  1. Another base runner and Peavy wii have to sit down.
  2. Peavy has got some movement on those balls....
  3. Cant do it... Warm up your small talk... For the awkward moments... For conversation starters... Throw out lines like: Sure wish I was In Hawaii right now. So this is April... At least... That's what the calender says. How long have you worked here? These drinks come in glasses way to small. Do you think it would be OK if I just carried around a bottle. So when is the baby due? Have you picked out names yet? Your not pregnant... I'm sorry about that. Can I get you a drink or something? Can I ask you something... what's your favorite vegetable? And it has to be green. Are those your real teeth? Do you ever have strange dreams about Bob Eubanks or Bob Barker?
  4. Nobody has to be traded... Someone will have to be sent down or waived... But no one has to be traded. A little creative managing and there is plenty of playing time for everyone. Its fun to think about trades but it doesn't have to happen to find room for Arcia.
  5. Colabello and Sano homer again. Meyer 6 innings of shut out ball. Buxton with another multiple hit game. Its starting to make me dance... And I dance like Elaine Benes. I don't remember wanting to dance last year.
  6. I watched the Terry Ryan interview from the winter meetings on MLB. There is no way the comment "we can't give our money away" could be perceived as whining. If you watched it... It was clear he was joking. He chuckled after he said it. I have never seen Terry Ryan even smile... He smiled and chuckled after he said it. Robin Williams he's not but he was just trying to entertain. Thats all.. Carry on.
  7. Dang it... Can't we find someone... Someone good with tools... Nail a bunch of plywood together.... Slide it over the top... And Voila... A roof for only when needed for the price of plywood.
  8. The thing that really makes me pause about the weather this April... Without Global Warming... The Temp would be around 5 degrees.
  9. I guess Borbon has hit waivers. I can't imagine the Astros passing but if he does fall to the Twins... Man... What a hard decision it will be. It's too soon to make any decisions on Hicks but if you wait... Borbon or someone like him would probably not be available. I'd hate to make that call. Maybe the Astros will remove the need to make that call.
  10. And... If placed on the active roster... If they need to send him down... He would be exposed to waivers... It's almost like you can't use him because you could lose him. I imagine they have to be damn sure he's ready.
  11. Anyone have an update on Deduno? Checking for stats... I see he has none. Anyone know what the injury is? How long will he be out?
  12. I understood that you didn't have a problem with Correia directly on the night in question. Your comment was clear to me (I think) to be about Gardy. You had a problem with Gardy because he didn't seem to understand what you felt Correia was capable of... An opinion seemingly partly based on IP examples from the past couple years that you provided. That led to the OVER 6IP statement that you made and while accurate, I felt it was a bit push poll-ish and not good for Correia perception. Pollster: How would you feel if the Twins signed a pitcher that only pitched over 6IP 5 times? Pollster: How would you feel if the Twins signed a pitcher that pitched 6IP 19 times out of 27 starts. Then today... paraphrasing it was "he historically pitches good in April"... While accurate when looking at the past two years... It leaves the impression that it's just April... He's gonna get scored upon big time in May and beyond... That may not be what you were saying... but looking at both examples... I decided to respond and debate. That's all... No biggie... I just like my Eggs sunny side up. And on top of of a Hamburger... Covered in Cheese... Next to a plate of Buffalo Wings.
  13. Its no biggie... It was just the way it read. I don't remember the exact wording but you typed something along the lines. Correia never pitched OVER 7IP in 2012 and only pitched OVER 6IP 5 times. I got what you were saying but I felt that it painted Correia poorly because pitching OVER 6IP only 5 times sounds terrible. He pitched at least 6 innings 19 times in 27 starts. Two different ways of phrasing it and each leaves a different impression. If you go through all MLB pitchers... you'll find that a large portion of starting pitchers do not go 7 innings very often. Correia is no different than the entire starting pitching group. Besides IP doesn't matter... It's the pitch count that they watch. He threw OVER 84 pitches... 15 times last year.
  14. I don't know about an 11 man staff but I agree that Arcia can be cycled in with Parm, Morneau, Hammer, Doumit and Mauer. Arcia doesn't need to play every day... None of them do... They just need to play a majority of the days and some creative managing can make that happen.
  15. Watching Arcia yesterday was fun... If the Cards can find room for Adams... The Twins can certainly find a way to include Arcia. Maybe not yet but soon enough. Today while thinking of Arcia... I can't help but think of Arnold Swarzenagger walking into the police station in the Terminator. "I'll be Back"
  16. BTW... Why are using the crabby looking chick avatar. We won yesterday... You need something appropriate for a win... Drag that girl out after losses only.
  17. I know... What a moment for me... I'm just worried about those uncontrolled variables. Ron Gardenhire is an uncontrolled variable. He may be heading straight for 6 walks but Gardy could pull him early and we will never know. I'm worried that Gardy doesn't understand or care about the science of my new project. I'm hoping Gardy reads this and gives Correia a fair shot at 6 free passes.
  18. Puck... No need to apologize... It's just debate. I hope you can agree that I tend to be a little optimistic and you tend to be a little more pessimistic. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle but neither of us are fair and balanced like Fox News is. I guess Correia is gonna be my new Ben Revere. I'll just say that... Correia wasn't my first choice but during the off season... I looked at his game log and I wasn't afraid of the signing anymore and Twins Daily was still burning over it. I think he will be alright and if I'm wrong... It won't be the 1st or 7th time. With the exception of July and August of 2011. He gave the Pirates a reasonable chance to win the game during a majority of his starts... Our offense is capable of taking it from there... (Hopefully). I think Vodkadave started a nice thread here and your April compliment seemed backhanded and that was following the OVER 6IP and OVER 7IP comment from a other thread that I thought was painted to your point and not completely fair to KC. In the end... We probably won't change each others mind and that's OK. This place would be boring without conflicting view points. Its all cool.
  19. 1. Try 2. I have lots of Strange Policy's 3. It's actually interesting unless you try to present it as an issue. 4. Doing away with Splits is an extreme response to my statement that I believe that I will struggle to find a chronological link on the majority of players. 5. I agree that there is nothing wrong with looking at everything. I'm not sure that you have looked at everything. I know that I haven't. 6. I wouldn't call it a bad june... He's not Clayton Kershaw... A 4.46 ERA will be a nice addition to the Twins after last year. 7. Your April example would be solid... If only he didn't have other stretches of good starts throughout the year and you can guarentee me that he will be strong again in April 2014.
  20. Your sarcasm detector is working correctly. Like I said... I'll have to research it. Personally... and I mean personally... I believe that I will have a tough time linking monthly performance over time on the overwhelming majority of players. Correia had a nice April in 2012 and 2011... He also had a nice September in 2012 if it wasn't for one start against the Mets. He was also decent from May 20 to June 28 in 2012. In 2011... Kevin Correia had a 3.40 ERA on June 1 so it actually lasted longer than April. Matter of fact... He was at 3.73 on July 3. August and September in 2011 didn't go so well for him. I don't have a problem with the use of historical stats. I just sensed an implication from a hand selected incomplete sample and at first blush I do not see any chronological pattern to his success and failures.
  21. An even closer look: 2011- in his 4th start of the year: Correia walked 4 batters. 2012- in his 4th start of the year: Correia walked 5 batters. 2013- 4th start is up next: Trending looks like a lock at 6 walks against Chicago on Saturday. This is an interesting concept... I'm intrigued... I'll start researching it later... player by player... I'm sure I'm gonna find Monthly correlation of all pitchers and playes... results will I'm sure repeat itself from year to year. For Example... Brandon McCarthy I'm sure I'll find that he sucks in April every year. I'll find that Clay Buchholz is lights out every April. This will be a interesting project.
  22. You'd figure they would be called Sunroof in California. Moonroof is for... I don't know... Carolina or Italy. Those are the only geographic locations that I can think of that are known for their special moons.
  23. Glass Raised... Who knows how the rest of the season goes but after an off season of general upsetness over his signing. I would think Twins Daily can show him some love for this thread at least to make up for it.
  24. When the Levee Breaks is over 7 minutes long. It can fill a pitching change... And a Mike Hargrove at bat.
