  1. The best thing is listening to Bremer, Kelly and Ryan .... and you know when I say that about TV commentating, the game must be pretty bad.
  2. So I take it from miscellaneous twitter responses that there must be people complaining about the TC Bear statue??? My only complaint would be that any Minnesota Bear should have a can of Hamm's in his hand.
  3. I guess there is something to be said for giving up SOLO home runs.
  4. LOL, no. But since I have no construction-related skills, I really appreciate the people who volunteer for those types of projects.
  5. Oh, and thanks for your volunteer efforts, Chief!!!!
  6. I think a pretty clear directive came down from the Pohlads in the off-season that management had gotten a little too conservative. Not that I ever expect Ryan to be a free spender but I think he did have to adjust to the fact that the budget constraints aren't identical to those in the days of the Dome.
  7. Ryan did the stand up thing: Phil Miller ‏@MillerStrib 16m Ryan said telling Kubel he's being released was hard -- "He's made a lot of big contributions here." He & Kubel go back more than a decade.
  8. Rhett Bollinger ‏@RhettBollinger 7m Kendrys Morales will be in uniform and on the bench today. He's out of Minor League options so they can't send him down.
  9. Another thought of what might have been .... what could he have done but not for the knee injury early in his career? Maybe it wouldn't have made any difference but its something to think about when we talk about Singleton-like contracts. All the best to you, Jason Kubel. Thanks for a lot of good memories (including this big one in 2010: http://m.mlb.com/video/v8059633/minnyy-kubel-blasts-a-grand-slam-in-the-eighth Edit: Oops, missed that Seth had already posted the video link. Great memory!!
  10. Yeah, forget that every 5th day thing ... unless you have some control over the schedule makers.
  11. I know where they were coming from PP but for me, that 2010 series was one of, if not THE, most disheartening thing I'd seen in 50 years of watching the Twins. While even I did not predict the abysmal depths to which they have sunk the last 3 years, it was just apparent that it wasn't going to work. The pitching wasn't there and more importantly, the leadership wasn't there and I couldn't see that changing for 2011. But you're right, the bandwagon for significant change was pretty small at that point and I'm glad we have some hope going forward even though I'd still like to see some changes in management's old guard.
  12. I like your plan, Paul Pleis. I do think Willingham is going to need some relief in LF so that gives Fuld some playing time. And I think Nunez has enough versatility that he can get some time at a variety of positions.
  13. Food for thought from Christina Kahrl: Which brings us to why signing with the Twins might especially make sense for Morales, without knowing about how much money was in play. Say the Twins fall entirely out of the race -- if that happens, they’re an obvious seller at the deadline, and Morales could look forward to being dealt to a team in a stronger position in the standings. Rather than pick a contender and hope for the best, signing with the longshot team provides him with a chance there, and potentially a chance to be dealt to an even better opportunity to return to the postseason in two months. http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/48207/will-kendrys-morales-power-twins-bid
  14. So glad about the 1/2 of the prediction you almost got right (he tied for career high in strikeouts, I think). So glad the other half didn't happen.
  15. And Congrats to Kyle Gibson: Mike Berardino ‏@MikeBerardino 22m Kyle Gibson slices home ERA to 1.5365. Moves past Kazmir (1.69), Scherzer (1.5428) for lowest home ERA in AL. Max starts tonite vs. BOS. Now to figure out those other stadiums!
  16. What a way to end it. Amazing game. Remember it forever, Danny Santana.
  17. That's the other thing holding up an "official" announcement, apparently. They have to clear a space on the 40 man and aren't going to do that mid-game. Also, they have a policy of waiting until the physical is complete.
  18. LaVelle E. Neal III ‏@LaVelleNeal 30s Guessing Morales has to go to minors for awhile to get game ready.Twins source told me: ``I knew you would be stunned.'' No bleeping kidding Stunned? Pretty much everyone, I would guess.
  19. You might need to go demonstrate FUN for him.
  20. Can't believe it's only the bottom of the 5th.
  21. I don't think they see it that way. The Tigers are looking pretty vulnerable. My guess is that the Twins powers-that-be are seeing a situation like 2009. Not necessarily the way I see it but the Twins do have some experience with somewhat wacky seasons.
  22. I think there is more economic pressure to keep b*tts in the seats than may have been apparent earlier. The ASG "bump" such as it was will be gone. While I'd prefer to see prospects, I think there is probably pressure from the top to keep it interesting as long as possible.
  23. Apparently there is some plan to get Hicks time in RF: –Aaron Hicks could start taking more fly balls in right field in order to get him and rookie center fielder Danny Santana in the lineup at the same time, Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. With Oswaldo Arcia ailing (sprained right ankle), Jason Kubel got the start in right over Chris Parmelee. It was just the second start in right for Kubel since the season’s first week. http://blogs.twincities.com/twins/
