Not only are the majority terrible. Each Terrible Commercial has to survive many layers to make it to production. A room full of Marketing Pro's get together and come up with multiple ideas and from that group of people they select the best idea to pitch. Meanwhile... Other Marketing firms are coming up with ideas to get the contract so all of them end up pitching ideas and the the client ends up choosing a marketing firm based on who has the best idea. After it gets past that hurdle... The bad idea probably has to survive a focus group hurdle. Once the Ad clears those three opportunities to improve it without improvement... We get to watch a Soccer Mom selling Toyota's and the punch line to the Ad is: Simply changing outfits in seconds apparently.- 182 replies

That Wisconsin Tourism Commercial "Dogs are welcome in Wisconsin... And if they want... they can bring their people" I'm glad they finished with that last line because I wasn't sure how they could move the tourism dollar needle without the people. And I'm concerned now that Wisconsin is full of pet hair.- 182 replies

Location -- The Big Meeting Room at 1 Twins Way. (Terry Ryan walks into a full room of various people and is greeted by Senior Director of Communications Dustin Morse). Dustin: Thank You for coming Terry... We appreciate you taking the time to be here. Terry: Well... Both Jim and Dave thought I should give you some time. Dustin: Great... Great... Terry... This is Sandy from the firm Research Minnesota and she has put together a 30 minute presentation for you and I must say it's very... Terry: (interrupting) 30 Minutes? No... I can't do that... In 5 minutes I've got to take a phone call from someone who is going to tell me about an exciting 30 year old with speed playing right now in Colorado Springs… 30 Minutes… I can’t do that… give me the top sheet… let’s just go with the top sheet… what’d ya got. Dustin: Umm… OK… Sandy… you are up… we best get started. Sandy: Terry… I’m Sandy from Research Minnesota and I’ve brought along our best and brightest from our research team and that’s these 5 sitting next to me. Dustin: (interrupting) Terry have you been reading the comment sections or the Forums at Twins Daily. Terry: I don’t have time for that garbage… there is no possible benefit for me to read those opinions. I do not read them… I have never read them… and I will never read them. Dustin: OK… that’s a no… You don’t read the public forums… Got it. Well… I’ve been reading them and Public Opinion is turning on you pretty hard. For example… one commenter stated that Terry Ryan clearly doesn’t have a plan or simply can’t evaluate… Either way… it isn’t good and he must go”. Terry: I read that one… and that’s why I don’t read them. These people have no idea what it takes to run a club day to day. Dustin: I’ve been suspicious about public opinion and declining attendance, so I’ve asked Sandy from Research Minnesota to put a poll in the field and she’s here to give you the results. Terry: Top Sheet Please Sandy… Top Sheet. Sandy: Terry you are obviously busy… so right down to the results that matter. You currently have a 5% approval rating. This is down from 43% last year and 89% when you took the job for the 2nd time. Dustin: Terry… this survey was done exclusively from our Twins Database of Season Ticket Holders. I asked Sandy to make sure the results were not corrupted by respondents who may not be following baseball. Terry: You guys called my wife. Sandy: What? Terry: You called my wife. She was polled. Sandy: (looks at her staff) Well… the odds of that happening were Dustin: (looking at Sandy) What Zips did you use? Research Minnesota Assistant #2: Do you happen to know how she responded? Was she favorable or unfavorable? Research Minnesota Assistant #4: What is your phone number? What is her phone number? I guess that’s a better question. Research Minnesota Assistant #5: Yeah that’s a better question. Terry: Is that it? 5% approval rating… Dustin… what do you need me to do? Dustin: Terry… it’s really simple. We got to start walking things back in the other direction. You have to be more transparent with the fan base… you have to start talking about positives of the team… we have to start trying to move these numbers the other way… talk about the things that you have done well over the past few years. Terry: Like What? Dustin: We came up with a list of things that you’ve done well and we’d like you to talk about them instead of letting the negative churn over and over. Terry: Where’s the list? Dustin: It’s not a list so much… it’s a more of a… umm… Terry: I Got it… I’ll do a press box drive by today. Anything else? Sandy: We think it’s important to show Twins Fans that you care. Dustin: Yeah… If you could show up at the field during practice… Walk around a little… take it in… Jim Pohlad as well… Sandy: Let people know that you are not sleeping at night. Terry: OK… I got it… Thank You All... I’ve got a phone call to catch. (Terry gets up and heads for the door) Research Minnesota Assistant #5: (Shouts Out) 4 Percent!!! (Terry Stops and turns around and the room looks at the 5th Assistant) Research Minnesota Assistant #5: I found your wife’s questionnaire and I’ve thrown it out. Your new job approval rating is 4% Terry: Thanks (gives the thumbs up sign and leaves)

Well, Both LaVelle and Berardino have the same quotes today. After reading both... I think it's quite possible that Terry Ryan walked into the press box on purpose.
-
I had to go read the entire article in the Trib because anytime you read quotes... you have to take them with a grain of salt because I know first hand that they can end up being presented 180 degrees different than meant and that sort of thing happens a lot. But... I'd have to assume that Lavelle and Terry have enough experience with each other that those types of things would have to be corrected by now. Jeez... I don't know. The quote sure doesn't build confidence in the man in charge... It leaves more questions than answers... It scares me that more Grossman types are on the way?

Just for clarification... Nurse Meant? A. Nurse is saying: People will complain no matter what? B. Nurse is saying: Even if the front office made every decision exactly like a (collective composite of TD posters) wanted... the moves still wouldn't be enough and the (collective composite of TD posters) would then be critical of itself? C. Nurse is saying: The team is bad... all your moves wouldn't work either so you will all just spin yourself into the ground until people can walk on your head? D. Nurse is saying: It's easy to say what went wrong after it went wrong? E. All of the Above

Manager Responsibility or Poor Performance
Riverbrian replied to KrnlDoug's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I think Paul will be back in 2017 no matter what. But... if he wasn't. I think almost all of the manager candidates will do and say the same things because the majority have been following a book written a long time ago. There is only one manager I know that doesn't follow the book and has been undeniably successful and I can't have that manager. So I'll settle for the guy who has been working next to him... Dave Martinez. Just hoping I'd get something similar and that's a hire done without interview or background check. Otherwise... Jeez... they all hit and run at the same time. You just got to hope that they are at least advanced enough to actually shift when someone like Dozier bats. -
I type like this frequently. You'll have to take another swing at it before I can respond.

Manager Responsibility or Poor Performance
Riverbrian replied to KrnlDoug's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I've often wondered how anyone really knows if Dougie Baseball or anyone is a good manager without watching Chattanooga nightly and even if they did watch the Lookouts nightly... I've wondered how any could compare him to Possibility X someplace else. However... This post is one of the first times that I've read logic on the subject and thought to myself... "I can see the thought process". -

Honestly I had Dozier down in INK as the starting 2B but I've always likedNunez and appreciated him as a quality spare part. But this has all lead to a serious question that needs answering. At what point do you scrap your pre-season assessments of who is the better player and switch to the player that is actually producing. When it comes to Nunez and Dozier... I reached that point around the end of April and I'm waiting for Molitor to join me. I may have ran ahead.- 232 replies

Dear Dick Bremer, Dozier is not being held and there is a runner on 2nd who has an inclination to steal. Dozier better be watching Santana and not the pitcher. Sincerly, Riverbrian- 232 replies

Yeah... I think a waning is to be expected in consideration of the product. However... Saturday and Sunday Afternoons... or any afternoon for that matter is usually much lighter. Some folks would rather go outside and build a gazebo than watch a game indoors.- 232 replies
