What is the point of leaving your best reliever on the bench!!!!!!!

Twins Video

I am writing this in pure hatred of the f'n save stat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A look into my passion for the Twins, the passion for the hatred of the save stat, and my love for Hooters deep fried pickles, wings, and beer.

Perkins was up during the game to pitch earlier. Now instead of putting him in, in a very important spot, you leave him on the bench not even pitching in the game in extra innings. I am not even blaming Gardy, I am blaming the stupid f'n "save" stat that I have blogged about before. Some manager, some time, will figure out that it is best for the team to use your best players when the time calls for it. Not when you have a f'n "save situation". Hey lets put my best reliever out there when we are up 3 runs and nobody out because it is a "save situation". Nooooooo why would anybody do that. Oh, I know because we made a stupid stat that everybody follows now. OMG< yes I used a text term that I think is stupid, but at this point I am frustrated and it is my blog and I can write whatever I want.

If you had any type of team, whether it be hockey, baseball, football, basketball, would you let one of your best players sit on the bench when healthy? The answer is no, and teams do this in MLB, and it blows my mind. Or they use them in useless situations like up 3 runs in one inning to get a STUPID STAT THAT SHOULDN'T BE THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

All I can say right now is I am going to go off every time on this blog every time that Gardy doesn't use the best player in his relief corps. Or burn him when they are up 3 runs w/ one inning to play, just so I have some release of my pissed offness.

I appreciate that this is a blog, but these thoughts would also work well on the drunken rambling thread... agreed though, IMO there are some situations that call for bringing in your best reliever even if it isn't the 9th inning with a lead. For me though many of these instances come in the 8th

I agree, it was my outlet at the time, so I used it that way. Adult beverages were definitely the gateway for my rant, I apologize.

I also am not in love with the way the "closers" are used in today's game. When did it start? Eckersly? I think it takes away some of the creativity and options from managers, but if I'm being honest, they all do it because it works most of the time.

I believe there should be a "?" at the end of the title, not a million "!"
