  1. Baseball is played everyday. For the true fans, it is always an emotional roller coaster. So its fine to speak out when a player is going well and when he's not. thats the whole fan thing. I see so many at ballparks nowadays with heads buried in cell phones or not paying attention at all to the play on the field. Its sad. Come September (August in the I.L.) the real baseball fans live and die with each pitch. These guys get paid pretty well so I don't particularly feel 'sorry' for them if they start getting tired in September. Its their job. With a few exceptions everyone who is a fan of the team wants them to win first and foremost. So a little passion whether positive or negative is what being a fan is all about. Its all good...as long as it doesn't get personal.
  2. A most improbable finish to a very satisfying day for the Minnesota Twins...sweeping a DH and ensuring a series win. 5 1/2 game lead with 14 to play. Looking for heros? I guess Polanco would be a big one. Sano of course in game two. And almost all the pitchers. Thorpe struggled but everyone else did his job. This turned out to be a character building day for a team that was scuffling. they found ways to win. Watching Kepler bat....he still looks hurt and we might not see him tomorrow. If we get the good Berrios tomorrow, we'll really be in business. 283 HR's...lost track of how many the Yankees have hit. Bravo Twins!
  3. Apparently his thumb is still not healed and clearly it is affecting his hitting because he is mired in a real bad slump. His 'd' is still good though.
  4. Something about playing on the road this season that agrees with this team. Don't know why they can't get it done at home. Now we look at how the bullpen has kept the Twins in this game, allowing them to comeback. We need two more good innings and this will be quite a day!!!
  5. This changes the entire dynamic of this game. Twins live and die by the HR....but Sano's blast was pure sweetness wasn't it.
  6. and I am a prophet....he does swing at that first pitch and crushes it. He was due....and it is a huge hit for his first career GS.
  7. So after that great double to tie the game, now we see the strikeout machine himself up with a chance to finally do something productive this week. Sano NEEDS to make contact this time...and he really needs to swing at a pitch down the middle, rather than taking it and then whiffing on low and outside junk. So, come on Sano......
  8. Twins hitters getting terrible contact in between all the strikeouts. Sano is a total mess right now...which means he is way overdue to close his eyes and accidentally slug one a mile....which we could sure use/
  9. when was the last time the Twins actually bunched 3 or 4 hits in a row to score runs? It seems like ages ago. they are getting miserable AB's...outside of the odd HR. While still in this one, it would be refreshing to see a legitimate rally by the Twins again.
  10. This is a problem that Twins have had now for several weeks. They can't get the big 2 out hit, while their opponent gets a ton of them...and they are all costly. Throw in the k brigade and we are VERY fortunate we won that first game. We have a few automatic outs in this lineup. Cron can't hit anything anymore. Castro can't hit at all. And Sano has forgotten how to make contact period. But did anyone really think we could win them both? What is surprising is that we won the game no one figured we could win and we are looking real bad in the game we had the best shot at winning. Our hitting has really disappeared, making it so hard for the pitchers.
  11. For some reason Twins play games like this on the road. They can't win them at home.
  12. And there is one big, gigantic, huge, mammoth, magnificent much needed WIN!!!!! What a great job by the pen in game one. Twins can sort of play with house money in game two. Polanco the MVP offensively. All the pitchers get gold stars for a gutsy performance. Nicely done.
  13. and we now await the 27th out....hopefully right now!
  14. uh-oh...Rogers opens the door with a bad misplay. Its never easy is it....
  15. and more k's....so it comes down to can Rogers get the biggest save of the year now? Don't have to say how huge these next 3 outs are.
  16. cruz....what the heck? Swing at one of those meatballs. Our guys are taking pitches right down the middle and swinging then at breaking balls outside and low. 2 seems to the the magic number of runs Twins have been getting lately. Our big hitters have looked sick today against a very wily pitcher, who apparenly has no problem going over that sacred 100 pitch count.
  17. Rocco wants this one badly now. Two innings to somehow keep the Indians at bay and we would have an incredibly huge win. How about a couple more runs???
  18. eventually, all these missed chances could come back to bite us. This lead is in no way safe and we could have used those two runs we didn't get.
  19. see, this makes my point about the k's. We needed Sano to put the bat on the ball here and he didn't come close. Over the past several weeks, Twins hitters are fanning with RISP at an alarming rate....for a team trying to nail down a division title. Another wasted opportunity.
  20. great inning again for Zack! Maybe he comes back for another?
  21. If Littell doesn't throw many pitches in the 5th , he needs to pitch the 6th. If it wasn't a DH, maybe not, but if he is effective, leave him in.
  22. Year stats don't mean much to me in the final stretch. It is what have you done lately that matters. Twins are having a miserable time hitting with RISP and the 'k' is the biggest culprit...lately....thats what I am seeing. It may be cliche but wins are harder to get in September than they are in April...when it matters.
  23. MVP of the first third of the game---Polanco hands down. Two run HR and game saving catch with sacks juiced. Lets see what LIttell can do for the middle 3.
  24. Now thats more like it!!!! Polanco just talked me off the ledge!!!
  25. Agree about Dyson. Just that Twins gave up a prospect (looking more impt now that Buxton is out for the millionth time) that was absolutely tearing up the IL like no one has ever done over his first 41 games. Maybe they didn't feel he was a grade A prospect but he surprised everyone. That Dyson has been a miserable flop just rubbed a bit of salt in the wounds....from this perspective.
