  1. Nope, almost all those miles were logged on sportbikes. The cushiest bike I've ever owned is either a Ducati ST4s sport tourer or the Honda VFR800 I ride now (still have the Duck but its engine grenaded last summer).
  2. Watch your words, bro. Don't forget that I live to get radical.
  3. While I can see giving those trades an incomplete (I don't agree but I can understand the argument), neither May nor Meyer are in the low minors. Both have shown success at the biggest talent increase in MiLB, and that's the jump from A+ to AA.
  4. Ooh. Tough call. I don't know if I have enough faith in Parmelee to bet everything on him... But plenty of league average first basemen are available every offseason. So I'm going to say yes, trade him.
  5. Parmelee's OPS is just .009 below Justin now. It's getting harder to justify any kind of contract to Morneau if Chris continues to improve.
  6. Anytime, man. Any time. You deserve it.
  7. I'll take the victories when they come. First, start playing good defense and get that OPS close to .700. Then worry about refining his game.
  8. I'm completely behind Ryan's long term view of the org but with the Twins nearly limitless payroll options in the short term, I don't see why some of that money isn't dropped on some short term vets. Just because this team won't win the World Series doesn't mean fans should be okay with punting this season. Sometimes it's okay to win 78 games in a season. "World Series" and "63 Mets" are not the only options.
  9. Saunders, Dempster, Marcum. Hey, it may not have panned out perfectly. Some guys might fail. All I wanted to see was a legitimate effort to not be last in the league in ERA again. I'm not asking for much, just the hope that this team might be worth watching past June.
  10. Sitting at .189 mid way through today's game. How long until he reaches .200? I was against his being on the roster on Opening Day but overall, I'm pretty happy with his season. He's young, raw, but improving. And in a season like this, the team needs to roll out the youngsters and let them fail when it's not terribly important that they play at and above average level.
  11. Sign two short term and legit starters, take a little risk on a guy that costs more than 45 cents, and he gets a very good grade. I didn't necessarily expect a winner because right now, the team is rebuilding. What I DID expect was an MLB rotation that didn't embarrass itself. Surprisingly enough, Correia was one legit starter. We were all wrong there. But relying on Pelfrey was a mistake. He was a great third option. But not a second option. As for Span and Revere, he gets both MLB and MiLB credit for that. Trade from a strength to bolster the entire org. Good, smart moves. The injury to Mastro was really unfortunate. Some people fault him for not picking up another CF and I see their point but IMO, 2014 was all about Hicks. If Mastro could have been a stopgap for a couple of months, I was fine with that.
  12. It's okay, Buck. You'll never hate yourself half as much as I hate you.
  13. While I'd definitely give him an A or A- in the minors, I'd struggle to give him anything better than a C for the MLB club and after this past offseason, it might even be a D.
  14. Twins: Brian Dozier 2B Jamey Carroll 3B Joe Mauer C Justin Morneau 1B Oswaldo Arcia LF Trevor Plouffe DH Chris Parmelee RF Aaron Hicks CF Eduardo Escobar SS (Mike Pelfrey P) Blue Jays: Jose Reyes SS Jose Bautista RF Edwin Encarnacion 1B Adam Lind DH Colby Rasmus CF Rajai Davis LF Maicer Izturis 3B Josh Thole C Munenori Kawasaki 2B (R.A. Dickey P)
  15. Valid points. I'm not against retaining Justin, I'm just saying that making a qualifying offer virtually guarantees that he will be with the team in 2014. We shouldn't even be talking about potentially getting picks for him.
  16. Eh, if the Twins make a qualifying offer to Justin, he's going to take it. No one will approach that number in FA unless he completely turns it around in the second half.
  17. Sometimes rumblings of an aborted trade get out but the Twins tend to play it close to te vest. One has to assume there are many things discussed that we simply don't know about.
  18. Good to know that the bullpen is now a mess because they've had a bad week or two. The bullpen is not only fine, it's a pleasant surprise. On the other hand, the rotation is the complete disaster most of us thought it would be before Opening Day.
  19. Criticizing the front office for releasing Walters is ridiculous. What should be criticized is how they went into the season with a chance of Deduno, Walters, and Journeyman Pitcher X all making starts at the same time. Yet again, the Twins are in a situation where half their rotation is populated with the type of pitcher that should be a #6 spot starter type of guy. Guys like Walters are expendable and very renewable resources. Complaints should fall on the decision to field an MLB rotation with pitchers of his ilk, not that they used him as one uses AAAA guys (ie. make a few starts in a pinch then send to minors or DFA when no longer needed).
  20. Lineups: Twins: Brian Dozier 2B Joe Mauer DH Ryan Doumit C Justin Morneau 1B Trevor Plouffe 3B Oswaldo Arcia LF Chris Parmelee RF Aaron Hicks CF Pedro Florimon SS (Kevin Correia P) Blue Jays: Blue Jays: Jose Reyes SS Jose Bautista RF Edwin Encarnacion DH Adam Lind 1B Colby Rasmus CF Rajai Davis LF Maicer Izturis 3B J.P. Arencibia C Munenori Kawasaki 2B (Mark Buehrle P)
  21. At this point he could be posturing to drive up demand. We'll see if that changes in two weeks. I'm not totally sold on trading Perkins but Ryan should certainly be listening to offers. If best offer creeps toward top 25 prospect territory, I don't know how one could pass that up.
  22. Three cheers for... Aw, screw it. *pours a drink* Gibsons: Brian Dozier 2B Joe Mauer C Oswaldo Arcia LF Justin Morneau DH Trevor Plouffe 3B Chris Parmelee 1B Aaron Hicks CF Clete Thomas RF Pedro Florimon SS (Kyle Gibson P) The Enemy: Ichiro Suzuki CF Zoilo Almonte LF Robinson Cano 2B Travis Hafner DH Vernon Wells RF Lyle Overbay 1B Luis Cruz SS Alberto Gonzalez 3B Austin Romine C (David Phelps P)
  23. Was Ted Williams an elite player? Overlooking the huge problem with SSS, knocking a guy in a team sport because his team hasn't made the playoffs is an awful way to judge the quality of a player. You may consider that flippant but I consider it common sense.
  24. You and every GM in baseball.
