  1. That was the first time I did, I think your confusing posters, which is fine in 91 pages of posts. And I wasn't directly comparing them anyway. Actually he threw 114ip between two levels in 2015.
  2. I don't think I chose to ignore anything, there's 90 pages here, I'll go back and look it up if you can tell me what page to go to.
  3. Did Clayton Kershaw pitch like an ace last year? He didn't reach 162 qualifying innings yet still got cy young votes.
  4. Well it's a good thing the twins aren't being offered two relief pitching prospects, their being offered two guys who even by the most conservative possible estimates are both starters.
  5. Yeah, but guys ahead of him like Gallo have already lost their rookie status, by May he should have moved up to like 15th due to graduation ahead of him. Swanson needs 1 AB Reyes needs 4ip Glasnow needs 27ip Benitendi needs like 25 AB's Gallo is already over the threshold.
  6. Oklahoma, IDK what your beef with Newcomb is, but I'm also skeptical of him as well. I just have a hard time trusting a guy that walks that many hitters, it's one thing if it's happening at the lower levels, with a younger pitcher, and you can think that they'll work they're way out of it, but his control problems remind me of a giants prospect named Kyle Crick.
  7. Lets say AZTwin greatest fear comes true and he can't handle a starters work load and ends up a reliever, depending on the quality of his innings that could still wind up a net gain, specifically if he ends up a high end reliever like Jansen or Miller. In his 7 seasons with the dodgers Jansen was worth 12 rWAR, are we really going to act like the twins couldn't use that.
  8. The quality of the innings is more important than the quantity. Whats with these weird half's you do in regards to age?
  9. That could happen to literally anyone though.
  10. http://www.minorleagueball.com/2017/1/6/14193446/los-angeles-dodgers-top-20-prospects-for-2017?_ga=1.95452447.285000460.1482816126 Though personally I thought Sickels was a little high on Ruiz, and a little to low on Stewart, but thats just me. Sickles rated him higher than Bellinger.
  11. This. That wasn't just part of it, it was the crux of it, that Dozier has been overall a good player in his career, streaky, but more good than bad. But that nothing in his career suggests what he did last year was either, sustainable, the new norm, or the bottom level production of whats to come.
  12. Why say practically 26 & 25 why not just call them 26 & 25 I don't see why you need to include "practically" in there. It's kind of wierd, just call DeLeon 25 if he's 25. Wait? Their shoulders flair up like plural? Like Both left and Right shoulder? Or Both of them have shoulder problems? Because DeLeon has only had a sore shoulder once in his career and then proceeded to throw 100 innings without any problem, and is Brock Stewart's shoulder flaring up again, because he hasn't had shoulder problems ever in his career. Still throwing 110 innings a year? So is this the point that we just ignore that Stewart threw nearly 150 innings last year? Yeah, but this team isn't getting a first round pick back, and even if the most conservative projections are wrong and they wind up relievers, that's still potentially more valuable than a late 2nd round pick. look what the Royals and Indians did with lock down bull pens, and that's assuming neither one makes it as a starter, which only your projecting at this point.
  13. Unless Dozier leaves in free agency in after putting up 2 good seasons on a continuously bad Minnasotta team, then it does the twins no good.
  14. I wonder how the twins will try to ring the braves out for prospects if the dodgers back out or go another direction.
  15. Going from 2.4 to 6.5 isn't trending up, it's more being all over the place. He just as likely could go back to being the 2.5 war player he was in 2015 or the 6.5 war player he was in 2016 or anything in between, because he's all over the place in his career. And by trending upwards, are you suggesting that last year was not only his new norm, but we and everyone else should expect improvement over the season he produced
  16. Which makes you wonder why they would want Dozier, since Dansby Swanson and Albies should both be ready to go soon, and only one can play SS.
  17. I was counting the 5.2, he also put up a 3.7 in a full season the year before that which brings the average down to 4.5 which is still a good player. That being said the fact that he hasn't show a steady line of production, it's not as though he went from 2.4-3.7-5.2-6.5 he's been all over the place. The last month of the year he hit 263/.323/.561 which is good but not insane. In fact his whole season was all over the place, the first two months he was awful, then he was incredible, then good, the incredible, then good again. Last year was like a microcosm for Dozier's career, all over the map, but at the end of the day it all averages to a good not elite player.
  18. Yeah it averages that because in his career year he produced 6.5 rWAR to help fix the 2.4 he put up the previous year. He's a streaky hitter, and a streaky producer from year to year, his 2018 could go any number of ways. Side note: Did you mean projection or trajectory? Because I'm pretty sure that portmanteau isn't a word.
  19. To bad none of the players being talked about from either team has averaged 5 war for 2 seasons though.
  20. The dodgers not having room for a guy gives him a .00001% chance of becoming a star? In the case of Stewart, he wasn't expected to become a star, but if he's pitching well and going deep into games, and showing improvement on his slider, people aren't going to think less of him. They could be using the minor league innings to improve their stamina, or their secondary offerings, which would increase their value even if they aren't being "challenged" there are always things to work on.
  21. IDK we would have heard more about them by now, the front office wouldn't have been wasting time bringing up the Giants, Cards, and Angels if the braves were really that interested. Personally I don't like Newcomb that much, guys who walk 71 batters in 140 innings scare me, he reminds me of Kyle Crick. I do not like him better than deleon.
  22. They had 16 pitchers make starts for them last year, and almost had more, they seem to be choosing caution. Also, I think you forgot Ross Strippling. What's convinced you that he's a bull pen guy?
  23. That's because of the organization he's in, not because of anything that's wrong with him, if he was in the marlins system or angels system etc etc he would be expected to break camp with the team, hell that probably includes the twins. I guess if you got drafted out of high school or signed as a teenager from the Dominican and you've been in the minors for like 7-8 years, but that doesn't apply to either, and hell, being 25 doesn't apply to JDL yet either. So basically his value will drop purely based off narrative, completely irrelevant to how he performs?
  24. Why because their a half year older, people still consistently call the dodgers about Austin Barnes and he's 27. Age doesn't matter as much to teams as talent, cost and years of control. As long as they're still pitching well, teams will still value them highly.
  25. Yeah, but then he came back and threw over 100 innings combined between AAA and the Pro's. I don't think that's much of an indictment on defensive metrics, Gordon was one of the worst defensive SS in baseball when the dodgers played him there, the off season before his first all-star appearance, he spent that whole winter practicing the OF in hopes of making it on as a utility player, and was thrust into the role of 2nd base. In fact, most of the advanced metrics had him as one of the best 2nd basemen when it came to making the impossible plays, he just rated poorly on the routine plays, which makes sense since he didn't have a lot of experience at 2nd. After getting traded he spent all his time working at 2nd, and got great at making the routine plays. Kendrick on the other hand always rated as a good not great defender, then he got old, and his skills got worse, it's not the metrics fault, for that, they just showed what the dodgers scouts were also seeing.
