  1. Seems they learned their lesson from the Addison Reed signing. Keep it short, sweet and always leave yourself with a way out.
  2. I don't think they're targeting the free agents we are... I think they're targeting every free agent available
  3. I think that the terms "frantic" and "undisciplined" basically describe Preller's entire tenure in SD
  4. Or that we signed Cruz at all...
  5. Braves have already spent 98 million this offseason. I don't see them making many more big money moves
  6. What he should get and what the market will give him are not the same thing. I think he was viewed as the best pitcher on the market after Strasburg and Cole. Any team that wasn't looking to go near the 200million mark for those two would duke it out for him. I honestly expected something along the lines of 26-30 AAV. Which he may have been offered depending on what he turned down from the ChiSox
  7. He's got confrontations with guys he felt like were hotdogging it. I don't think he cared what color they were.
  8. Heard a mention this morning on ESPN that apparently he turned down more money from the ChiSox too. Big sigh of relief there
  9. He was the key piece obviously
  10. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/12/orioles-trade-dylan-bundy-angels.html
  11. I don't know if he will. I personally think he should but I'm not sure he's valued as highly as Wheeler was for whatever reason.
  12. So I'm guessing this now sets the market for every pitcher not named Cole/Strasburg. What are we thinking on Bumgarner or Ryu? 3-4 yrs, 95-110mil?
  13. 24million AAV. That's not a bad paycheck. Although a bit lower than I expected honestly
  14. So far looks like 5 years at 100+ million
  15. I actually like this deal for Atlanta. Before he went down with an oblique injury, he was hovering around a 3 era. Even with a high 5 ERA in the 10 starts after he returned, still finished the season with a sub 4. That's solid for a 4-5 starter
  16. Cole Hamels to the Braves for 1 year, 18 million. That would've been doable for us. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/28224887/sources-cole-hamels-braves-reach-1-year-18-million-deal
  17. Cole Hamels to the Braves. 1yr, 18 million. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/28224887/sources-cole-hamels-braves-reach-1-year-18-million-deal
  18. If they want to move the deals of Lester, Heyward et al, then they're going to have to package them with someone like a Rizzo or a Bryant. Or they accept that they're going to move them and get basically nothing in return. Kind of like when Boston traded Beckett and Crawford to the Dodgers. Had to toss in a player the dodgers actually wanted (Adrian Gonzalez) to get LA on board and actually give them something in return. Question becomes which team has the cajones to ask for Bryant while being willing to take on Beckett and Heyward.
  19. Proof of this? Otherwise sour grapes... again.
  20. I'm not sure what to think of Chicago. This move just adds to the talent on the team. If that guaranteed you wins I'd say they'd be pretty dangerous. However, thinking back to some of their games last year, I feel like there were several games were they just kind of quit once they fell behind. Now maybe it was just a couple of incidences that are clouding up my hindsight or a couple late season games but that was an impression I came away with
  21. Yeah but during those 100 games the pitches are going to be beautifully framed
  22. I think it's safe to assume Chicago thinks they're going to contend
