  1. I dont see the reason to add stress on Castro and Garver by sending Astudillo down. Twins offense has been great with him. They're gonna need to rest Castro and Garver as much as possible to keep them fresh down the road. Arraez and Littel will benefit much more from playing in AAA than Astudillo will. Tortuga is a utility bench guy.
  2. I just don't think it's smart to send down our 3rd catcher when our primary catcher just got off the IR. Garver will not be able to do the catch/not catch/catch/not catch rotation for a couple weeks so he can get readjusted. You're gonna need Tortuga until Garver is at full strength. Keeping Astudillo up keeps stress off of both Garver and Castro. I think Littel should be sent down before Tortuga.
  3. The notion that Tortuga plays each position poorly is just not true. He's got a good arm behind the plate and has a 1.000 field percentage in 197 innings played.
  4. Gonna have to disagree with this one. Sure Astudillo is in a little bit of a slump since getting of IR, but he adds a lot of versatility to the field, especially since Garver will have just gotten off IR and Twins will need a little more flexibility at catcher. Arraez will benefit much more from a player development standpoint by playing everyday at AAA. Sure it's nice to have his bat, but the Twins don't really need it right now. They'll have Cruz and Garver back soon, which are two of our best hitters.
  5. Garver sounds like he'll be ready to play for the weekend, Rocco says Pineda is only going to miss 1 start and Cruz might be ready to go for Tampa. So it'll probably be Smeltzer getting sent down after his start -> Garver being activated and possibly Arraez getting sent down after today's game -> Cruz being activated. When Pineda gets activated its probably going to be either Littel or Astudillo being sent down.
  6. There's really not much to it. Cruz has a sore wrist and Twins want to rest him. Offense has been doing fine without Cruz so there's no need to rush him.
  7. Harper has been so damn good. I'm seriously impressed by him this year.
  8. Our last win streaks have been 4,5 and our latest was 6. Time for the 7 streak boys.
  9. Milwaukee has given up the 4th most home runs in the league. Perfect. If the Twins do good over these next series (Brewers, Rays, Cleveland) the doubters will have little left to use to discount our team. Let's prove them wrong.
  10. Over the past 10 games we've averaged 9.4 runs per game. Wow.
  11. Does any one know if an MLB team has never had a 3+ game losing streak in a season?
  12. I think people are sleeping on the trade value of Cave, Raley, and Rooker. Those guys should be some of the first names the Twins throws on the block.
  13. Arraez should not be in the trade discussion. This dude is a utility player that could be priceless for the Twins in the future years if he hits well and defends well. I'd say every prospect except Graterol (potential Ace), Kirilloff (potential future 1st baseman), and Arraez (potential future super utility) should be on the trade block.
  14. Every game Arraez is making it harder and harder for the FO. DFA Adrianza?
  15. Why would we trade our primary right fielder when we have no immediate replacement who can be consistent there everyday? The more comments I read on this site the more I'm very glad that none of us have any say in what moves the Twins do.
  16. Looks like a great player, but the Twins shouldn't take the plunge on him 2020. Resign Schoop (if he doesn't absolutely suck from now until the end of the year) and have Luis next year fill Adrianza's role.
  17. Hopefully Berrios and Gibby can go deep in their games so we can give the bullpen some extra rest for what will probably be another set of very competitive games against the Angels
  18. Looks like it's Austin Adams coming up. Hopefully Wes can work his magic and turn this guy into a reliable arm. I have hope. There's been success stories like this before.
  19. I think it's time to get on the phone with some teams who can trade relievers for prospects.
  20. Graterol's stuff looks nasty. I'd like to see the Twins accelerate him up to AAA. If Pineda continues to struggle he should have a MLB tryout sooner rather than later.
  21. Also if Garver needs a DL stint we gotta bring up Sano. I don't trust Adrianza or Tortuga one bit in this line up. Sure Sano will strike out, but at least he'll bring a power threat.
