Game Thread Yankees@Twins 7/3 7:10PM

Is anyone else watching/listening to the Yankees TV broadcast? They just said that they continue to be shocked that the Twins don't shift for McCann, and they talked to scout about it, and the scout said "They [The Twins] don't know what they're doing."

I won't editorialize.

Like I've said, if you've never played 6th dimensional chess, you have no right to question it. :)

oh crap

Which one?

Sadly I brought some work home that I did not finish before the long-weekend. Even more sad is that I think it is going to be a welcome reprieve/escape from the game...

Wheels fell off the cart that inning. Not hard to see coming when you have two base running gaffes in the first two innings. Going to be awfully hard to come back against tanaka.

OK, seriously...that "Zelous Wheeler" guy is really Delmon Young, isn't he? You're not foolin' me, Mr Cashman.

Twins give that run right back. I think the steam has finally run out of our guys. Just not consistently clicking in any facet of the game in recent weeks. This will be twice in a week that a team on a long losing streak rights the ship against us. Hopefully they can split this series, but not looking good as our best SP exits the game.

With the way we wet ourselves against the Yankees a sweep is more likely. Then a 7 game road trip. Could easily be 12 under by the ASG. And we have what to look forward to for young players in the 2nd half? May at the most? Ugh. They may have to fire Gardy just to keep it from being a complete death march.

You make a point though. Other yankee starters not named Tanaka are struggling right now.

i was hoping they'd stay competitive and shake off the long losing stretches of the past years, but this thing has started to snowball the wrong way. Without that one great series against the white sox, things have been really awful for several weeks. The Yankees are not very good, which makes this more frustrating.

Remember when there was all that 'Phil Hughes should be an All-Star' talk? Those were the days...

Eh, his last start was not as bad as the numbers say. He was left in for far too long against the rangers. He fell apart tonight.

He's not terrible, but his overall #'s are now much closer to advertised. Both he and Dozier are nice players. Neither are All-Stars.

We now know that the literal peak of the season was in 5/22 in San Diego. The figurative one was probably when Gibson pitched the gem in Detroit. It's been all downhill since then, with a speed=bump against the White Sox.

FSN needs new sound engineers.

Other than Dick/Bert, their mikes don't work more than they do.

youre absolutely right about the peak of the season coming on gibsons great start in Detroit. What were they, 3 or 4 games out of first at that point? The next day they fell behind big and early, and then they had the Arcia circus in right field the day after that. It seems like the ship has been sinking further and further since that series.

Oof, I forgot how irritating the Yankees commentators become when NY is ahead. They were quite somber before things turned around.
