  1. MLB Trade Rumors is reporting Franklyn Kilome - a preseason #68 overall on Baseball Prospectus and midseason #7 on Phillies - our trade looks just that much worse now
  2. you obviously haven't read all of my other posts in this whole thread - the #15 prospect on nearly every other team would be better than the #3 prospect from ARI. Their #10 prospect would rank 20th on most other teams. I seriously didn't want the team to trade Escobar, but we could've chose a team with a prospect base to draw from. Especially since every major news site was referring to Escobar as the second most desired tradeable MI behind Machado for most of the last month.
  3. none of those players would have gone 75-78 either - one was a nineteenth rounder
  4. you are getting three prospects in the double-digits of a team whose #3 prospect would be #15 on 90% of the other teams in the league. None of them would be a top-50 pick next year
  5. he was also a borderline allstar who can play effectively at four positions is an extra base machine and by all accounts was the most sought after MI available behind Machado in this years trade class. I don't mind that we traded him I just don't like that we traded him to a team with a bottom 2/3 farm system.
  6. listen I know we are not getting duplantier from them, however ARI's two-five prospects would rank 15th-20th on anyother minor league team except for maybe Anaheim and Boston. Seriously any #15 prospect from MIL would be better than any combo of crap that ARI will send us
  7. if Duplantier isnt in as piece #1 than I'm out if I'm the Twins - unless they are sending us Archie Bradley or one of their 17 MLB OF'ers
  8. Dumb ass trade - Arizona's farm system is whack
  9. Hopefully tonight's start will solidify the Twins' desire to hold onto Gibby. We need some proven talent in our rotation next year to have a chance.
  10. I'm not saying not to target him, but Sheffield is just as likely to succeed at the MLB level as Sano or Buxton were a few years back. Just because a player projects as a star doesn't mean they will be one. A bird in the hand is always worth two in the bush. Now if the Yanks want to offer us Bird in a deal than that would truly be a Bird in the hand.
  11. for the deal to include all three of them it would have to start with Freddy PEralta and I doubt that is happening
  12. With Ryu returning soon, and Hill Wood and Kershaw all back starting (and pitching well) and Stripling and Buehler each pitching lights out at times LA doesn't need any more starting pitcher types. They do need another BP piece though making Duke or Pressley an option for them
  13. so you don't want a solid 2B that will produce a 80-20-80-10 line for $17MM next year. What second basemen do you intend to play that will produce those stats next year for less money (unless Gordon is ready - and even then his numbers will be nowhere near that in his first full MLB season)
  14. I Believe we keep escobar and shift Sano to full-time 1B/DH next year (depending on whether or not Mauer wants to keep playing). Dozier is likely gone implying that Gordon had better be ready to step in everyday - or pray that Royce is able to make a big jump sliding Polanco to 2B. OF will be Rosario, Kepler, and Buxton (If he isn't a complete failure again later this year). Assuming Garver and Cave will be back as two bench bats. That likely leaves two or three bat spots: starting catcher, reserve MI, and possibly DH/CI reserve (if Mauer retires). The starting staff will be likely: Berrios, Erv, Gibson, ?, ? (Some combo of Odorizzi, Romero, Mejia, Slegers, and Gonsalves) Bullpen will be: Reed, Rogers, Busenitz, Hildenberger, Pressley, ?, ? Starting Catcher is the most obvious spot we need an upgrade going into next season. If we can get one lets do it.
  15. id be cool with Maldonado, flowers, grandal, or mesoraco if we go this route.
  16. I would love to get him but I am afraid that SD probably still wants a healthy return for him - and they don't need prospects (they'd be looking for more ready to contribute talent). He would cost less than Realmuto obviously. I still would love to see what Twins would have to offer to get Salvy. He rakes at Target Field.
  17. I generally agree with this statement but coming out of the ASB the only reason Motter was called up was to offer another bench body for the couple days till the Twins activate Santana to start. Sano needs at least a couple games at AAA to confirm his ability to deal with off-speed pitches. If he fares well this weekend, I expect him to be called up early next week. By then, Motter will likely be sent down or DFA'ed.
  18. I love all the people calling for the Twins to sell everyone now. Next year those same hucksters will say we need to sell Rosario and Kepler before we cant afford them - cause "we need to get whatever we can get for them before they walk" and then in 2020 those same people will say we need to sell Romero and Berrios to get some prospects for them. It is laughable that some posters want the Twins to become the new Rays or the As. Newsflash - it is ok to keep some of our own FA-to-be's.
  19. I'd still like to see Twins try to add Chirinos from Texas at catcher and still try for this year - remember last year. That said, I'm also not opposed to dumping guys like Rodney, but doubt we'd get anything of immediately usable value for him. I know its a long shot but if I was the Mets would I take Gonsalves, Gordon, and a C-prospect for either Thor or DeGrom? or if you were the Twins would you be willing to include Lewis in a deal for one of them?
  20. in quasi-related news: Yu Darvish was shellacked again today - SO MUCH MORE preferring both Lynn and Odorizzi for less combined than Yu right now.
  21. And simultaneously Yu Darvish got hammered
  22. Through the first three games - zero earned runs allowed
  23. well Escobar starts now. I also assume both Adrianza and Aybar make team. Unless we keep one more pitcher.
  24. remember a couple years back when our rotation was Scott Diamond Sam Deduno and X, Y, Z off the street - this rotation is bonkers comparatively.
  25. Gibson as our #5 = nice - this team got Odorizzi, Lynn, and Morrison for just a little more this year than Darvish - I consider this a win.
