  1. I suppose its worth a shot. Diamond cant pitch much worse than Hendricks, can he?
  2. Mauer hit at 2 out go ahead single? Let the complaining begin that he didn't hit a home run there! Nice pitching by the bullpen to get the win!
  3. if anyone breaks it up its going to be Span to extend the hitting streak to 13 games....
  4. it all starts with pitching, get a reliable rotation and we can worry about the offense when we are losing 2-1 games
  5. yeah, this is rough. Another bad series. Can we win a game against Seattle? I don't know
  6. It all starts with the pitching. As soon as Santana left we were in trouble. The team assumed Liriano would emerge as that ace we needed to anchor a rotation and win playoff games. We need to spend the money on a #1 starter, even if it means breaking the bank on it. It was great back in 04/05 when we would roll into Yankee stadium and pitch great. And that was an offense that included everyday players like Blanco, Mientkiewicz, Rivas (none of which hit over .260 for the season). Granted we did have much more power hitters in guys like Jones, Hunter and Koskie. But it all starts with pitching. Get an ace and find a rotation thats going to get you wins no matter how your offense produces....worry about the rest later.
  7. lol, at this rate though, how long can we hang with them!
  8. Love the optimism thread. Lets see a win!
  9. I agrree. Keep Pavano, Blackburn, Marquis in the rotation. Mix in Diamond sometime soon....The day Liriano is no longer a twin, is the day this team starts to turn it around.
  10. Plouffe, Parmelee, Casillia coming up in the 9th. So you're saying there's a chance!
  11. Cmon doumit, tie this thing up!
  12. If you trade Span, we need to make sure we get a lot back for him. Clearly he is back to the player he was 2-3 years ago. A great leadoff hitter with a decent arm. I would hate to see him go, but now is the time to get something for him....
  13. 4.5 behind the tigers. Ill take it. Although look at last summer, when they made that run from late May to June, the pitching was fantastic, they were winning a lot of 2-1 and 3-2 games. If the starters (even 2 starters) can turn it around, we'll be ok.
  14. I like revere too, if he could find a way to have at bats like span, then he would be the perfect leadoff hitter. But until he learns how to get on base more, he's nothing more than a bottom of the order guy
  15. I like your closer by committee approach. Between Perkins, Burton, and Capps. It gives us a little more flexibilty.
  16. Okay, we got this game to our bullpen without being behind! Thats gotta be worth something...
  17. Anyone know what the deal is with JJ Hardy this year? All signs were pointing to him having another huge season after the contract extention. He's batting .178, 3 homers and 5 RBI. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7283 Obviously its still the first month.....
  18. another tough loss, can we please take a game against Kansas city this weekend?
  19. I dont think the whole minor league system is horrific. The pitching is bad but we have some good bats down there who will help us out down the road (a lot of them were up with the Twins last year) Yes, it would be nice to be able to call up a starter or two to replace these guys. But we already have Hendricks in the rotation and if it wasnt for an injury Gibson would be here too. Scott Diamand pitched ok last year and is off to a good start in AAA. Pavano, Liriano, Baker could all be gone next year. Hopefully at least 2 of those 3. I'd like to see them pick up a legit starter in the offseason and bring up Gibson if he's ready.
  20. followed by a terrible at bat by Doumit....
  21. heck of an at bat by Justin.
  22. Cant believe he got out of there only giving up 3 runs....we'll see how long Blackburn lasts tonight....
  23. Currently an outfielder for New Britain. Drafted by the Twins in the 08 Amateur Draft in the 10th Round. Age: 25 Bats: Right Throws: Right Height: 6' 1" Weight: 200 lb 3 years of minor league service time. He has has a career .273 batting average in the minors. Off to a good start this season with New Britain batting .314. A below average defensive player might eventually make the move to first base. Was drafted because of his raw Home Run potential but strikes out a lot. Power numbers have yet to show up in the minors (hit only 7 homers last year and struck out 108 times).
  24. Im thinking we will see Justin back at first more by Late June. They said they wouldnt rush him back....even though he is hitting a lot better and I would love to see him back at first sooner.
