  1. This is a new thing we'll be doing on the forums. It's a fun little game where once a week, we post a player and you try to guess who it is. This is part of a push to offer more ways to interact with the site. This is the first (tiny) piece of the puzzle with more stuff launching around Opening Day and throughout the season. Let me know if you have suggestions how to improve it!
  2. I completely agree but literally anyone with an understanding of the media landscape saw this coming years ago. Why on earth did it take them so many years to see what any casual user of the service saw? I have very few problems with the baseball side of the organization. They're not perfect but they're fine, maybe even good. But I have come to loathe the business side of the organization. I think they are (or were) utterly incompetent, to such a degree that even I find myself tuning out of the product. And if a team is losing people like me, "mismanagement" is a gross understatement of the problem.
  3. Looking at the TV schedule, we cannot boot the Pohlads out the door fast enough. How on earth do they think people will be interested in their product WHEN NO ONE CAN WATCH THE ****ING PRODUCT. Year after year, it's the same ******** with this team. Spend the extra five bucks, put more of your games on TV and at least a few of them BEFORE MARCH 15TH. Argh, I'm so completely over the business side of this franchise. They're managed with absolutely no foresight or understanding of the fanbase.
  4. Lineups are built differently now, the 3-4-5 guys no longer rack up huge RBI numbers like they did in the past.
  5. I created a handy reference page for your review. https://twinsdaily.com/is-chris-paddack-still-on-twins/
  6. It should be on the same Xfinity channel tier as Bally Sports/Fan Duel. I'm not an Xfinity sub so I can't tell you what tier that is but I assume it's some sort of sports tier that's $10-15/mo.
  7. It will be on a different channel, probably called Twins.TV. The channel will be blank for most of the day, firing up about half an hour before game time and shutting back down half an hour after game time.
  8. Ah, I see. It's pure speculation on my part but I doubt YouTube TV will carry this channel. They seem to have bowed out of sports almost entirely.
  9. Lots of people involved with the Twins read Twins Daily and I suspect many of them have accounts, though I'm sure they hide behind an obscured screen name.
  10. YouTube TV (paid sub) doesn't stream games, though YouTube (free) does. I'm not sure if those are considered "nationally broadcast", though I don't *think* they are.
  11. Absolutely worth a read! https://blogs.fangraphs.com/walker-jenkins-wants-to-hit-the-ball-hard-and-usually-does/
  12. If Chourio hadn't signed that contract, he wouldn't have opened the season on the roster. And Chourio had no flaws in his game, literally the *only* concern was his age. Rodriguez has piles of questions around him: 1. Is he actually a CF? 2. Will his swing-and-miss kill him against MLB pitching? 3. Is he too passive? You're comparing basically flawless prospects in Chourio and Mauer to a guy with real questions and real flaws. Rodriguez is a good prospect who will likely play a role on an MLB team. But whereas Mauer and Chourio's success was basically guaranteed by the time they were 20 years old, Rodriguez still has question marks around him and less than 200 PAs in the upper minors to quell those questions.
  13. That was just part of the disaster of Margot last season. Previous to 2024, he WAS a high-end defensive outfielder with a career +41 DRS and +57 OAA with much of that playing time being in center. Then the bottom dropped out on him, both offensively and defensively. It was literally a worst-case scenario with him.
  14. Rodriguez is a good prospect. He's nowhere near the class of Chourio or Mauer. Both Chourio and Mauer were literally the best prospects in baseball as teenagers. This is an unreasonable scale on which to grade Emmanuel, you're just going to be disappointed if you hold him to the standard of a Hall of Fame catcher and a guy who signed a ten-year MLB contract as a teenager.
  15. There isn’t a DH and I doubt there will be. It will be a rotation of guys based on platoons and injury.
  16. What about Bader's +10 OAA in center field last season? Or Martin's -4 in just 275 innings? That's what I don't get about this conversation. Would I have chosen Bader over literally every other option? Probably not. But it's entirely rational to choose a defense-first, legit CF when the only other CF you have on the roster is made of papier mache. People are acting like the Twins are stashing 2015 Byron Buxton in the minors due to this deal when the reality is that they literally do not have another legitimate CF that will be ready in the first two months of the season (and Rodriguez might not be a MLB CF at all).
  17. Not when you're treating it as a simple up/down, no. Did he beat his splits by .020 or .220? There's a big freakin' difference that matters between the two.
  18. This is a really weird way to slice up splits. While splits numbers definitely fluctuate, giving a binary result on a single season doesn't make much sense, especially seasons like 2021 where he was .024 better against RHP.
  19. Keston Hiura had legit reverse splits. But you're right in that it's incredibly rare.
  20. It was 150 plate appearances with a .213 BABIP. I'm not sure how much stock to put in his 2024 splits for a couple of reasons. Unless someone can find evidence to convince me otherwise, I'm going to weight his career splits much more heavily.
  21. Michael A Taylor basically saved this team's ass in 2023 so I don't agree with this opinion.
  22. Look at the bolded. Read it a few times. Then let's all laugh together at the idea of the Twins NOT having half the roster injured by June 1st.
  23. A team cannot go into a season with one centerfielder on the roster, especially if that one centerfielder snaps like a twig if someone looks at him wrong. The Twins have zero CF behind Buxton. Zero. And that's a real problem. I'll worry about Bader blocking someone when there is someone to block.
