Mostly, I'm not sure I want to think about anything, but here we go ... First responder, start with 1. Next with 2. And so forth ...
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 21, 2013 Author Posted September 21, 2013 1. Think about not wanting to think about anything especially after last night. But, it's a new day and that was yesterday. No, I am not a starry-eyed optimist, although there'd be nothing wrong with that if I were, but I'm too old and tired to carry this stuff around with me day to day. How do you think I got so old and tired? Anyway, we have to keep hoping for better. One day it will be ours again. There are so many glimmers on the horizon. So ... go Twins! It's a new day.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 2. Think about Thank You... Thanks ChiTown for posting the Game Thread... I was just about to post it but it's covered and that's Cool. 3. Think about Oakland... When they Roll... They Roll... It's been awhile since I've seen a team just steamroll a team like this in Baseball. They don't just beat us... The Slap us silly. You are right today is a new day. 4. Think about 1,000 Wins... I'm gonna keep thinking about this until Gardy gets it... THIS YEAR!!! 5. Think about Budget Meetings... It's difficult to makes Ends Meet... It's also difficult to make Meetings End. A budget meeting has the potential to last forever!!! I'm not going to call one... I see the potential problem that lies ahead.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 21, 2013 Author Posted September 21, 2013 ack! didn't mean to take away your job .. just was getting late, so ... (I'm just so impatient!)
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 ack! didn't mean to take away your job .. just was getting late, so ... (I'm just so impatient!) No Problem... I have to get back on the road again today... So... It was helpful.
Thegrin Verified Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 This game is a no-hoper. I don't know why I watch.
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 6. Think about...the lineup If at the start of the season the odds-makers in Vegas could set the odds for this being the optimal Twins lineup in September, what would they have been - and would anybody have been foolish enough to take that bet...
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 What's the only thing worse than tuning in expecting to watch another drubbing by the A's? Having to wait through a rain delay to get to the drubbing.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Here is a ray of hope for you--the Twins have supported Hernandez very well when he has started. Even since his last recall, the Twins have scored more for him than anyone else on the staff. They scored five and won when Pedro made his cameo start (drove to Cleveland from Louisville) and since he was recalled they have scored 9, 6, and 6 in his three starts (the Twins have won all three games). The team scored 7, 6, 15 and 10 runs in consecutive starts for Hernandez before he was optioned.
Oldgoat_MN Verified Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 7. Think about rain delays. It postpones the sorrow and disappointment. And you can spend the time being foolishly optimistic. I'm being foolish right now!
glunn Community Moderator Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Think about working on a Saturday and missing the joy of watching the Athletics clinch on TV.
mikeee Provisional Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 In to each ones' life, some rain must fall.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 The rain delay is another reason I'm glad I didn't drive down yesterday for a night/day doubleheader. Instead, I drove to Reno for some shopping, and came back through a snowstorm over the mountain pass brought by the same weather system.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 I had such high hopes for a guppy rally bringing in a run based on that infield single, but it was not to be.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Pedro Hernandez sure seems hittable.
glunn Community Moderator Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 This is shaping up to be another slaughter. I am going to take a nap.
mikeee Provisional Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Oakland is on the board.
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Instead, I drove to Reno for some shopping, and came back through a snowstorm over the mountain pass brought by the same weather system.Nevada? Oh I see. "Shopping," sure.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Nevada? Oh I see. "Shopping," sure. While it's true that the grocery stores here have slot machines just after the checkout lines, occasionally we grab some vittles too, as long as we are there.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 21, 2013 Author Posted September 21, 2013 Think about working on a Saturday and missing the joy of watching the Athletics clinch on TV. I worked today. But was only this morning.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Pedro: "Hey guys, look at me! I'm Liam. Dur, dur, I give up a hit. Dur, dur, I give up another hit. Just like Liam. Dur dur, now a run's in. Dur, dur, now a walk. Hey guys! Why aren'tcha laffin? OK, I'll get the last out. Buncha wet blankets."
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 21, 2013 Author Posted September 21, 2013 This is shaping up to be another slaughter. I am going to take a nap. yeah, I didn't time that well ... already took a nap. Darn rain delay.
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 I worked today. But was only this morning. I had to work today too - had to do a funeral. Then I come back to watch the Twins. I honestly don't know which is more depressing.
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Is anybody else really missing Morneau at first yet?
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 21, 2013 Author Posted September 21, 2013 Sigh ... I know that was a bad throw ... but would Morneau have been able to scoop that?
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 I had to work today too - had to do a funeral. Then I come back to watch the Twins. I honestly don't know which is more depressing. Depends. Was the deceased old enough not to be mistaken for the Twins veteran deadwood? Did the deceased lead a fuller life than most of the young Twins talent has shown capable of so far?
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 21, 2013 Author Posted September 21, 2013 If Arcia were in RF today, the score would be 4-0 now and no outs, with a runner on 2nd or 3rd.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 21, 2013 Author Posted September 21, 2013 Ugh. Am hoping that Texas loses tonight so we don't have to see any celebrating tomorrow. edit 1: Well, hoping our game doesn't outlast theirs. edit 2: hmm, nm, if that happens I likely won't still be watching. edit 3: and on that note ...
mikeee Provisional Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 pedro will not last long.
