  1. That's not going to happen. We all know this. Drew will get too many at bats, just as Clete Thomas did early. What a weak bench. Burroughs/Drew/Clete ? Yuck
  2. Relying on an injury prone RH and a wildly consistent LHP as being lynchpins to a better season, along with 3 guys with high WHIP numbers, did not give me any hope of being better. I expected Baker to get injured. Just not this early. Liriano is grossly overpaid for what he brings. With out some deals and any significant moves, it's a tough next year, too.
  3. Mauer took one off his knee Sunday, so he could have been available to PH. So he did get dinged. Am sure the Twins would rather have had him out there at first instead of Parmelee, and in the 3 spot.
  4. Worst record in baseball. This team won't see .500 this year with this staff. And they're supposed to be better than 2011?
  5. Salcedo left after 1/3 inning tonight. faced 2 batters.
  6. Slama must do something that turns the Twins management off. Had one brief opp,was not great and then poof, off the 40-man roster. He'll only get back on if they dump someone else. I see Guerra getting a shot in the 2nd half of the season. Manship will have to be throwing harder than in ST to get a callup.
  7. I so hope Hermsen continues what he's started this year. Rotation hopes need bolstering, for sure. Thanks for the other info Seth!
  8. Seth, are some of these promotions due to other injuries as well? The rosters don't always get updated very quickly when checking the active rosters.
  9. Guerra was promoted to AAA. 3 shut out innings on Saturday in his 2012 AAA debut.
  10. Dozier got back into the hit column with a couple knocks today in Roch's 4-3 loss,a nd his 9th rbi. 4th error. Average currently at .275
  11. Thanks, Mike. I don't see the need for it. Simply because, what good does it do? Only minute possibility is that Inge plays, improves his value, gets traded, nets a prospect. That's a stretch. As for signing legit FAs, I'll be impressed when they do. Willingham was a big undertaking that way. Seem to shy away from the REAL splashy FA signings, and I don't thing that will change.
  12. Given the recent washouts of Bashore, Tootle and Hunt, due in part to injury, I'd be very leery of a college pitcher. A shame that some of these guys get over-worked in college. One reason a number of kids by-pass it for a shot in the bigs on draft day.
  13. 1-4 night with a run scored, after a rain out, in a Roch loss for Brian. Roch Democrat/Chronicle guy Jim Mandelaro cited Brian for a stellar defensive night. http://blogs.democratandchronicle.com/extrabases/
  14. gnat-ball. Bucholz should have fun.
  15. Agreed.Clete gets too many at bats for this team. Already.
  16. That was all messed up on their GameDay. French never got out of the 7th. Turpen relieved, wound up with the loss.
  17. I see De Los Santos is manning LF today. Branching out. 8 innings for French on 106 pitches.
  18. Exactly. Where have the moves been made to DRAFT power pitchers? Where have the moves been made to make a trade or 2? Instead they've thrown their focus far too often on trying to fix the bullpen. And we're still at a point where pitching depth, starters and bullpen, are thin at the top2 levels in the organization.
  19. So all those years of hitting .246 to .277 have all-of-a-sudden made Willingham a better hitter? He's started great. Will you have the same feelings about him once they continue to pitch around him to get Morneau out, and see Hammer's average drop? Point is, we don't know the insides of the clubhouse and what is said/done. So to actually jump in bash a guy based on 'attitude/maturity' and 'discipline' without all the details is assuming a lot. Valencia may be pressing too. Others on this team are as well.
  20. Good Start. WP scored DeLos Santos (double) and Colabello double scored Herrmann, only 1 out in the first.
  21. Luke Hughes is in Oakland, with 3 errors at 3rd in his first 2 games, making him more un-coachable for the Twins than Valencia allegedly is. And no, Diamond could not do any worse than Liriano or Blackburn. Or basically any other starter they've thrown out there.
  22. And he'll probably wind up playing at least decently(notice I didn't say GREAT) for some other team. That's my perception. Twins can't get guys to play the game their way, cast them off, and they play decently elsewhere. Garza Bartlett Ortiz Hardy Young
  23. As Gleeman noted since the last 10 flops of 2010 season, when the Twins "coasted" into the playoffs, they have won just over 36% of their games. A complete shakeup of this team is required from the top down.
  24. Clete Thomas' signing is only a good move, if he's played less. 13 strikeouts in 22 at bats?
  25. They need to be willing to make moves. 5-13 is nothing to hang your hat on. All possibilities need to be explored, given the "depth" of starting pitching in the system.
