It was a beautiful carom and a very nice throw by Rosie and all, but.. man, Dozier was goofing around on Twitter by the time Rua and his plow pulled into the driveway out in front of second base.
It's April, Jinxy. You wanna wait until at least the ASG before you start voodooing the boys with this kind of talk? http://petattack.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/31467_large_Mr_Jinx_Meet_The_Parents_Wide.jpg
And it's not often you see a ground crew resort to using a Bobcat between innings... http://www.equipmentworld.com/files/2012/10/T550_Dumping_Dirt-1024x682.jpg
After homering already himself and coming to bat following four other guys' extra base hits, I gotta think Vargas went to the plate just looking to put the bat on the ball and not try to do too much...
It's nice to see the unexpectedly good defensive plays outnumber the unbelievably bad ones, not just for Sano but the for most of the rest of the d as well. Of course, Sano could play third in a loveseat with a bowl of Doritos for all I care if he's going to hit the ball into the parking lot.
'North Korea's celebration of its sub-launched MauerPower SLBM's successful test was short-lived, however, as the missile suddenly flamed out, bounced three times on the water, and sank beneath the waves'
And that perfectly sums up the problem. If he were terrible, they would have moved on by now. But he's shown just enough flashes of potential to keep the Twins invested. That, and the Twins' remarkable ability to find pitchers who make Gibson look good by comparison.
Or to keep getting it wrong until he's released, since (as someone else pointed out) he's 'committed to his approach' this year, which is apparently best described as " baserunners on parade".
Generosity is a fine quality in moderation. Unfortunately Gibson is swimming in it. Despite the 1st round pedigree, he rolled off the same pitch-to-contact assembly line as almost every other Twins starting pitcher of the past decade.
Other than "Rock Around the Clock", he's really just got "See ya Later Alligator" and some indifferent off-speed stuff that he can't throw on fastball counts. That, and possibly to help us prepare for the possibility that Levine was hired to be the new Terry Ryan instead of the new GM.
What's the appropriate opposite of the 'Free Player X!" chant for a deserving player who an organization refuses to promote from AAA? Hmmm. "Imprison Byron Buxton!" ? There's an argument to be made that he's better off riding out the storm at this level, but... good Lord. Also: Who took my toque? Mahtook, methinks.
