  1. Articles like that and the comment sections on other baseball related websites make me happy Twins Daily is around. There are some people out there who are just the wrong side of average.
  2. I just like looking through the comments at the time of the trade. Whether or not the trade was an overwhelming success, i don't think many of the comments made at the beginning of this thread could be considered accurate at this point.
  3. Normally, their an older, more polished team, but I think the last couple years that the team has been younger than the league average however. The E-twins have good coaches. Twins Daily - What is Average?
  4. TwitLonger ? When you talk too much for Twitter Just to, you know, in the spirit of both sides of the story that we started with, this is what Torii said via Twitter. Not saying whether this was just damage control or if what he said was misconstrued, just wanted his thoughts about it on here.
  5. We should definitely get him AND Brandon Webb. World Series 2008 here we come! But seriously, I like Rich Harden. I'd do it.
  6. I voted for Kyle Gibson because I think he joins the rotation this year and sticks. He has the talent to stay there, as long as he doesn't get hurt. I've got a bad feeling that Diamond will regress at some point, and I think if he and Worley do well, Ryan will sell high on them.
  7. Only trade him if the Red Sox are willing to sell the house to us. It would be a massive PR hit, and everyone knows it. The people who comment on this site would still watch, but everyone else in Twins Territory would be gone. Lavarnway, Boegarts, Middlebrooks, and Barnes. And the Pesky Pole. The Pesky Pole is the Sine Qua Non.
  8. Mastroianni in Center. I know he's a fourth outfielder, but just let Hick's and Arcia develop a little in Triple-A. Lineup would be Carroll, Mastroianni, Mauer, Willingham, Morneau, Doumit, Plouffe, Parmelee, Florimon. I say the lineup like that because: 1) I'm obsessed with speed guys in the two hole. Can't get enough. 2) Ease the stress on Plouffe and Parmelee. They're still in development mode, and being in the 7 and 8 hole could relax them enough to make them better. One spot back might make all the difference.
  9. We need some way to find if people are being sarcastic. Maybe we use some "patron saint of bad ideas" that we could use to let people know. How about, "as reported by Patrick Reusse". Examples: We should have gone to 6 million for Marquis. As Reported by Patrick Reusse. We could get James Shields for Ben Revere and Anthony Slama. As Reported by Patrick Reusse.
  10. With his history, as high as that referendum is gonna make Colorado. I'm not gonna pay someone $10 million who has pitched over 150 innings one time since 2006.
  11. A starter with top of the rotation potential who's a year away is better than a number 3 who's ready now. I'm good with this trade. Now sign some pitchers for this year with the money saved!
  12. An absolutely rogue idea would be to trade Willingham, Span, AND Morneau for pitching. Sign Hunter, Have Parms play first, and let Benson/Arcia/Hicks vie for the last outfield spot this year. There's about a 1% chance of it happening, I don't think the twins have made that many impact trades in the past 10 years combined. If they could get pitchers who can contribute, it fills a lot of holes and frees up a lot of cash to work with. This is such a rookie post.
  13. I've noticed throughout the last couple years, it seems like Anderson and Gardy have been arguing a lot. Maybe I just noticed it because we're losing (I think we all notice dissension a lot more when there's issues), but I would be unsurprised and upset if Anderson was the one let go. Starting Pitching was lack of skill this year. Brunansky has done a great job at AAA. Hitting hasn't been the problem, and until there is a real youth movement I'm more comfortable with Vavra in the MLB, as he knows the veterans swings. I don't know how changing anyone else would really change the team. I would give everyone one more year.
  14. He'll be a solid fourth outfielder for us. The bat won't likely hold up in a starting role. Some people are just suited for bench roles. It seemed like Punto's average was about 30 points higher coming off the bench, but that could be my imagination. Just keep people in places they can thrive in. Duensing is a better reliever, Mastroianni is a good fourth outfielder, and Nick Blackburn is a good... beard. See, everyone's happy.
  15. Why would we make a trade if we weren't going to get anything? Is Bill Smith holding Terry Ryan hostage and making decisions himself still?
  16. Laughed when I saw the title, Awesome pun. Hey, as long as Liriano continues to be successful, I'm happy. You will occasionally have an off night hitting, it just happened to be against Bruce Chen tonight. That last sentence hurt to type regardless.
  17. lat muscles are overrated anyway.
  18. So having played for rookie leagues the past couple years, is Max Kepler is already on year 3 of 5?
  19. Cool, so is it Calendar years? Or years on a team?
  20. I was super happy when this site started, and it hasn't disappointed. Someone asked me today how long until minor league players needed to be added to the 40-man roster. Every time I think I know it, I'm wrong. So, smart people, help?
  21. Definitely take a flyer on him, he has some potential. You know who else hasn't gotten an opportunity. Anthony Slama. Sorry, had to add that because I feel like everything on this site has to come back to Slama not getting called up.
  22. I wish we could trade Span to the Rays if we had to trade him, and send him home. The Mariners aren't going to give up pitching for hitting in their park, they get more value from pitchers, as we should realize is the same for the Twins. We need to trade for Pitching and defense. Long term we'll trade Willingham and our veterans, and we'll have an outfield of Revere in left, Hicks in center, and Benson in right. That is a rather fast outfield. Revere will get OBP figured out in the MLB too, just give him a little time. Trading for Starting pitching needs to be the priority with Doumit and Span.
