This team is floundering right now.

Which suggests there's still life there.

Color me unconvinced. :)

There is hope. For people who just enjoy the game, enjoy cheering them on to wins, the other Yankee starters have been horrible. These next games are winnable. Seattle is our next opponent and nothing special. Colorado cannot pitch. We could still be within a handful of games of .500 by the All Star break and then we have a favorable home stand starting that following Friday after the break.

their other starters haven't been good, but their lineup can still cause problems if you let them get hot, which the twins did tonight. Then you see how good the back end of their bullpen can be (we caught Robertson on a bad day in NY). We already used one of our two solid starters tonight.

Hughes start was statistically the worst in this turn of five starts. There is some regression to the mean for Hughes, but overall he has still been a bargain at $8M per year. Correia has regressed to the mean from the other side and I fully expect Nolasco to do the same. The larger problem is the middle of the order plus Dozier have struggled mightily for the past week to ten days. They managed to score four runs against a very fine pitcher, but Morales, Hammer and Arcia were 1-11 with one walk and four strikeouts.

I think we can officially start looking at next year. Who is part of 2015 and beyond?
