Brian Harper couldn't run fast enough to set off a first-gen motion detector with cataracts, and he got a few of those. The odds are in your favor if you can put the ball in play.
Or have him hand you a lead tonight. That's not meant to be a cheap switch-a-roo, but the more we see that the Twins need SOME kind of starter who you stake your claim around, the more frustrating it is to me that the opposition to returning May to the rotation has broken down to 'meh, why bother, depth etc. and sure, but they can't/won't, so

Old. Man. Comes. Through. At this point Hunter is to me is as a player what Don Baylor was in '87. He might whiff on a pitch that the bullpen catcher could've handled. He might charge the mound and dismember the other team's Pedro Martinez. He might lead a pre- or post-game ritual that would have made Caligula blush. And he might just find some of the old magic and win a big game when you'd least expect it.
And for that much money, also the occasional 500 ft / 5 run pinch hit homer, one would hope. But as long as the Pohlads are ok with the grandkids taking group polo lessons and the Twins scouts can assure of Harper's DJ/dry ice skills, I'm game for it.
Whoa whoa whoa, sport! Let's be realistic! Where do you see Harper fitting in with our system-wide logjam of outfield talent? DH/4th OF if Brooks Sano sticks at third?

Bummer that the kid couldn't come up with another hit, but seeing him bat as the cleanup hitter with the game on the line and the team in the playoff hunt with two weeks to go is waaaay more than I expected from either him or the team for most of the season.
It's really nice to see, for the first time in I don't know how long, to see a fly ball leave the bat and think, 'Oh, good, that's an out' instead of 'Oh, crap, single, double or triple?'
If anything he seems almost LESS likely to get overly aggressive in clutch situations. That's something that you'd be happy to see him add to his arsenal in the second half of his 20's. Having him show up with that ability to lay off bad pitches in key RBI situations already developing makes his rookie season that much more mind-bendingly great.
