  1. Chicago Lineup De Aza, CF Ramirez, SS Viciedo, LF Konerko, 1B Dunn, DH Semien, 3B Danks, RF Phegley, C Garcia, 2B Danks, SP That Danks is going to be a busy guy - starting pitcher and he has to hustle out to RF when the ball is hit.
  2. I made the case a couple of months ago, in a pitch-framing thread, that maybe it was time for automated ball and strike calls. That not only eliminates the whole pitch-framing debate but this article shows it may be necessary just in general as well. I expect MLB to move on this on an accelerated timetable, and have it in place for the 2023 season.
  3. I saw him play in New Britain last year. Hit a huge bomb over the fence. And the next inning tripped over his feet and fell on a routine fly ball.
  4. I know what you mean.
  5. So, let's get a head start on this, because it might take a while. Is there anything positive we can take out of days like today?
  6. For days like this...
  7. Is it over? Can I open my eyes yet?
  8. Hmmm. I'm starting to think your appreciation for Dozier goes beyond a typical fan's appreciation for the skilled gifts of a professional athlete.
  9. No Comcast where I live. And my landlord won't allow a satellite dish.
  10. I'm not a big fan of it myself. Unfortunately it's the only way I have to get any broadcast of the Twins at all.
  11. BTW, I'm not blinking anymore. I've got my eyes firmly screwed shut in pain.
  12. Wow. I blinked and missed the first two innings.
  13. It scares me just a little that you knew the answer to that so quickly.
  14. Good first inning for Diamond.
  15. You know, I am currently on 2 different medications for blood pressure. I just assumed it was because of genetic issues and my being slightly overweight. Maybe I was wrong. I did have a parishioner in Illinois who was forbidden by his doctor to watch University of Illinois football games because he feared it would cause a stroke in this person - he was just too caught up in it, and was like 80-something.
  16. Yes, but that's a pretty expensive beer.
  17. Good post and I had to think about it. I would hope to keep the light-hearted atmostphere, but I agree that discussion of things that happen during the game should have a place, and that does happen sometimes, but it can also get lost. There should be a way to have a serious discussion about strategy during a particular game - should the runner have gone or not, when to pull the starter, the value of a pinch hitter and bench usage issues, a particular call by an umpire, etc. And those discussions can and sometimes should be critical of a decision that was made in an individual game. I do hope that game threads don't just become another vehicle for general grumbling about the franchise. Perhaps some way to encourage discussion about a particular game itself, both positive and negative, while also having a "gentleman's agreement" that this is not the place to touch upon such issues as front office staff, ownership, payroll, draft strategy, FA signings, etc.
  18. This is EXACTLY why I love baseball. If I was a football fan and my team got manhandled (or perhaps I should say person-handled, in the interest of inclusivity) like that, I'd have to stew about it a whole week.
  19. For me they have become the most enjoyable part of the site - a place to go and hang with Twins fans without descending into the contentiousness that seems to pop up elsewhere.
  20. F-14 Tomcat! They just don't make them like this anymore.
  21. Fair question, but I do think the medical staff has been more consistent this year, at least at the major league level. We haven't lost nearly the number of games we did last year, and they have been more aggressive in putting players on the DL so as to not waste a roster spot. I have seen very little complaint about the medical staff on these forums this year.
  22. That's a very interesting question. Who is anyone? Are we just biomechanical organisms, or is there something inside us that transcends the sum of our parts?
  23. Darn! That's going to hurt our draft chances for next year!
  24. Are we 100% sure of that?
