pitch balls and was pitching behind. That said, I also would like to see him start the rest of the year. Then we can decide in the off-season.
  19. Hopefully he'll stick up this year to the end of the season and give us some "guidance" on his future value. As far as last year, I'm guessing that part of the "short leash" came from them not thinking he was ready in the first place. IIRC he started with the big club only because Marquis got sidelined with a family emergency just as ST ended. Just a guess.
  20. In your opinion, how long a stretch do we need? Is from now to the end of the year sufficient? He did start regularly from mid-late August last year to the end of the season.
  21. I also think the trade was a mistake, but I have always thought Capps has gotten a bit of a bum rap from Twins fans, probably in part due to ire over the trade. And I disagree he was awful in 2012 - his numbers show significant improvement over 2011 (although certainly not to the 2010 level, which seems to have been his career year). If he hadn't gotten injured he might have continued to improve and perhaps be the pitcher we thought he was.
  22. That was just heartbreaking for the Red Wings last night - losing a 5-run lead in the 9th. A solid start from Diamond wasted, at a time when they can't afford to throw away games like that.
  23. As announced earlier this week, Liam Hendriks has been recalled from Rochester for Saturday's start in Cleveland. To make room Michael Tonkin was optioned back to Rochester - also no surprise. I find myself eager to see what Hendriks can do. He started the year on the big club's roster and, after a couple of lackluster efforts, immediately found himself back in Triple-A. He seemed sporadic there as well, before being called up earlier this month for a spot start against Chicago, in which he pitched a gem. Since then he's had 2 more good starts for Rochester. Here's hoping that Hendriks has finally turned the corner and is about to become the starter we hoped he someday might be. Not an ace, to be sure, but somebody who can take the ball and give the club a decent chance to win.
  24. That's actually my official title.
