  1. Cool! I have seen the ball park as I've crossed that bridge many times. My parents live in the quad cities area. Why have I never gone to a game there?!
  2. Nice article. I admit to being shocked at the numbers of extra base hits he's had since he's been up lately. Seeing the ball go to the warning track made me double-check to make sure it was him batting. Very nice to see. Go Benny Ben!
  3. I read this every day. One of the best things about this site. The Wings have almost the exact same record as the Twins (groan!).
  4. Yes, so disappointing. Depressing even. I had such hopes for Benson. Now he just seems like another "head case". I hope not and that he turns it around. Would like to see someone in right (for the Twins) who can hit.
  5. Great article. I have been yelling this to Morneau all season. Unfortunately he can't hear me through my tv. It's great to see him going the other way successfully rather than always chasing the away pitches which means (I hope) not all of the pitches he'll be fed will be away. Seems like we're seeing that a bit with Willingham now too. He has also hit a few away balls the other way instead of only being able to pull those pitches up and in (his fave).
  6. I've never understood why someone would go to a game to boo their team. However, yes, they can boo if they want to. Mauer's such a good guy he would probably say he understands and accepts it. Hope he turns it around soon. Meanwhile I'm contemplating a long weekend trip to Beloit.
  7. I really appreciate all the info in this article. Very informative. How about Mauer as your regular at 1st, and Doumit at C? Keep Butera as backup C. DH? Um, I'll get back to you. Maybe Parm could benefit from some time at AAA. Sounds like we should be optimistic he will improve. I'm worried about Valencia. I'd like to read an analysis of what's going wrong for him at the plate also.
  8. I don't really care who's up and who's down right now. We need to concentrate on figuring out who is going to be our starting pitchers in 2013/14. Problem is, we don't have that many "veterans" to trade for decent young or young-ish pitchers. What are we going to do?
  9. Whatever Sano may or may not have done after hitting his homer, the word "pimp" used by the Kernels' manager is insulting and just wrong.
  10. I never used to follow the minor leagues years ago. Have there been other players who have come through the Twins system with similar talent? I guess I'm wondering, if there were, were they sucessful in the majors?
  11. I would say he's already outclassing Beloit. Move him up now. Then maybe again if he continues to do well. Or skip him to Rochester next season. There's gotta be a way to excelerate his movement to the majors. I want to see him at TF soon. It seems he is a rare player, so I hope they don't treat him like the run-of-the-mill.
  12. If you're going to truly commit to a rebuilding year then I agree with most others. 1. Get rid of Burroughs and Thomas for sure. Bring up Dozier and Benson. 2. I'd like to trade Valencia along with maybe some other to get a starting pitcher, but who would play 3rd? If only Miguel Sano were ready... 3. Lirano to a back, dark corner of the bull pen. Put Swarzak back in the rotation. Oh and make Perkins the closer!
  13. My main concern since before the season started was starting pitching and the closer. I'm not quite ready to retch over the starters, but they have been rather wretched so far. As for Capps, oh get him out of there! Perky looked like his arm is ok last night (hope he has no pain today). He's gotta close.
  14. I have heard Bert talk about Lirano "flying open" often. It seems to be a known problem. When Andy goes out and talks to him, usually there are a couple of good pitches. What I don't get is, doesn't Liriano know by now that his problem is mechanics and when he's doing poorly, know what to do to fix it? He obviously does not. He should know! He should think, "ok I'm not striding in the right place" or whatever and change what he's doing. It was SO obvious from his body language and face that he didn't know what to do. By the end of it, he looked like he just wanted out.
  15. Yes, they go in not knowing for absolute sure and the patient is prepared for them doing "whatever needs doing". However, I remember a video I saw of an interview with Baker where he was talking about his injury and said something like, "the good new is, the ucl looks fine". Yow. When they give these results they sound so sure. They should say "the MRI has been interpreted as..." and also say MRIs are not always crystal clear. People probably don't know they aren't.
  16. Yes, very enjoyable game all 'round last night. I'm starting to like this team if the staring pitching would be as good as Pavano was last night (1st inning notwithstanding). Wonder which Liriano will appear tonight?
  17. Right, some other teams have started 0-4 but against much better teams than the O's. I feel like later this year we're going to need to trade for a starting pitcher but I'm afraid of what we'd have to give up. We can hardly spare the few good farm hands we have. I still think this team will get more wins than last year (unless top players go down again) but agree with Bark's lounge that we will find some fun/interesting things to follow. Only plus I see this season so far is that we have not had to watch Capps blow a save opportunity. Soon. Soon.
  18. I'm more worried about starting pitching than the bullpen. The bullpen will take care of itself once Capps gets switched to setup and Perkins to closer. I agree with StormJH1, Lirano's 2011 was not good even though the Twins call it "solid" and he remains a head case. He had a pretty good Spring but with him there's just no predicting. I'm just waiting for the usual problem with Blacky when his sinker stops sinking. Marquis is an unknown. Ugh, when are we going to get a good pitcher? I hope they pick a pitcher at their #2 pick. One with star power.
  19. Capps will struggle right away causing Perk to be made closer. Morneau, Plouffe and Hughes all hit 20 at least HRs. Mauer's average stays up over .300 all year. Willingham is a bust. Jamey Carroll goes down with an injury and Brian Dozier is made starting SS. Twins finish 2nd in the Division but don't get a WC spot.
