  1. If this game was at the Cell, it would be about 6-0.
  2. Here's my rather detailed prediction. Hughes and Felix are both effective, with each team only scoring a run in the first seven innings. Felix leaves and the Twins score big off the bullpen and win comfortably 9-2.
  3. Still a lot of base runners on in his last start. Also, while the sinker is pretty effective in getting ground balls, he doesn't put anybody away with it. He's a 30-something still trying to find secondary pitches. I would say the odds are pretty long that he will succeed. That said, I wasn't totally opposed to Pelf signing the two-year deal and thought he might have a decent year last year. He's got the velocity and he really works hard. Maybe, just maybe, he will figure it out was a breaking ball and the splitter. I wish him well and certainly would like to see him get another few starts.
  4. After watching both a lot in spring training, I still like Rosario more than Hicks. I would bring him up to play center instead of Schafer and if Hicks forces his way back to the majors, either Arcia or Rosario comes to Rochester with the other guy playing left field.
  5. Here's a glass half-full thought: Not one starter is hitting up to his career batting average or OPS. That cannot last. Nothing makes a team look like it is going through the motions more than them not hitting. Milone versus Vargas tomorrow.
  6. Another disappointing day at the ball yard.
  7. Is that Plouffe's first bunt hit ever?
  8. Oh my goodness. What is Arcia's problem?
  9. Bert says that Gibson doesn't have his best stuff. Smart man.
  10. Much better inning for Gibson. He seems to be surviving without his best stuff.
  11. One of those infrequent strikeout thingies would be good here. Edit: Or not.
  12. Not exactly the big inning I was hoping for.
  13. Not a coincidence that the Twins have scored runs the last three times they got a leadoff walk. Now make 'em pay for the mistake!
  14. Escobar DH? Ugh. Also, get Dozier out of the cleanup spot. Can't stand to see that.
  15. Dozier is a good lead-off guy. He works counts and draws walks and there is nothing wrong with a lead-off homer. Today, I'd make the lineup: Dozier, Hunter, Mauer, Vargas, Plouffe, Arcia, Suzuki, Schafer/Robinson, Santana.
  16. Trevor Plouffe is a major league regular. He will make enough money to be comfortable for the rest of his life and probably will never play in the minor leagues again. Schafer and Robinson are not guaranteed to be in the major leagues for the remainder of this season or any time after that. Quite a difference IMHO. No, Trevor won't stand in the way of Sano for long, but he could well be a starter in the majors for another five or more years.
