Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 The Lineups... Hitters getting in a line... umm... upward and therefore... they line UP. Much more optimistic than a Line DOWN. ChiTown has them... Coming soon.------------------------------------------------------------------Here you go Minnesota Twins CF Santana2B Dozier3B PlouffeLF WillinghamC SuzukiDH VargasRF Arcia1B ParmeleeSS Escobar SP Pino Chicago WhiteSox CF Eaton2B BeckhamDH Abreu3B GillaspieSS Ramirez1B KonerkoRF ViciedoLF De AzaC Flowers SP Quintana - Things to Think About: 1, The White Sox -- I hate them so much... I've thought about them 6 times this morning. As Thought number one this would be the 7th time. The Twins have had to score a lot of runs to keep up with the Sox this series. I don't know if it's the Twins pitching or the White Sox swinging well. Another game today to try and make that determination. 2. Jose Quintana -- I've already done a thing on Quintana. The Thing to talk about with Jose is this... He's been pitching pretty good lately. He's only allowed 11 runs in his last 8 starts. His ERA is down to 3.15 for the year. The combination of Sale and Quintana is looking like a nice left handed pairing. Thank Goodness the White Sox farm system seems pretty dry because it looks like the Sox have a nice starting point with nowhere to go. 3, The Long Ball -- Today the Twins 4 5 6 and 7 hitters are Willingham, Vargas, Colabello and Arcia. That's 4 guys in a row with easy long ball power. In stature... it looks like a formidable group. It just hasn't been that way for our Twins. It was Danny Santana who went deep yesterday. If your baseball team is built with these 4 guys back to back... They gotta hit the ball hard and far sometime. It's what they were built to do. If they don't... It's like using an Elephant to pick up marbles. I'm not an Elephant expert... maybe they do that... I don't know. 4. The Bullpen -- The White Sox have been knocking around our bullpen pretty good. Gardy uses the bullpen every day. The last time a Twin threw a complete game was in 1937. The bullpen needs to sharpen up or the White Sox need to cool down. 5. Medicine -- Been feeling a little better today since the sudden onset of a summer cold on Friday. For a full day... I didn't take anything. I just rode it out. I had heard that laughter is the best medicine. So... I just tried to laugh as much as possible. Saturday I was still feeling run down so I took some medicine and today I'm feeling better. It turns out that laughter is the best medicine besides... you know... actual medicine.
Beezer07 Provisional Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Pino starting back-to-back games? Talk about old school...like early 1900's old school. Gibson is starting today
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2014 Author Posted August 3, 2014 Yeah... Pino was all over everything. ESPN... CBS... Other websites. I don't know how that happens but it happened,
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2014 Author Posted August 3, 2014 I'll be surprised if I make it through the game. I've taken enough NyQuil... Right now it feels like I poured it on my eyelids.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2014 Author Posted August 3, 2014 Santana starts the game exactly how a lead off hitter should.

Have you ever tried Zicam? I know they say most of this stuff doesn't work but if I use Zicam the minute I feel a sniffle, it usually stops it (or at least makes it not so severe). Maybe its mental but it works for me. But given how far along you already are, it wouldn't be any use.

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Well there ya go, RB, we're in a rain delay...a built in excuse for a nap.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Wish we had that rain here. Nothing like a nap with the sound of rain.

My wife usually has to bring me something and say... Take this... Damn it. And she needs to... Because I don't read the box. If she says... "Well take something" she sees the immediate... I don't know what something is... Look on my face. I'm not sick very often and when I am... It's a larger sick and nothing seems to help. If it's a little sickness... It usually doesn't bother me.

JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 I'm not sick very often and when I am... See, that's a blessing. I don't get colds very often either but I can almost always count on one the first part of March -- changing seasons or combo cold/allergies or something. For some reason, if I use Zicam immediately it pretty much stops it its tracks for me. Then I don't need the Nyquil. I could actually see how some people could get addicted to the nighttime Nyquil, though. Must have a high alcohol content.

Branch out with sales from the non-illness crowd,

JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 How bout the Cascades Listen to the rhythm of the falling rainTelling me just what a fool I've been Same song. Different covers. But since I'm rarely aware of who was singing the original, I associate it with Phil and Don (and after all, we claim them as Iowans).

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2014 Author Posted August 3, 2014 Just looked at the Chicago radar... Looks like a small cell of rain. They should be starting very soon. I wonder if ChiTown is Ok... With rain falling and all.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Are we? I do t recall the Everly Brothers Doin that one. We are talking about the same song but wikipedia (the source of all knowledge) doesn't list an Everly Brothers cover despite a number of other people who think there was one according to Google. It was covered by Jan & Dean and by Gary Lewis & the Playboys, though. And when I think about it, I'm betting its that last version I remember best cuz I think I had it on an album somewhere.
