  1. Here's a live photo of me that shows I'm OK http://previews.123rf.com/images/blueskyimage/blueskyimage1309/blueskyimage130900203/21986202-Big-baby-with-Teddy-Bear-Infant-adult-man-sleeping-with-his-teddy-bear-Stock-Photo.jpg
  2. Not saying he is right or wrong but... This article matches my suspicion. http://www.latimes.com/sports/mlb/la-sp-dodgers-deleon-trade-20170123-story.html
  3. I'm not sure either but the TwinsDaily record is 117 times and it was set by DaveW on this very subject. There was a Joe Benson thread awhile back that had around 41 repeat explanations from someone. My favorite was when Jack Goin had to explain to Ash that he was really Jack Goin. Welcome to TwinsDaily.
  4. My thoughts: 1. I'm surprised that the Rays dealt Forsythe. 2. Smart Move by the Dodgers... Dozier is clearly better in my opinion but Forsythe can't be sneezed at. 3. I still would rather eat Dozier than get less value out of desperation. 4. The Dodgers found another way to improve... The Twins can do the same.... it's just harder to see and it might take longer. 5. The Sun will Rise Tomorrow... GO TWINS!!!
  5. I won't dismiss that... but... to me... it still looks like: JDL JDL JDL JDL He looks awfully hand selected to me. Disclaimer: My opinion is just as out of the loop as everybody else here. FWIW
  6. You could be right but JDL is not blocked as long as he has 3 options left. If the Dodgers believe that DeLeon was as good as others say. It would have been very smart to simply stash him in AAA to replace whoever gets hurt and somebody always get hurt every year in every rotation. This leads me to think it's quite possible that if no trade happened... JDL may not have been the first guy they called up. Consider... JDL was the only name consistently mentioned in a Dozier trade... JDL was the guy that was actually traded to the Rays. Here's the way that should look to us outsiders: JDL JDL JDL JDL JDL JDL JDL JDL JDL JDL JDL JDL JDL JDL JDL I have no idea what happened but the one thing that seems very clear... JDL was the guy the Dodgers targeted for trade bait and I can't help but ask why him? As long as he has options... he is not blocked... He's incredible insurance in that case. JDL was the one they chose to trade. They... the Dodgers... Chose... to trade. All those arms and the only name consistently mentioned... JDL JDL JDL JDL JDL JDL JDL JDL.
  7. Hubris is one of the great renewable resources.
  8. Trading for Dozier doesn't guarantee them a playoff spot anymore than resigning Utley. It makes them a little more likely, but it's not chiseled in stone. That is what you typed And I agree that Dozier doesn't guarantee the Dodgers anything. However... If you feel that Dozier isn't a significant upgrade over Utley at 2B... on that we will disagree. If you feel that the Dodgers will make the playoffs anyway with Utley or Enrique... I won't argue that either cuz the Dodgers look good on paper but that type of thinking is Hubris and there is a downside to hubris. There are 8 teams with legitimate chances to grab one of 5 playoff spots in the NL next year. I'd try to get better in 2017 when the opportunity arises. Dozier guarantees none of it.. Dozier just makes the Dodgers most likely better and it's dangerous to pass up getting better because of Hubris.

  10. No man ever steps into the same river twice. For it's not the same river and he is not the same man.
  11. Thanks Ben. I can't see either scenerio happening but I do enjoy the discussion. In my opinion... Kinsler for a CF is the closest possibility however the Tigers will ask for more than a CF and I'm just gonna be shocked if the Tigers self inflict any more damage on 2017 for 2018 gain. Of course if the Tigers are 12 games back in July. I could see them selling off pieces immediately right before they fire Avila and Ausmus. Kinsler should cost as much or more than Dozier.
  12. What do you think the Tigers would require for Kinsler? You agree that Kinsler would cost quite a bit?
  13. And that leads me back to the return part and Kinsler is going to require a big package in return. He won't be cheap. If the Tigers trade Kinsler and give the job to Jones. Retooling or tooling... the Tigers made a trade for 2018 and not 2017 unless the Dodgers are going to give a CF to the Tigers. I think the Tigers think they have a chance in 2017 because the gang is still there.
  14. If rebuilding... they don't appear to be heading that direction. I can't see Kinsler being available unless there is a big overpay for him.
  15. I can't see it either. Now if the Tigers would have dealt JD Martinez after they dealt Maybin. Now you are looking at a completed shift toward tearing it down. The Tigers seemed to have hit the brakes and seem willing to give it another shot in a weakened Central. Trading Kinsler would create a 2nd Hole (2B and CF). I don't see it at this point. Unless of course... The Dodgers over pay. If they are going to do that... It might as well be for Dozier instead.
  16. All I know is that I've personally gone from saying and hoping that Falvey/Levine hold their ground and stay strong to now personally wanting... Falvey/Levine/Friedman/Zaidi all in the same room and the same table. I would have them all lean over the table real close together like they had to listen to something real quiet and then I would knock all 4 of their heads together while screaming FIGURE IT OUT!!! Come to an agreement that works for both sides!!! Call in 10 mediators if you have to... Quit trying to take advantage of each other's situation and help each other out.
  17. Maybe but if I'm the Braves GM I'd be interested in Wong as a bounce back candidate. Petersen doesn't excite me either. But I'm mainly spit-balling. Honestly... The Braves could just go get Dozier and leave the Cards out. How bout Wong to the A's? The Rays would have been a great third team to trade with before they traded Smyly because they had some extra arms lying around.
  18. "All the Chips to the Center of the Table" I agree that would be gutsy. However... the Dodgers have one of the deepest farm systems in all of baseball. I don't know for sure but I don't think we are talking about "all of the chips to the center of the table". As for what's safer... on that point we will disagree. If I'm the Dodgers GM... I'm looking at 2B and I'm filling that hole before the season starts and when I put together the list of possibilities. Dozier is #1 on my list.
  19. I've been thinking for awhile now that it was looking like a 3 or 4 team trade was needed to move Dozier just to increase the options. I still think Dozier to Cards and Wong to the Braves makes sense. The Cards and Braves can each throw pitching prospects our way.
  20. All the 2nd Basemen are tucked in and not on the market and if something isn't for sale... there is going to be considerable mark up to make it for sale. The 2B store only has an Utley on the shelf and Utley was placed on the shelf by the Dodgers because they were hoping for a better model. The length of time suggests that the Dodgers don't have another team to go to. I think the Rays think they have a chance and I think Forsythe is a big part of that thinking. Hes gonna be expensive. If Forsythe for Stewart got it done. It would have been done.
  21. I agree with you on this completely. However you stepped out of context. This quote of yours was in response to my response to someone elses response... That the Dodgers are a playoff team without Dozier. So... I'm not sure where to go next because I'm about to get pushed from both sides. It puts me in the middle of a discussion that when combined together says... The Dodgers are a playoff team without Dozier but not guaranteed to be a playoff team with Dozier. For clarity... There are no gaurentees. I'm not selling Dozier as a playoff guarantee. I'm selling Dozier to the Dodgers because they need a 2B and we need pitching. It's one of those moments where we could help each other out.
  22. Seems it never rains in Southern CaliforniaSeems I've often heard that kind of talk before.
  23. Yeah they do But so do the Nats... Mets... Cubs... Cards... and Giants. The Rockies and Pirates can't be discounted either. Plus... you can add that team that comes out of nowhere because a team comes out of nowhere every year. It's not a controversial take for the Dodgers to be considered one of the best teams in the NL right now. It would be controversial to bank on it... coast... or simply underestimate the other teams competing for a playoff spot. I'm not arguing the strength of the current Dodgers on paper. I just openly question anybody who puts the hammer down when they know a nail is not pounded in.
