  1. Scherzer strikes out the side. Now let's give up some more runs.
  2. Only the rookies seem to be able to give any hope -- Diamond, DeVries and Walters -- and we will be lucky if one of them can keep it up. This is going to be a LONG and unhappy season. I was hoping that we would benefit from playing in a weak division, but the starting pitching is so bad that we would have trouble winning in AAA.
  3. Thank God for Delmon Young, who retains enough Twins suckitude to GIDP and get us out of that inning.
  4. SIX straight hits. This is sickening.
  5. If only the Twins could have kept Cuddyer AND brought in Willingham -- we could be seeing a lot more runs.
  6. If only he and Mauer/Willingham could get hot at the same time.
  7. I fear that our only salvation today would be a rainout.
  8. Pavano throwing batting practice -- two runs in the first inning. Please let it RAIN.
  9. We (the fans) could use a day (or even a week) off.
  10. This seems like an excellent plan. Pavano has no long term value, and if even "only" three of Hendriks, Bromberg, Diamond, Walters, DeVries/Manship/Deduno/French can be starters next year, then the Twins could be on the road to a young, decent pitching staff.
  11. I agree with this. Having no hope of winning the division gives the Twins the luxury of giving prospects a chance to make the adjustments necessary to succeed.
  12. I agree with giving Slama a chance. The Twins have no chance of winning the division, so there is nothing to lose, and his numbers suggest that he must have some ability to get people out.
  13. I think that this could pay off if he succeeded as a closer and could be traded before the trade deadline.
  14. But we know that Liriano will get shelled. Maybe Butera should get the next spot start.
  15. I agree, and this seems like a good time to give people a chance to see who might step up.
  16. This could be a difference maker. Mauer also homered, and if those two can get going, then there will be a lot more run production.
  17. I love Willingham, but he seems only marginally effective in left field. Does he have enough arm and speed to be adequate in right field? Why not move Span into right field and let Revere play center? It seems to me that Revere gets to more balls than Span, and that Span has a strong enough arm to get some assists playing right field. Of course, as you have noted, Revere needs to get on base more, or go back to Rochester. But why not have the fastest outfielder in center field?
  18. I have been reading these lists for years, and am grateful to Seth and others for all their hard work. Even though most of these players will never play for the Twins, at least they give us glimmers of hope after a soul draining beating by the White Sox tonight.
  19. Liriano seems to have great stuff, but goes through extended periods when he is not effective. He looked good in spring training then he fell apart. He sorta reminds me of Kyle Lohse, who had great stuff but could not consistently perform to his potential. Maybe Liriano has some personal issues with some of his teammates or coaches. Or maybe he is just a head case. We know from spring training that he could still be a solid starter. If only someone could identify the problem, then maybe there might be a solution. I expect that he will be traded for low quality prospects, then like Lohse he will start playing a lot better for his new team. If you were the GM, how would you approach this?
  20. It seems sad that anyone is even talking about this.
  21. Three errors and only 4 hits. Not a good game for the Twins.
  22. We need some runs now.
  23. Indeed it was, but in a good way.
  24. It looked to me tonight that he has decent stuff. But some would argue that once MLB players figure him out, he will be very hittable. How would you rate his potential?
