  2. I've seen stranger things, I suppose.
  3. I think Parker Hageman has been known to use that.
  4. It could have been, but this place isn't.
  5. This is an unfounded opinion, and basically mind-reading, but I continue to believe that Sano is averse to getting in front of sharp ground balls. He kind of hesitated on his first step, on that one just now, then when it was clear he couldn't get in front of it, he lunged. He's fine coming in on slow rollers, goes well to his left or right much of the time, and is getting better at popups, but he just seems to not want to get in front of the ball. He couldn't have gotten in front of that one really, but that little hesitation bugged me.
  6. Next time plz b more specific, kthxbye. / ninja'd by puckett34
  7. I'm pretty sure nobody wants to know more specifically than that.
  8. Careful. They say if you repeat his name three times at midnight, Sam-well shows up on your roster again.
  9. They should only use him in the innings dedicated to lefty hitters.
  10. He's no Sidd Finch but he's the best we got.
  11. There being no reliever warmed up and available in the bullpen, Lynn was in the unenviable situation of having to relieve himself on the mound. / first such post of the season - can't guarantee it won't be the last
  12. We were thaaaaaat close to an inside-the-park job by Buxton there.
  13. True story. I have both Michigan and Villanova in my pool. Trouble is, the pool I'm in doesn't do full brackets: you pick some teams you think will win, and you pick some teams you think will make an early exit. Michigan is in my latter group, and the point system is multiplied by the seed number, so I desperately need 'Nova to win. Fortunately I also had Loyola in my winner's group, so I collected boo-coo points off of their 11th seeding during their run, and I did well with Arizona/Xavier/Auburn bowing out, but Michigan is now primed to cancel that good fortune with boo-coo negative points due to extra multipliers for reaching and then winning the final game. I did the same thing with Florida in 2006 - I should vow never to pick a 3-seed again. Anyway, I'm one of the few with both teams as picks in this game. True story. Gee whiz. I am completely aware and I've only known you for, what, five?
  14. I had never heard of him before. Thanks for the best YouTube search I've done in the past fifteen minutes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lft_N1Rv8eA
  15. I haven't seen much of Franco and what I've seen has seemed self-indulgent, but this was the role he was born to play. It was the movie I went to see the last time Mrs Ash went out of town, because I knew she would detest it. She'll be away on business again soon - I need to scan the Coming Attractions list.
  16. Did that vary depending on the handedness of the batter? I watched but didn't pay attention, apparently. My wife has made similar observations about me and what she tells me, FWIW.
  17. The ball had very nice movement. A lot of walks but pinpoint command has never really been his calling card.
  18. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the ZIPS projection for Busenitz's WHIP isn't actually 7.16.
  19. I agree with the main thrust of this article - Rogers's success, and contribution to the team, is tied more closely to careful use of him, than for most players. I like him and he can be close to shutdown against left-handed battrers but he's pretty hittable versus righties (unless the stats staff can identify the correct righties to pit him against). You can't have very many guys on your staff that need to be managed around, so unless he can figure out some magic against good right-handers, his tenure with the team could be not much longer, cheap contract or not. LOOGYs aren't too hard to come by and rarely cost very much.
  20. Minnesota Twins 90-72 (Second in AL Central behind Cleveland, Wild Card #2) Offensive Player of the Year: Rosario Defensive Player of the Year: Buxton Overall Position Player of the Year: Buxton Most Home Runs: Sano Starting Pitcher of the Year: Berrios Relief Pitcher of the Year: Reed Twins Rookie of the Year: Garver, nearly by default
  21. Felix Jorge was one of my adopt-a-prospect guys last season, and it was fun watching him progress. It didn't occur to me that he was among the longer-tenured players in the Twins system. I hope the mention of Mauer's name doesn't obscure the presence of these other players. Seth's right to highlight their longevity.
  22. Twins still Jonesing for an opening day win...
  23. Surprised not to find anyone ftfy already...
  24. LaMarre with the base hit, as expected.
