The Tua era is over in Miami. Benched and starting in his place is rookie Quinn Ewers. Hook 'em horns! Tua, you are the next Las Vegas Raiders disaster QB. Come on down!

So are the Dolphins gonna take their medicine and cap hit a la the Broncos with Russell Wilson?  Or do they let whomever the new GM and (likely) coach decide if Tua is worth fixing?   That's a lot of dead money.

And just like with Wilson, the team that picks up Tua could have him for basically nothing if he gets cut.  Maybe a team that needs a vet floor stabilizer to pair with their volatile young QB while looking for cap savings anywhere they can get it?  Would that be potentially worthwhile?

Since Miami will be looking for a new GM and likely HC, I'll bet they eat the money and set him free.

He wouldn't be among my top choices for the vet QB in Minnesota next year, but I'd probably like him better than most fans. Historically he does like to chuck it down field, which I do want. So he'd be ahead of guys like Marriota and Garoppolo and Bridgewater for me.

Also, I'm predicting Mike McCarthy lands in Miami. And Miami and Pittsburgh will be the two teams rumored to be trading for Mac Jones. Those teams will draft too low to pick a QB in the draft and SF will try to avoid trading him in the NFC. And both teams will care more about floor than ceiling.

Sorry, third post in a row. I don't know all the ins and outs of NFL contracts and trades but I wonder if a Tua for Kyler Murray trade could work. Tua would be easier to cut after ONE more year and would be way better than Murray at getting Harrison and McBride the ball. He might be OK as a bridge QB while they likely transition to a new HC.

Meanwhile, Murray likely needs TWO years before he's easier to cut, but he's still mobile and might be a really good compliment to a team that emphasizes running the ball.

It would be an interesting challenge trade for both teams. The Kyler Murray era is definitely over in Arizona as well. This upcoming draft class is so light on QBs that some poor team will be forced to acquire one of these QBs

Right, Miami, NYJ, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Indy, LV and Arizona will all need QBs and Carolina, NO and even our Vikings would perhaps be open to it if there were enough to go around.

Mac Jones will be the hot name in trades and Daniel Jones probably goes back to Indy. But there's not five NFL ready QBs in this draft to fill the other spots, so then you got Murray, Tua and then start getting into the backups who got spot starts this year.

NFL expansion should NEVER happen.

Well Puka Nacua has just gotten the last PI called in his favor:

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/47336359/rams-puka-nacua-nfl-refs-worst-make-calls-get-tv

Says the refs make up calls just to get on TV. I didn't take him for an impulsive idiot, but there's really no other explanation for saying this, even if he actually believes it. McVey surely won't be happy either.

Tua stinks.  No thanks.

He also made an anti semitic comment....so, ya, he's not going to be doing well this week (or for some time).

And he's going to miss 3-7 games every year. You can't build anything around that (not to mention the money!).

The only appeal to me is that if he gets cut, whoever signs him only has to pay the minimum while the Dolphins would foot the balance of his guaranteed salary.  At least that's my understanding based on the Russell Wilson-Broncos experience.  So it would be veteran quasi-competence basically for free.  If JJ takes some meaningful steps forward this offseason, he might not see the field much.  And if JJ doesn't, they're screwed anyway

There are a lot worse options out there than Tua on a minimum contract next year. Would he be a good locker room guy as a backup? IIRC he's had some bad attitude moments over the years.

Sounds like he caught the unfortunate WR 1 illness. I don't know why Justin Jefferson is immune, but we need to keep him and conduct a study why he's the only WR 1 who's not a diva or a dumbass.

I get what you're saying, but I think that issue will resolve itself.  Teams aren't going to differentiate their offers with price since he's guaranteed his salary by the Dolphins no matter what.  So he'll get to choose the environment he wants the most.  If being a clear #2 to a younger guy isn't something that interests him, then he'll simply choose someone else that will give him a cleaner path to starting.  As you said earlier, he matches up with the Raiders pretty well

If he's ready for his humble pie sitting on the bench and learning unless McCarthy gets injured, I'm all for it. We still need a capable veteran waiting in the wings. But I'm guessing he wants a real opportunity to start next year. There's still enough QB desperate teams that will let him do that. Raiders, Jets, Browns, Steelers... Colts?

Its a true match. Tua and the Raiders both stink.

All the backup options stink. But if it's between Wentz or Minshew or Marriota or Tua, I'm not sure I have a strong preference. Though Tua would, I forgot he had a beef with Flores.

He's actually stayed completely healthy two of the past three years, and there's no way the Dolphins can trade him. I'd guess he'll be getting backup QB money, even if he manages to get one of the starting jobs as a bridge QB.

Also, I didn't in any way mean for this to turn into a stump for Tua. He's not on the top of my list, he's mostly just an interesting situation.

Are we sure we want Flores and Tue reunited?

Well, I'm not sure that characterization is completely accurate.  Unless I'm missing something (and please tell me if I am) he watched someone do a proposed celebration dance that contained anti-semitic tropes and he laughed and said he'd do that in a game.

Which, to me, is different than outright saying something anti-semitic.  It could just be that Puca is kinda dumb, or unpolished dealing with the media, or naive and got himself caught up in the moment.  (Speaking from experience I've only gained in the last ten years, people who are Mormon are often ridiculously naive about other religions.  Like, jaw-droppingly so) Not a good look, but I think characterizing it accurately is important.

I'm by no means saying people can't feel offended, but I think it's important when leveling serious accusations that we accurately describe the behavior.

Like a dance from Fiddler on the Roof or something?

Unless he was wearing some specific cultural clothing, I can't fathom how anyone could convey some kind of Jewish appropriation with a touchdown dance.

While my knowledge of classic dance is limited, I'm going to presume that's some knew Tik Tok trend or something?

I assume these frat bro podcasters or whatever they are, called the dance by that name? I can't imagine anyone would be upset if they described a dance and Nacua was expected to understand it was offensive.

Racist moron aside, I'm not going to do the Boomer bit and say all the pop culture of these new generations is dumb, but I really don't understand the entertainment value of all these social media platforms. Almost none of it holds my interest.
