Why Zebby Matthews Will Be the Twins' Next Ace

I am not sure I see Ace potential in Zebby but If he can find consistency and refine his mix I think he has the potential to be a nice 3rd starter.

He also has a 5.92 ERA, has given up 23 HR in 117 IP, has a career 1.538 WHIP, averages less than 5 IP/Start, and will be 26 on May 22. Next closer maybe, but I don't think he will be the next "Ace"...

Sounds about right to me.

he is what we have a lot of ...3,4,5 starters... Ober(a good 3), then- Matthews, Abel, SWR, Festa, Bradley, Morris, Adams. Hopefully this group continues to improve and become solid in their roles.. holding out hope for Prielipp

Well, no.  Zebby has #2 potential, just like 0 other Twins starters.  Since we've had only Johan as an ace #1 for the last 37 years, this should be an exciting development.  He might be a 3+, but that's not his potential.  His potential is basically as ace-ish as we've had around here.
