  1. I'd advocate having moved Sano up for part of the FM season, but again, that's too aggressive. Besides, he really didn't need to play on a team that stunk it up for a 2nd straight year under Jake Mauer, with some guys who stagnated in Hi-A.
  2. We'll never know on the Twins' guys, unfortunately. Can't find out what kids have until you play them. KC? They develop top flight talent about as well as the Twins, which is why they're neighbors in the lower levels of the division. mlhouse makes some very good points. Twins, like anyone else, make good/bad decisions on moving players/assessing players. They seem overly cautious, and for what? Let a guy fizzle out/get stagnant in AA/AAA, vs an opp in the bigs where hope springs eternal.
  3. They'll likely both be Top 100 prospects, go to spring training, get sent down to the minors early in camp, go to Rochester, play there 2-3 months and HOPEFULLY show that they're ready. Hope. Hope. Hope. That should be the Twins Motto. The Twins HOPE that things work out. If not, by golly, let's see what we can blame it on. Injuries to __________(choose an area) Guys without enough experience Guys they HOPE would work out that didn't. Bleh. They HOPE a lot of things come together each year. Why not have some sure things. Oh, that's right, the old regime traded a number of those away. Why? Conflicts in personalities, needs in other areas, etc, etc. Traded too much away. Suffer now and get the kids ready. This team needs to clear a lot of driftwood away.
  4. Agree completely. I don't mind Matt Carson, but is he really needed, beside to keep Rochester market happy? No need to rush him. Eh, I'll disagree. Why so cautious? Find out what a guy can do this fall, rather than start the year with "he'll be in the minors because he has no experience". Sano/Kepler/Rosario will probably still be in the minors in 4 years if they stay with the overly cautious plan. It's ok to have a few guys younger than 25 play every day in the bigs. It's been done a time or two. And yes, I know those 3 will be younger than 25 in 4 years. It's a sarcastic remark for an organization that needs new blood in the higher levels sooner rather than later.
  5. I saw that the Boston paper again speculated the Sox should go after Mauer this off season. He'd put up some pretty nice numbers banging the ball off the Green Monster.
  6. Arcia is already on the 40 man.
  7. Willingham played his last game on September 24th. Arcia hadn't played baseball for three weeks at that point and may have been at home when it happened. There was no reason to call him back for ~10 days of baseball. Right. However, I really believe that both of them should have gotten some action in, as soon as AA was over. Given the alleged "surplus" the Twins have, need to know what players they can trade off sooner rather than later.
  8. Also one more reason Arcia/Hicks should have played in MN in September. Especially after Willingham got dinged. Of course, the manager would still have preferred a month of his "starters" vs contenders instead. Had to have that big push to avoid 100 losses.
  9. A new face/new ideas in this position, please.
  10. Or Gardy's perceived scuffling. Have to play near perfect D at 2nd to gain favor with the manager. (eyes rolling)
  11. Plouffe is not an option at 2nd. Gardy about had a heart attack watching him scuffle in the field there 2 years ago.
  12. Thielbar finished the shutout with a scoreless 9th.
  13. Tonkin 1 shut out inning Darnell 2 shut out innings thus far. And now Roberts 2-3 with a RBI single in the 8th.
  14. Roberts 1-2/R/BB/SB thus far in the game.
  15. They were speculating on the radio that Jake Mauer might get it. Jeff Smith deserves it more than Jake.
  16. New staff on board for org meetings so they can move forward immediately on plans, I would think.
  17. it seems an odd place to start to me. It would appear the changes are coming as each is meeting with Mr. Ryan, so Stelly was first to meet.
  18. Another MI Brock? Don't ya know, Flori/Pesky Esky and Carroll are LOCKS for 2012 with their ability to pick it. No need for another guy .
  19. I would not be surprised to see Capps get a 1- year offer from the Twins AGAIN. Keep pouring money down that drain until they prove he was a good acquisition.
  20. Last year was injuries. This year was something else. What will it take? good grief, a manager's insistence on slap hitting players that litter this lineup, to go with the throw it over for a strike(aka pitch to impact) mentality, will continue to produce losing records. This org HOPES to do well based on HOPING guys comeback, HOPING scrap heap pickups produce. It needs a full cleaning. Sell it to someone who cares about winning. Clean out the front office and coaching staff. Change the mentality.
  21. Please, please release him. One less option that this team needs to consider.
  22. Exactly. They're not swimming in decent pitchers and are not likely to gather in much more than guys found in the bargain bin. That's been their pattern in the past, and unless radically changed, won't be any different this year.
  23. Required reading for ownership. Changes need to be made.
  24. I am really happy with the accelerated signing date. No doubt, without it, Buxton would have likely only been in the GCL. Got some Eliz experience. As for the OF, there really isn't a reason Lin/Leachman should stay in Lo-A. JD Williams shouldn't either. He'll be 22. Time to advance a level and try to get better. Roberts will be in FM, for at least part of the season. Rosario should be getting more reps at 2nd, less in the OF.
  25. Morales continued to struggle this year. His time is about up as well.
