  1. Mike Berardino ‏@MikeBerardino 2m Just the 2nd homer off Gibson this year. Miguel Cabrera had the other on 5/10 at DET. Seems like more, doesn't it?
  2. Did he do Pebble Beach with Hicks?
  3. We are in the mid-high 80's for the next 10 days assuming the forecast is somewhat correct. You've got to get it sometime.
  4. Imagination is worse than reality.
  5. Based on the people jumping around, I'd say FAIR.
  6. Mustard, no egg, celery, pimento, no relish, Miracle Whip and some herbs, vinegar and sugar, salt and pepper. My cousins are moving one of my aunts from a house to a duplex tomorrow. We were supposed to pick her up about noon - thought we'd just take her out. But now one of her grandchildren is bringing her over at 9:30 a.m. so I invited one of her friends for lunch. And frankly, it was 85 degrees here today so it'll be potato salad, fruit salad and barbecue chicken sandwiches cuz I'm not up to anything in the oven regardless of A/C.
  7. I walked in just as Dozier was getting caught between 2nd and 3rd. Ugh. But then that's what I get for making potato salad at 9:00 at night.
  8. Well, supposedly this type of surgery has a high rate of success. The bigger concern would be whether this is just a sign of more health problems to come.

    Ish

As far as I'm concerned, this sale was beyond Ish ... it was ICK.
  10. I'm also undecided on whether a return to AAA will be helpful to Hicks. On the offensive side, maybe he would be better off just staying in the majors and having to face MLB pitching rather than going to AAA, learning how to hit AAA pitching; then coming back to MLB and still having to adjust to major league pitchers. I just don't know. But on the defensive side, I remember a Hicks comment from a week or two ago about the backgrounds being so different when he is in CF because of the size and height of major league stadiums. Does he really get to work on that if he is returned to AAA?
  11. There have been several good articles written about Collabello but none have made me appreciate his journey as much as the latest one on mlb.com: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/min/twins-chris-colabello-has-a-story-to-tell?ymd=20140522&content_id=76376150&vkey=news_min Can't help but keep rooting for him.
  12. Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi 25m Announced: Rangers expect Prince Fielder to undergo surgery Tuesday and miss remainder of season. And in more Rangers news ... Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale 21m Jurickson Profar has Grade 2 strain of arm, Daniels says, which likely would end his season as well for #Rangers.. BUT Jeff Wilson ‏@JeffWilson_FWST 21m Jon Daniels says 8 to 12 more weeks on Jurickson Profar. So maybe not the rest of the season .... depending on how it goes.
  13. And on shifting fortunes .... It sounds like what is bad for Moustakas may be good for Danny Valencia.
  14. Jeff Wilson at The Fort Worth Star-Telegram is reporting that the Texas Rangers first baseman is seriously considering a neck surgery that would end his season. Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports adds that Fielder is having more MRIs on Thursday. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/report--prince-fielder--seriously-considering--season-ending-neck-surgery-192904258.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter Dave Dombrowski had great timing on this Prince.
  15. I think someone did write or say that. Gardenhire basically said it at the end of the season. Interestingly, I think it is Suzuki that is establishing a veteran presence the exemplifies the (old) Twins way. Didn't necessarily have to be a re-tread.
  16. I was going to comment in the Hicks thread about what happens when Buxton comes up and struggles (as he invariably will at some point) -- and what will the comments be. Always good to keep in mind that fortunes and futures can sometimes change very quickly.
  17. Forgot that one! Should be in trade mode while they are on the West Coast. Of course, the Twins would probably just get Sweet Drew back.
  18. I know we're trending a little off topic here but does anyone else feel like we just haven't gotten to know much, if anything, about Nolasco? I just looked at his stats and saw that he has pitched 55.1 innings through Sunday (game 42) -- about on track with where he would be expected to be at this point in the season based on his history. His performance is not as good as the Twins might have hoped but not a complete disaster either. But about the only thing I feel like I've learned about him is that he hates the cold and is, I think, into some kind of extreme fighting or maybe it is boxing - just something I remembers seeing on Twitter. He just feels like a bit of a non-entity to me at this point. There haven't been many (if any) main stream media stories about him. And not much on TD either. In general I feel some emotional investment in the way most of the players on this team do -- even Mike Pelfrey. But I just haven't found/heard anything that gives me a clue about Nolasco.
  19. I remember that, Brock. I'm just teasing you a bit. Thus far, Hughes is looking like the steal of the offseason. The trick, I think, is to keep him from overthinking and overtinkering.
  20. At least Hughes has a fastball that's actually, you know, FAST.
  21. I thought he called for 3 cutters in a row sometime last night. (Now I can't remember where I read that). But actually, it was Gardenhire's comments about Suzuki keeping Hughes calm that were the most striking.
  22. Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeymanCBS 7m dodgers announce they've released miguel olivo, who has unusual dietary tastes. i suggest realty tv.
  23. Apparently Phil Hughes likes throwing to him: http://blogs.twincities.com/twins/2014/05/22/postgame-twinsights-kurt-suzukis-role-in-this-phil-hughes-roll/ I don't think it is imperative that the Twins do anything with him right now. Unfortunately with the way he is playing, I think he is going to want to start and that impacts the whole Josmil Pinto question if Pinto really is the catcher of the future. There are about 6 weeks or so to see how Pinto develops (if he gets additional PT) before making any decision on Suzuki. If the Twins are anywhere near smelling a playoff spot at the trade deadline, they won't deal him. If they want to bring him back for next year, they can afford to pay him -- but if Suzuki keeps playing the way he is, the question won't necessarily be money but his role on the team.
